  1. If the money has been in your bank account for a long time, you might not need to prove that it came from abroad for your initial visa application. I don't know specifically how the Phuket IO handles his though. For an extension based on money in the bank, you don't need to prove that the money came from abroad.
  2. Did anyone ask the nagas if they want to be used and abused like this?
  3. The official list for foreigners is quite restricted. For example, it specifically mentions Thai DLs. Foreign DLs not accepted, and neither are copies of passports and etc. https://www.airportthai.co.th/en/which-documents-are-accepted-for-domestic-travel❓/ As always, this is Thailand and actual experiences are probably all over the place.
  4. Like they never make mistakes, either honest ones or less honest ones to extort people. Sounds naive to me.
  5. Her reign was short and ridiculously painful.
  6. Disregard your embassy's advice to do anything at immigration where you live. As you're in Thailand visa exempt, you can just leave with your old passport AND the ETD. Immigration at the border will transfer your entry stamp to the ETD and stamp you out in the ETD. The catch might be Laos, no idea if they accept British ETDs for inbound travel. Personally and to be on the safe side, I'd go to the Lao embassy in Bangkok and apply for a visa. If they agree to put a visa in your ETD, you should be good to go.
  7. Burning season has started, end of the story. Stop acting surprised if you can't stop the burning.
  8. Do they really hope to attract the kind of tourist who would struggle to keep their home heated back home? Looks like desperation to me. Apparently they cannot attract the well-heeled segment in the numbers they dreamed up.
  9. Lock him up. Trump that is, not the special master.
  10. Same every year, and yet it always seems to come as a complete surprise to the competent authorities.
  11. In practice, getting the 30 day extension is pretty much guaranteed, so you can stay for 75 days. Unfortunately, that doesn't change the requirement that you need a flight out when entering visa exempt, within the time you're originally permitted to stay that is (45 days in this case). If your airline enforces this requirement, that's what you're supposed to show.
  12. 7/11s only accept TrueMoney for QR code payments, not PromptPay. Which annoys me as well
  13. Coming from a Western country that had had AML regulations for cash transactions at banks even before I moved to Thailand more than a decade before, it has always baffled me that you can effectively deposit unlimited amounts of cash into whatever bank account anonymously. That being said, I've found those cash deposit machines convenient to put money into my own account, and I've never bothered to stick in my card. Looks like that will have to change.
  14. It's not often that he says something sensible, but this is just common sense.
  15. They sure seem to be naughty guys in Qatar, they've come up with regards to monkeypox cases again and again.
  16. Nobody cares about yet another Omicron variant anymore.
  17. Nowadays you need to clear immigration at whatever airport your flight into Thailand from abroad lands. If you want to clear immigration in Chiang Mai, you have to arrive there on an international flight, let's say from Singapore.
  18. If you transit in Bangkok, you will have to clear immigration there, not in Chiang Mai.
  19. You've got to "love" how enterprising they are!
  20. The extension is 30 days, unchanged.
  21. Not for "Current Address", they want to know where you are currently staying in HCMC. The visa application form of the Thai consulate in HCMC has another field though, "Proposed Address in Thailand".
  22. Current address: Hotel in Vietnam Local Guarantor: N/A Guarantor in Thailand: Your spouse, yes
  23. Having two recent overstays in your passport, including quite a long one, won't look great to say the least. Definitely apply for a tourist visa and don't attempt to enter visa exempt. Chiang Mai airport is probably a safer bet than any of the Bangkok airports. Make sure you have a ticket out, money, a hotel booking and proof of your hospitalization that caused your overstay ready if challenged.
