It is unknown when the border crossing will open again and what the requirements will be then.
If the borders open to Laos there is no reason at this time you could not apply for a multiple entry non-o visa at the consulate in Savannakhet.
There are no bubbles yet.
47 minutes ago, BritTim said:Travel bubbles do not yet exist. Countries in the region that are Covid-19 free have decided to protect their citizens against reentry of the virus into Thailand by the use of strict border controls. The concept of a travel bubble is that bilateral agreements would be made between two countries that are Covid-19 free to allow much easier travel between those countries. It is unknown at the current time if travel bubbles will become a reality and, if so, when.
thank you guys

hi guys,
So i keep hearing things about this travel limitations or bubble thing or numbers who can visit thailand or enter the kingdom... or likewise
So if i have a work permit and non-o multi visa, after july, i cannot go to laos and get a new visa? Also they say if i can get a visa most likely i have to stay 14 days in quarantine at a hotel room selected by the government... plus this corona insurance and corona free certificate from a hospital not more than 72 hrs seems to be for real. Its for sure there will be no TR visa for a really long time for europe or america.
Basically can someone explain me what are these numbers who can enter the kingdom (22.000 / 2000 / 100 thing)? What is this bubble thing?
Am a wrong or there is no chance to get a non-o multi for at least 2-3 months even the borders are open after july?
thanks

thanks great help

You only had one visa that expired and that does not matter now since you're already in the country.
Your 90 day permit to stay expired at some time and that is the only thing that matters now.
You could of applied for a 60 day extension to visit your wife when your 90 days ended. You can still apply for one on or before July 31st if needed.
You need to contact your local office about applying for a one year extension of stay while on the "automatic extension" your on now. Some offices do not consider it a extension of your 90 day non-o visa entry.
If you filed a tax return for last year you will need a copy of it and monthly tax payment receipts to prove your 40k baht income.
thanks Joe,
i will check the situation with the nonthaburi immigration today afternoon and update the info for the people having the same issue. But first need a new passport anyway which means at least 2 weeks

Hi guys,
So i have a work permit with my NON-O multi visa. My visa expired March, but i had my last 90days re-entry so my stamp expired on 5thMay. Also my passport date will expire in April 2021. Im planning to get a new passport via my embassy which will take 2 weeks time. So i will apply in next week. I dont have 400K in the bank at the moment but my salary is more than 40K. Im married. My work permit will expire in September. Not did any extensions with my visa yet in thailand. Company did us covid insurance. Never did TM30 because never went to immigration for 5-6 years now. i believe there are many we are on the same boat. Questions:
- I know i can apply for 1 year extension due to salary. BUT as you can see my all visas are expired. And im under auto visa thing. Can get a new passport before July. So can i still apply for a 1 year extension even though my visas?
- If i can apply for 1 year extension due to salary i can imagine these things are needed as documents please edit if i hadnt included something:
1) marriage certificate original & copy
2) wife goes with me (although shes working for the government and she has a high position so we cannot live together at the moment, but i believe she can come here for a couple of days to help me with the visa)
3) salary slip of the last month or like last 6 months?
4) letter from my company about my salary?
5) my contract?
6) wife house papers.
7) marriage photos and other photos as well?
8) .....
- if i cannot apply for any kind of extension should i wait for the end of july and go to savanakhet and get a new non-o with a my new passport and get a 1 year extension? and again what docs i need? Im reading things like they will not give non-o visa yet even though borders and embassy is open, is it true or just ideas? I also heard there are numbers like how many farang can enter thailand, is it also true? I have work permit but on non-o visa so if they dont give non-o visa, can i still get non-o because of my valid work permit? I cannot get a non-b because im in the 22 countries which i have to get it from my country only.
- if nothing can be done, do i have any other options?
thanks

