  1. more than 15 years here... working... Work permit was the easiest part to get. takes max 3 days.. every time! All i need is my passport, photo, 3100 baht.. rest my company doing all. when i gave my passport and all, i get everything back ready in 3 days, sure.

immigration part was the nightmare always... And they started to ask more paper work every time... So thats why i moved to NON-O and no deal with imm anymore.

  2. I dont believe you can have another contract with another work. Part time yes but 2 contracts no. I think its not about your 1st contract company but about thai immigration law

one of my friends tried to do something like this and denied by the labor office. They told him he can have only one contract work. I think he tried this like 1.5 year ago

If the OP's school takes care of visas, its easier to be on a non-B visa. No income requirements/requiring to live with your wife, etc. The only benefit, I see, is that if you have more time to change jobs, or take a few months off on an extension based on marriage on the mothtly salary method. I'm on a non-B, but have been in the same school since 2001, and my school takes care of the paperwork. If I was to change schools now, I would probably for the 400K (in the bank) based on marriage route.

Well, he doesnt want NO-B because hes in 20 countries that needs to go back to their country and get non-b from thai embassy in his country. To go back and do that things.. costs great amount of money.

Thats why hes on non-b plus he doesnt want to do all immigration nightmare. But as i said he told me hes tired and bored of going and coming back to thailand every 90 days, but so far my understanding is, even hes on 1 year non-b he must do 90 days... so i will give him all info

    thnx

    Yes, there are.

There's no minimum wage requirement, even 15,000 baht per month would satisfy immigration and labor department.

The OP made the statement that his friend does not want to apply for a Non-B.  It's possible to convert his current Non-O at the local Immigration, and the Non-O status will continue, and the applicant has to visit the Immigration every 90 days.

Or is he/she employed as a trainer or assistant? I was on a Non-O ME before but then extended my visa at the local Immigration because it was inconvenient to leave every 90 days.

He/she will need the same documents required for a Non-B, plus the marriage certificate.

Does the OP's friend have a provisional teacher's license from the Teacher's Council of Thailand?

No need license, hes teaching at a university. Marketing & logistics.. Bur he has work permit and all. And his salary just been 40K this month, so he doesnt need to show last year tax papers.

Correct. The Non O is granted to visit your wife. You can also get a 60-day extension to visit your wife.

However, a one-year extension of stay on the basis of marriage to a Thai follows different rules. The marriage must be de jure (married according to the law) and de facto (a current marriage with the husband and wife living together).

I am aware that genuine marriages where people must spend most of the time apart exist, but Thai immigration does not accommodate this in their rules.

thanks Brit, so what happens if they stay together like when they come to check or something like that? Do they call you like 2-3 days before the house visit? Also do they want photos like together doing things?

    thnx

    1) He's getting the visa based on living in Thailand with his wife, so yeah, they "need" to live together. But different offices have different ways of checking it. Some will visit their house to check that they're living together, some require them to bring a witness to the immigration office to say that they're living together, others will interview neighbors when they visit their house to check if they're living together. He might get away with it, he might not.

    2) Not needed for 90 days, but after they have successfully handed in their application (which might not be accepted the first time they come to the immigration office), he'll get an Under Consideration stamp in his passport, and will have to come back for the actual extension stamp after one month. The wife might need to come with him then, depends on the office.

thnx for the info, but have some questions or ideas here..

actually you get non-o NOT for living together but for married with a thai. (please correct me if im wrong) Although yes i understand they want to check this... But what if they are married like 6-7 years already?

and i mentioned that its impossible they can live together because of his wife's work.. Shes a government director at a school in another city.. So its not an option that she can change her school where her husband is BUT government give them a list of schools that need new directors every 2-3 years...

Another thing is if the wife and the husband are thai... yes one of them can apply for the others city.. but if its farang.. no other one cannot apply. interesting.. so they should consider this at immigration. His wife is not like.. has a normal job!

    thanks

Honestly, this is exactly the reason they are becoming hard on all of us. We all get lumped into one big bowl because of the people trying to keep staying here that obviously need to do a better thing than trying to do back to backs or escape evading the system anyway they can. The fingerprints will all link you to a repeat too many time offender, so you need a better plan or need to just stay away. The days of no problem are gone and so good luck to you. Get a job here or get married or do a retirement if old enough or an elite visa. But please stop making it hard for all the above the table retiree or other long term foreigners doing the correct way. They just will make more hurdles for everyone to jump thus possible to ruin everyone's day and life.

