Sometime you have to wonder if China is an Ally or an Enemy
Not sure how they can be mistaken for an ally.

Well we all know what he did with a previous constitution. That greatly diminishes the value of any such oath "uttered" by him, leaving technicalities aside.

Thankfully traffic often comes to a standstill on Rama IV, so motorists will have plenty of time to marvel at this global landmark.

Completely harmless and rather tasteful photos. We've seen far worse.

Hard to tell! I've spent a lot of time in the Thong Lor police precinct, including years ago when they felt compelled to hand out those flyers. Personally, I've never been approached by police in all those years. I passed their checkpoints quite a few times in a taxi at night, but they never stopped or searched me. What makes people (and foreigners in particular) look suspicious to them is anyone's guess. Not being drunk in itself, that much I can say from personal experience. I'd say NOT being drunk at 4am is more suspicious, sober people usually don't hang out at that hour!

I think the OP's resolve is admirable. Too many people who have grown to dislike living in Thailand (or never really liked it in the first place) just keep procrastinating and whining instead of coming to the same conclusion and moving on.
All the best for your life back home, @FaFaHead!

Is Boris already flogging visa to finance his Brexit shenanigans?
Seriously though, I think it's not a bad move. Those Thais who qualify for that particular credit card are big spenders and should easily qualify for visa to all countries, including the UK. Assuming that they haven't been bad, obviously.

Is there anything at all that this superman can not do better than anyone else?
(In his deluded mind, anyway.)

Ok little update for ya ..went to London embassy to hand my stuff in ,no worries all done pick passport and visa up tommorow 11 to 12.
Thanks for the update!
I think the part that I've quoted really sucks - despite uploading all the documents well before, you STILL need to attend the embassy twice. An epic waste of time, it's the most inefficient "eVisa" process I've ever come across anywhere.

Would be interesting to know, whether, instead of repeat SETVs, they are offering repeat transit visas now. Financially it would make sense for them: 2× 800 baht instead of 1x 1,000 baht.
Who knows, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's just a transitional "fix" so that those who go there but don't know about their new rules yet won't have to leave empty-handed. For someone who has already used up their land border visa exempts (or who doesn't qualify for visa exempt entries), that could save them quite some hassle.

English, Irish Scottish and Welsh people are British no connection with Europe except that were white skinned .
Sure, if you can ignore William the Conquerer, the Hanover clan and everyone in between, you would be right.

Boris hasn't even worked his magic yet, he's just warming up. I'm sure 35 is within reach within a few short months.

Well at least the Thai tax payers won't need to be paying Prawit's pension very long.

Maybe the next questions that will pop up re Vientiane are, oh is that one stamp in the past 12 months or the past calendar year.
You bet! That's a very relevant question.

The only real use case is against their own people. There are no other credible threats.

Thai village dogs are scared of people, because they tend to get a good whacking every now and then. As long as you don't make the mistake to show fear, you've got nothing to worry about.

So they still do attitude adjustment, apparently with success. That sounds more like the numbers we expect to hear from the TAT.

No problem. Once the Chinese officially take over, they can resettle some people from other parts of their vast empire to fill the gaps.

As you're in Pakse, it's pretty much a no-brainer: cross there! Very friendly, not very busy border checkpoint.

That's actually an interesting idea. I like skiing and sushi.

This is quite meaningless, as the article itself explains - many social security recipients continue to get their payments deposited into their U.S. bank accounts, and in that case, they won't make this list.
In Thailand in particular, direct deposits to Thai bank accounts only became an option recently.

When my retirement visa extensions were issued, I regarded myself as a guest in Thailand and as such expected to abide by Thailand's laws, customs and culture. Putting my signature to a petition against current Thai Immigration laws could place me in jeopardy!
I think you really need to ask yourself if you want to live in a country that will deport you for signing such a harmless petition.
That in itself might not be significant, but what does it mean about having a minimum of dignity and personal freedoms, after all?
I don't believe Thailand is that country. But if it turned out to be that country, better end up getting deported than living like this!

If I understand this correctly,
800K is in your bank account and is yours if you decide to leave Thailand or you no longer desire a retirement extension, where the 1 mil paid for an elite visa is gone never to be seen again.
Exactly. That makes a big difference.
2 things would be very helpful.

I'd take the first suggestion further: One year extensions should come with an automatic, multiple re-entry permit. Always. Implicit. That it's something separate and optional that needs to be applied for makes no sense whatsoever to any sane and intelligent person.
