  1. Yes I totally get it......

But could the person not tell lies to obtain that legal document?

I know its an offence, but come on , you know as well as I do some folk dont give a rats ass about something like that

Absolutely. Oz pension with current exchange is 40 k well below the 65 k.

But it's the structure of the legal document that removes all responsibility from the embassy.

As somebody already mentioned you could pledge your alliance to the almighty chicken [emoji215] God and as long as you pay 2k and its your signature then they will rubber stamp it without needing to see the chicken

  2. Ask yourself this then....
Do the American, Aussie embassies currently show proof, or do they just accept under affirmation, what their customers tell them?
Oz does but it's different. It's a statutory deceleration and a legal document. The embassy only verifies the signature after the person has written it. The embassy is not held liable in anyway using that method it falls back on writer.
  3. Tinnies..in Jomtien has the best pies outside australia. It's an Aus owner with a serious baking kitchen that's immaculate. He does eat in meals. Also so does a huge selection of pastries. I wish they'd put it on foodpanda. They have large sizes that are frozen if you have an oven for reheat.
Rave reviews on google and tripadvisor. Worth a trip to stock up.

Isn't it 200 baht plus four a pie? Growing up in oz I always looked at pies as a quick fix to fill the hole. Certainly not a dine in experience.

Will have to try one next time in jomtien and see if I'm wrong
  4. Yes Im a new to joining in on the comments people make on this site. But i have read the post and even copied direct from the Govt website the details for you all to see.

By the way i have been looking at this site for 18 months...so not wet behind my ears.

Just decided to join in with this discussion as most people on here are up in arms about what is happening.

Cant see the problem really...why travel half way across the world to live counting the bht.

During my year living in Bkk i encounted many many retirees moaning about currency exchange dwindling their money.

And about having to now go rent a place for 3000 bht a month to survive.

I was just making my comments known in this free world of communication that if you dont have the money why stay there.

I enjoyed Thailand whilst living there but find it expensive apart from housing to rent and transport.

Food and drink expensive compared to the UK.

And looking back on a lot of comments over the last 18 months on here re cost of living in Thailand

I have not said anything different that many others have said about it being expensive now.

As i also said...if you cant abide by the financial rules laid down by the Govt of the land you choose to live then seems maybe you must not be contributing to the economy of the country.

They are now more interested in having tourists that come spend lots of money for 2 weeks or a month then go.

Not people that decide to retire with little or no finances to go to the shopping malls and spend thousands of bht every week or month.

And please dont reply by saying retirees do contribute by keeping a thai wife and her brood of kids from a thai husband and look after her family.

Thats not helping the economy...thats just the retiree throwing his money away.

"And please dont reply by saying retirees do contribute by keeping a thai wife and her brood of kids from a thai husband and look after her family.

Thats not helping the economy...thats just the retiree throwing his money away."

    Ain't that the truth!

  5. The pavement outside the Kasikorn Bank on South Pattaya Road is a parking place for motorcycles and has easy access via the kerb side ramps ...  one just has to sidestep the motorcycles as they drive up onto the parking facility... TIT. It's a good job most of the Sois in Pattaya don't have pavements...... well not ones you could walk on anyway !!
They have pavements but they were stolen
  6.

Really?  I have friends with kitchens that have full sized ovens with 4 gas burners on top.

Your probably in the country though. I'm in bangkok surrounded by a zillion resteraunts.

Can't think of a single meal I would cook in an oven. Back home yes eg leg of lamb, beef roast..

I just use the Slow cooker, a stir frying pan and the microwave is great for fatty meat.

  7. The screws just keep tightening here. 90 day check in's, address registrations, more involved and complicated process. I have to come to Thailand on business and have no choice in the matter but I am happy to recommend Panama to people who are fed up with what Thailand is becoming. You can still get your residency in Panama with just a pension or social security of $1000 USD/month and a one time cost of $7-8k USD for the residency program. I did mine years ago and love the fact that I can own land and a home as well as enjoy permanent residency and never have to worry about immigration or a check in every again. This is the company I used if anyone is interested https://www.joyful-feet.com
Even for you guys that aren't retired regardless of age I think it is about $8k USD for permanent residency.
We are all here or at least came here for the girls. How does that stack up in Panama?

  8. If posters are afraid of even keeping money in banks in Thailand they shouldn't even be in the country in the first place, some of the banks are some of the safest around, Bank of Ayudhya for example is part of Bank Mitsubishi (Tokyo) which has assets in the trillions of USD.
He is from the 'never invest in Thailand what you can't walk away from " brigade

Old dinasoures throwing around that same old chestnut until they actually believe it.

  9. The US Consulate still provides the letter BUT Immigration requires proof.  So the letter means nothing in reality. Another epic scam.  And it used to be you could simply show your Social Security being deposited in a US bank.  Now, not so sure.

You could even have a million bucks cash in a US bank and be refused renewal. Even God cannot understand why he did what he did.  lol

Tell me why immigration don't require income proof for oz statuary declaration but do so for the yanks?

I know Americans who are staying here that couldn't if they needed proof

You maybe talking about a specific office only

  10. As an American I am cofused?  So The British Embassy is now announcing the future actions of the American Embassy? I have an appointment next to get the Income Affidavit.  Should I cancel my appointment?
"Yes we are aware that the US embassy will also be stopping their notarised income letter.  Please contact them directly for further information"

I can't see why they would make that up. It's also very strange they would volunteer that information before an announcement