For the ones who are in the same boat for what your doing, your post is important.

    Again good luck.

    Totally agreed! well said sir!

With all respect to the post owner, but yes your one of the reasons why things are getting worst here for ppl doing things properly.

It is gross annual income (minimum of 480k baht) that really counts. He will be proving his income by way of tax payment receipts and his annual tax return for last year if he was working then.

A housing allowance is considered income.

Thank you Ubon. Please answer some other questions also if you can:

    1) Wife needs to live together as someone mentioned before or not? ( due to his wife work they are not in the same city, shes a director of a government school). I dont think they need to live together. If so do you think they will accept about her work?

    2) Wife needed for every 12 months no problem, but for every 90 days too?

    3) From your answer i take it as he can and able to extend his non-o visa, yes?

thanks a lot for your answers

He needs to show 40,000 Baht a month.

His Wife would have to live with him and go with him every time he applies for 12 month extension.

    1,900 Baht fee.

He would apply in the area he lives.

He would do 90 day reports at the same office.

thanks for the info. Well like i said that 40K is 32,000 salary + 8,000 house accommodation. But in his payment slip it shows all his income but like i said before in his contract its only 32K. So which one they look at? Also no its impossible that he can live with the wife because his wife is a school director in another city and hes working in another city. They come and check? She can go with him to the imm. every 12 months. What about the 90 days? he has to do 90 days with the wife?

If you have to stay the night in Nakhon Phanom, the hotels are ridiculously good value if you book online in advance. There is a van that picks up in Nakhon Phanom from wherever your hotel is. I can't remember the price but it is fair. The airport is quite a way from the town.

I am not sure what you mean by "go by tuk-tuk". There is an international bus from the bus station to Laos so there is no need to travel anywhere by tuk-tuk.

    thnx

i am a tourist and have stayed here for years never doing a tm30 once. i mean hell 50% of the time the reception does not even ask for my passport. its the responsibility of the hotel/apartment to do this stuff for tourists.

living in thailand for 14 years and where ever i go for travel and where ever i stayed the first thing they asked me is my passport. Im not sure your telling the whole story here. Plus i also read some of your other answers in this post and tbh they are fishy too.

Straightforward bus trip from Nakhon Phanom bus station to Tha Khaek bus station. About one hour each way give or take. Visa on arrival is available. Friendly Laos immigration staff. Not busy at all. Most non-Laos travellers are Viets as vans run from Vietnam.

Tha Khaek is a bit of a dump. Much smaller than Savannakhet. Nakhon Phanom is nicer to stay. It also has an airport for easy transport.

    great info. thanks

im planning to do my NON-O 90 days there. take the plane.. go by tuktuk and come back on the same day by plane.

  13. Hi,

This question is from one of my friends.

He told me that he has salary of 32,000 Thai baht plus 8,000 house accommodation. Which makes 40K. Now the thing is on his contract there's no sign of that 8,000 house accommodation but its written on his salary / payment slip from his work with all stamps and all. And yes hes getting it. (lot of info on this slip, such as; salary/tax/house accomm./etc.). He has work permit too. But he lives in another city from his wife just because of work. He's married for 6-7 years and living in Thailand for 14 years, no children.

    Now chain of questions starts:

    1) Can he apply for 1 year extension of his NON-O visa with this kind of salary payment? He's tired of going to another country and come back to Thailand on the same day every 90 days. And yes he will not get NON-B just to avoid immigration hell. If its possible:

     a) What documents he needs?

     b) Which immigration he needs to go to? (work area immigration or house area immigration)

     c) Wife should be at the immigration when doing all the paper work first time?

     d) Does he need to go to immigration for 90 days report and which immigration? (work area immigration or house area immigration)

-If wife needed, does he need her every 90 days report?

     e) Is this thing costs any money / fee?

Please feel free to add any extra info he needs. In my opinion he cannot apply just because of salary 32,000. I think immigration doesn't care about the house accommodation.

thanks a lot for the help

  14. Hi guys,

I tried to find a similar topic but couldnt see, probably couldnt find.

So, i have non-o multi. Will i loose it if i go out of the country 1 day overstay?

I know i have to pay 500 baht. Im ok with that. But i dont want to loose my non-o visa. And yes i will come back to thailand the same day. 90 day thing. Place is Mukdahan - savanakhet border.

    thanks
