1000 baht randomly appeared in my BBL account
In such a case I'd never try to send back the money myself, but ask the bank to reverse the transaction.

Observations from a Mukdahan Thai exit.
Just a guess, but maybe the fact that border runs were suspended when the new rules kicked in rather surprisingly in November caused more people than usual to choose the overstay "option". I'd be surprised if many of them had been doing what that Russian guy had done, rocking up with such a long overstay. It's more expensive than border runs, so when border runs were easy, why overstay?

Great, please report back how it went.

Money transfers over the festive season
There will be plenty of bank holidays at both ends, so it's safe to assume that there will be delays.

K+app: face scan for everything required
It's more likely a case of certain activities triggering the need to register for face scans and that there's no going back once that happens. The most obvious example is getting a new phone. No matter how well your K-Plus app used to work on your old phone without face scans, you won't be able to switch phones without face scan nowadays. So you'll need to go through the procedure at the branch, even if you never plan to make any transactions above the threshold requiring a face scan.

Recommendation for easiest bank to open account for non imm O
Thai account numbers start with a branch code anyway, so having separate branch information in the SWIFT message is redundant.

New rules issued for visa extensions and visa-exempt entries
Yes, it's for real. They can check an applicant's eligibility with their contacts in immigration before collecting the passport. To which extent pre-screening is even necessary if you already have a sympathetic/lenient/motivated IO at your disposal is anyone's guess. I don't doubt the outcome in any case - the agent in question has a reputation for delivering what they promise.

Bangkok Bank have locked my 400,000 baht balance for 4 months?
Bangkok Bank hasn't always given me a new passbook when I've registered a new passport with them. I don't know their criteria for issuing a new one. Kasikorn Bank has never given me a new passbook when I've registered a new passport with them. If there's a standard operating procedure, I have no idea what it is.

Poll: Do you think that the USA is in its GOLDEN AGE?
He's been accelerating America's downfall, just as expected. So I'd call it a success.

Foreign Visitors Face Rabbit Card Re-Registration at BTS Station
I could have been clearer, sorry. Besides using the card for BTS trips and the odd purchase, I also topped up my Rabbit card at a BTS station on Thursday. They just took my cash as per usual, they didn't ask for my passport. As I use the card pretty much on a daily basis, I usually top it up every 1-2 weeks.

Kasikorn Bank and WISE is a winning combination, you cannot go wrong with that. Regarding a foreign check deposit, I'd say it's not a good idea with regards to the seasoning requirement - it might take a long time for the check to clear.

Immigration problems with DTV?
If what you wrote is true, someone at the embassy or consulate where agent-assisted applications sail through smoothly is cashing in on it, NOT immigration. Certain IOs at certain points of entry will probably try to get their cut selling their "safe entry" service to DTV holders, so that's something that might need to be priced in eventually.

Thai English Proficiency Slips Further Down Global Rankings
Yes, definitely. I don't blame the students for this, but their parents and teachers.

Thai English Proficiency Slips Further Down Global Rankings
That doesn't surprise me. Relatively few Thais seem to value education, not limited to acquiring foreign language skills.

China Comments on Thai-Cambodian Border Weapon Seizure
So how about Thailand using American-made F16 fighter jets? A bit silly to single out China for Cambodia's use of Chinese-made weapons!

Thailand’s Feb 8 Election to Go Ahead Despite Border Conflict
These border clashes would be a really lame excuse for postponing the election, even by Thai standards.

For those of you who haven't got a house cleaner
That's all very well, but my maid also cleans my kitchen and bathrooms. Vacuum cleaning the floors is the least of my worries, I wouldn't even mind doing that myself (unlike the other stuff).

Western union
When you pick up a Western Union transfer, they are only interested in ID, not in seeing proof of address. In the case of a foreigner in Thailand, bring your passport.