Could my GF set up the company? She is Thai and living in BKK.
let me give you a solid short answer:
-yes she can set up a company because she is a thai and she can open or start a business without any problem. Yes she can give you a work permit BUT first of all she needs a permit from the labor office or similar office that states her company needs a foreigner to do a specific job or work which thai citizen is not capable of to do that (example; english language school needs a native speaker teacher OR Mexican restaurant hires a mexican, etc.) If she can proves that its a job or work only you can do, no problem she can get the permission. My friends wife has a real estate business, she hired her husband to sell or rent houses to foreigners in another countries. You can see these kinda thing in pattaya often.
-yes you can start a business in your name, if you invest 2mil baht. (it was like this few years ago im not sure how much nowadays). And if you do so you can get a visa for 2 years and extend it like every 2 yrs.
good luck
PS: i know this because i tried to do this like 5 yrs ago. So if it changed please correct me, thanks. Bu i think its still the same

Actually, my expectation is that the passport country will not matter. I envisage all the countries in a travel bubble having the same quarantine requirement and other restrictions for those entering from infected countries. If, say, travelling from the US to Thailand, you would have to undergo quarantine in Thailand before onward travel to another Covid-19 free country within the bubble. That is what will enable relatively safe travel (even with full planes) between virus free countries. All this is going to take time to negotiate, but is clearly in the interests of the countries involved.
i agree with this one. I was also thinking the most important is where you are entering the country. If you are coming from a low-level danger country i think things will be different then someone coming directly from the USA or Brazil...

1 hour ago, blackcab said:It's worse than that. The announcement says that everyone will have to pay for $165 testing. Then, if any one person on the plane tests positive, everyone in the plane will be quarantined. Everyone will then pay $1,281 for their quarantine, whether they test positive or not. If you test positive, your treatment and quarantine will cost a minimum of $3,255.
First you need a $50,000 medical insurance policy and a covid 19 negative test in the previous 3 days.
Enter Cambodia, then pay for a test. You then have to gamble $1,281 and 14 days on whether anyone else in the flight has the virus. Hopefully, your health insurance will refund you for this part of the process. If everyone tests negative, it's self isolation at your home address/hotel and another test on day 13.
You must really, really need to enter Cambodia to go through that. One positive result and everyone is locked up.
this was exactly my point. lol and imagine Laos will do the same. So far Laos want only medical certificate and 14 days self-quarantine. No money so far.

If you do not want any kind of qualification then, well, the borders are open right now. If you are seriously ill, medical evacuation through the border to reach a hospital in Thailand is permitted with prior authorisation. However, what is of interest to most people is whether they can travel freely across the border (as was possible prior to the Covid-19 pandemic) without quarantine or other onerous requirements. I am saying that free movement across the border in the way we were familiar with in the past will definitely not be possible in July.
Agreed. I think health certificate and some other docs will be needed. Also it seems 14 day quarantine seems for sure. And cambodia is asking for 3000$ deposit + many other payments for test and so on.
-
Let me add up another thing. Lets say Laos will do the same things or Thailand. Now imagine how many people can bring 3000$ with them. Also many people staying in thailand already started to ask money from their parents or friends.
It will be a nightmare for the people in my situation: After july, go to Laos to get a new NON-O visa. 14 days in laos + 3000$. We all know that a very normal level hotel is around 400-500 baht in Savanakhet.. Daily food and so on.. you will spend min 1000 baht per day. dude...

Agreed with Britmantoo. Just saw on the news today, ThaiAirways planning NOT to fly till end of August. I think they will let everyone stay in thailand till end of August.
Although it doesnt mean they will not open bars and so on. They are planning to let drink at the restaurants again very soon.

yes. And also think like this: You go for a new NON-O ... 14 days in laos or cambodia and another 14 days in thailand... 28 days... damn

So cambodia says this.. I hope Laos dont do the same or 14 days quarantine ????
https://kh.usembassy.gov/new-cambodia-entry-requirements-and-covid-19-update/
they ask 3000$ deposit to enter the country. And many other payments from all foreigners will enter the country. this is a big problem and means lot. Imagine Laos will do the same thing... or Thailand..
You leave thailand to get a new NON-O visa and omg.. nightmare to come back. Also there is 14 days quarantine too for both Cambodia and Laos at the moment.

