I would think it would be cheaper, poor quality, unreliable, corrupt, and never really work properly - like everything else.
  2. An 8-minute video describing the censorship behind what we see and hear on much of the internet: AI-Powered Censors Are Coming For Podcasts If these companies get their way, all podcasts will soon be filtered through “safety” algorithms.
  3. Solved the mask/covid/jab issues: Intelligent, educated, well-informed, people always comprise a small minority. Think about it.
  4. "Motorcyclist dies in Thailand". That supplies several dozen news stories every day ...
  5. I can use ChatGPT, too! Answer: Yes, it is possible for a westerner to retire in the Philippines. The country has a friendly and welcoming culture, a lower cost of living, and a warm climate that appeals to many retirees. Moreover, senior citizens in the Philippines are treated with respect and care, which is why many foreigners choose to spend their retirement years in the country. In addition to these favorable conditions, the Philippine government has a retirement program called the Special Resident Retiree's Visa (SRRV) that provides benefits and incentives to foreign retirees who qualify for the program. The SRRV program allows foreign retirees to live and stay in the Philippines indefinitely and enjoy various perks such as tax exemptions on pensions and other benefits. The SRRV program has several categories based on age, investment requirements, and tenure in the Philippines. For example, a retiree who is 50 years old or older can qualify by depositing a minimum of US$10,000 in an authorized Philippine bank account. Other categories have different requirements such as investing in real estate or a Philippine-based business or having a monthly pension of at least US$1,500. Overall, retiring in the Philippines through the SRRV program is an attractive option for westerners who want to enjoy their retirement years in a sunny and welcoming environment while receiving benefits and incentives from the government.
  6. This is a lie. Is it, dramatically, "a lie" or is it just "wrong".
  7. North East from Bang Saen, stops in Chonburi.
  8. Suspect it's because they've never been able to figure out the buses there either. There is a rumor that there are big blue & white buses that ply Sukhumvit between Bangkok and Pattaya and maybe points south but when and where they stop seems to be a secret. There is one train per day each direction, maybe two (only on weekends?) linking Chonburi and Pattaya. But SRT guards this info as well.
  9. But, but ... Airports of Thailand, a state-owned airport operator, is 70% controlled by the finance ministry. AOT lost a lot of money the last couple of years due to the global plandemic hysteria.
  10. GrabFood No.1* Food Delivery App is totally not available in English! There, FIFY
  11. I see the Line Man app requires that you give them all your Line contacts. No fluppin' way. I also see that Line Man is looking to buy FoodPanda. Another case of a good European service that will be ruined by Asian ownership. Same as Lazada, Makro, Tesco, Carrefour, Casino ...
  12. This just in: Thailand's provincial governors consider exit tax for Thais and foreign permanent residents wishing to leave their province of residence. Thailand's city mayors said to be looking on with envy.
  13. Leftover food, delivered in the heat, on spec... You go first.
  14. It may help to keep in mind that sweating is a major route for the body to rid itself of toxins. Within reason, it's healthful to sweat. And from a financial perspective what you've got here is a free sauna.
  15. Ok, as a very late adopter I'm getting up to speed. I see that even the menu items available at a particular restaurant may vary between apps ... I've also found that for GrabFood on a laptop browser the restaurant menu items are text (rather than the images in the phone app) so they are more readily translated. Laptop shopping seems much easier. And what's the deal with GrabPay? Linking GrabPay to a bank card sounds like it may be a security concern. But there are discounts for doing so ...
  16. Been exploring FoodPanda. It's ALL in perfectly legible English! What a pleasure! The clumsy GrabFood has just been relegated to a distant 2nd choice ...
  17. From where exactly did you get this image? Is it after you've clicked on a particular restaurant? Which restaurant is it so that we also can try it? Is the menu language option available only for some restaurants? Which "translation app" works for you? Google translate does not work, apparently as the text in the Grab food app is actually images. (?)
  18. Are they calling the food delivery part of the Grab app the 'GrabFood app'? No 'GrabFood app' appears in Google Play. The usual nonsense, it seems. Unclear instructions and no 3 lines that I could find. Just installed the FoodPanda app and at first glance it seems to have more English ... even on the restaurant food menus.
