  1. Spot on

“It is what it is” is exactly the situation the rules are the rules here,

If you don’t want to comply you are free to leave and live elsewhere.

I don’t find the requirements to live here onerous reporting or anything else.

If you were a 50+ Thai with 800,000 baht in your wallet try flying to Australia, the UK or many other Western countries and asking to live there indefinitely.

    I don’t fancy your chances.

I really love people like you",rules is rules" there is a vast differance between going to a country where you can scrounge off the state if you have no money, and coming to a place like Thailand where if you have no money you starve. Dont you understand ,its not having to put money in a thai bank we care about, its not being able to spend your own money!!!!!

Oh and as a ps, i have the money and no worries ,but i dont look down my nose at those who do not.

  2. I was lucky,i came to Thailand in the good old days ,all night 500 baht short time 200,even 100 sometimes anything went ,mind you after the first few years it got boreing ,then went to BKK met the wife through business and now 20 odd years after getting married i couldnt tell you how much or even where the good bars are ,never go out at night ,and Pattaya is great for a married familly man,the things i wanted then i no longer crave and the things i didnt want then are here for me now ,so got the best of both worlds.

  3. I wonder how many UK ex pats married to Thais have forgotten they are going to loose a substantial part of their UK state pension income when they stop payment of the dependents allowance part of their pension in April 2020. They will be in for a huge shock when they receive the letter from the DWP informing them of this fact.
I very much doubt that anyone has forgoten that.been preparing for it ,in fact i was very lucky to get it ,thanks dad for not waiting to roger mum and get her pregers just before you got married ,or i would have missed out lol

  5. Unless you have a full disclosure of the sales price and terms of other sales, seems you are just relying on a phone call.

I bet he could not sell it for what it paid for it in 6 months.

But if he is happy, then great!

Actually our son paid a bit less than the average price .,but none of the houses on the estate ,that is of the style sell at the price this guy wanted ,far bigger and better ones sell at his price ,i only phoned to see how much he wanted ,his price was a complete joke,

  6. I love Thai pricing of houses and condos, our son has just purchased a house,he got it 3 million cheaper than a house in the next street, which is exactly the same model but not quite as nice, and with a really rough empty one next door.
When i rang to check the price the guy selling would not listen to how much other houses on the estate were selling for, reckoned his was far superior.