Well the topic asks our opinions about whats coming next to SAV.
I would say these are good to do things:
- Have some insurance for COVID. Im telling this because my company did it for us and HR said we probably going to need it to extend our WP and visas. So i would suggest to have one before leave thailand. They are very cheap.
- COVID check. Go to a hospital and tell them you need a health certificate saying you dont have covid. I suggest you get it like 10 days before your leaving. Effect for covid is 14 days. So if you get it in 10 days it means your still ok. This certificate might help you to get visa for LAOS and THAILAND.
- Take your work permit (if you have one) with you to show just in any case. Because i read some people keep saying there might be some problems with NON-O multi. I dont think so because you are coming from thailand and asking a new visa the very same day you entered Laos.
- I dont think its the best idea to be in the group of first leavers. I mean wait and see what people who left and come back from SAV. You might pay 2-3 days overstay but im sure it worth to have a nightmare in Laos.
Now, here the main question is, if the thai embassy will be open or not and willing to give visas. Probably yes. because in laos all schools are on and if im not mistaken all government offices too. Also life getting normal in thailand too. Many places are reopened. They might ask health certificate taken from a Laos hospital though, make sense.
Another question is, will laos open its border to huge number of farangs. I think yes, both thailand and laos lost serious money from visa fees.
Will there be some problems at SAV? logic says yes. They might start appointment system due to huge number of farangs or people cant get their visas the next day... etc. Im pretty sure the first week will be hell.
NON-O multi will have problem? I dont think so.
TR visa problem, probably yes. SAV started to be very careful.
thats all i can imagine ????
NON-O multi will have problem? I dont think so.

thai nationals and neighbouring countries to thailand are SEEMS free to travel ONLY border cross. I know a cambodian waitress who just went to her hometown and come back like a week ago or maybe 2. But its only for land border. its only for who hold border pass. Also this one im not sure but one of my friend told me his friend (thai national) went to Laos and came back like 2-3 days ago

I assume you are married to a Thai and obtained your Non Imm O ME on that basis.
You could apply for a 1 year extension of stay at your local Immigration office as an alternative to crossing the border at sometime to obtain a new 'Visa' and therefore dodge any Covid 'entry' requirements.
For a very first application of an extension based on marriage you would require 400K deposited in a Thai bank for 2 months prior to the date of application, OR 2 x 40K monthly overseas transfer.
Depending on your nationality, an Embassy Income letter is a further alternative.
hi and thanks for the advice, though i know the process and i dont have 400K in the bank, thats why i got multi-o ???? living in khon kaen for 14 years.. im very happy with non-o multi. Not want to do 400K or 40K thing

Don't you think you should read the news and keep track on restrictions etc etc?
On 5/15/2020 at 10:58 AM, brewsterbudgen said:I would. An announcement will be made some time before 31 July, either extending the amnesty again, or reminding people they must leave Thailand (or do their visa run) before 31 July.
Hi, thanks for the advice. Of course im following things but not everyday trying to find something. I check thaivisa like every 4-5 days. I think we all agree that immigration is a joke in thailand but i also think they wont change it easily a date they already gave officially. Im also seriously not intend to leave the country to get a new visa the very first day they open borders. Im ok with few over-stay days to see whats going on (i believe they will tell us to leave in 7 day not like in 1 day). My fear is that Savannakhet will start same regulations with Vientienne, appointment or more paper work, corona check from hospital in last 14 days (im kinda pretty sure of this), etc. Because we all know that place will be a nightmare in first 1-2 weeks.

its up to your blue card or which company it is. If its one of that useless insurance companies.. then yes no good. But this one im talking about is my company did it just for covid. So it must work. but i dont know about 100K they are talking about.
