Never had any problems with Wise, or even when it was Transferwise. Do monthly transfer to Bkk Bank for Immigration, which arrives next day as a Foreign Transfer, and my on recent trip to Dubai, I never touched any Dirham, simply tapped my Wise Card. Had a slight problem with one transaction which was sorted by their 'monkeys' within 24 hours. I get good exchange rates in both cases.

Just back from a week in Dubai. What a horrible, congested, expensive concrete place. Never again even if it was no 30!

As far as I can gather, annual bank statements are necessary and NOT just the bank book. Hence the many posts complaining that for example, Bkk Bank takes a week to provide the 12 month statements. That's my point. But if you got away with it, good luck, and regards to the IO who bypassed the rules.

Breakfast buffets are not a good idea as the food is kept warm until it needs replacing.. Was recently at a hotel in Dubai, breakfast included or Bht 600 to pay for. A good selection of cold, continental and warm food, but the latter was kept in a bain marie ie hot water, which was only just warm enough. Only cold plates available, and once it was at your table under the air con, it was cold in 5 minutes. I 'complained' but it made no difference. Freshly cooked is far better.

That is usually if you have selected 'for long term stay' or 'buying property in Thailand'. Most other times it is almost instant.

I do not think the DWP will pay in anything but GBP, and not much of it either! You need to get a GBP cushion in your Wise GBP account, and convert to THB as and when you think 'the time (rate) is right'. Then do your monthly transfer to your Thai bank, preferably one of their Partner banks, leaving time and money in advance.

Does it really matter where Wise get the money from, be it State Pension, property rental or sister's immoral earnings. If they have got your money, they should send it. A small bit of advice...if you know you will need the money on say Wednesday, send it on Monday.
