  1. You're right insofar as a control by police is concerned. It's you on the driving licence and you live in Thailand. I'd be more worried about an overzealous car rental employee though. I've rented over ten times with my Thai driving license in Brussels with no problem. Once though the rental employee said "Thailand?? don't you have another driving license?". The way he said it suggested a Thai driving license was not a valid one. I pointed out I lived in Thailand and the license was in English. The take-home point is that acceptance by the police is not equal acceptance by the rental agencies. That's why I have a good mind to go through the hassle of getting an international permit although legally I wouldn't need one. I assume that in order to get an international permit and have the passport number updated, you need a certificate of residence again (two of them?).
  2. It could only be an issue if you drive with your Thai driving license outside Thailand. In that case carrying your old (cancelled) passport or copies of it should put you on the right side of the law. I got my 5-year renewal in Thailand through a Pattaya agency. I pointed out the fact that the passport number on the new 5-year driving license would soon no longer match my passport as the latter would soon expire. The agency man shrugged his shoulders and said not to worry about that.
  3. Only in certain countries where they accept a driving license in English. Belgium is one such country. Other countries (France, Germany) require either the international driving license, or a certified translation in the national language. If you drive only in one of those EU countries, a translation maybe best because it remains valid as long as the driving license is valid. An international driving license has a very limited validity if I'm not mistaken (1 year?). It is sometimes difficult to find what particular countries accept or not. For example I googled for hours but could find nothing regarding Austria.
  4. This may be an issue of copyrights or industrial designs, but certainly not one of patents!
  5. I don't have any travel insurance. I live in TH and I have world-wide coverage (Cigna). Whenever I file a refund claim there a box to tick regarding whether the claim is because of an accident or not. Up to now I never had to tick the box. A friend said he had once a light motorbike accident but he lied about it. He reported instead having fallen somewhere. So if I rent a motorbike a good move is to see to it that it doesn't exceed 125cc?
  6. What's the deal with scooters/motorbikes accidents? I don't mean the semantics. I mean would insurances routinely reject claims if an accident is a motorbike accident? How can you be covered then?
  7. Maybe it was just much too strong.
  8. Maybe the OP has something to sell?
  9. I remember reading that if it's very superficial, like "right under the rib", it shouldn't be a heart issue. It could have to do with exercising/stretching. There's also a condition called "pericarditis", much less serious than heart disease but requiring treatment.
  10. Immigration offices know which country embassies now refuse to issue a letter with the new passport. IO will process without a letter in such a case.
  11. Kratom is a good pain killer. But it's a real opiate. It is addictive.
  12. I like viewpoints but I don't like skywalks. Note that skywalks sometimes ruin good views.
  13. Really? What do you understand that others don't? What % of THC does Mr Know-all propose to travel with while breaking no law? One topic I understand is that I wouldn't travel with joints through airports.
  14. Wife coming back from the dead.
  15. Try turning off the valve for the bum gun until you see no more water trickling, then replace with new. Some valves are frozen solid by scale though. I don't entirely agree with "not bothering the landlord". The landlord is supposed to rent out facilities that are in working order.
  16. I have used this expensive polyurethane condom for years now. About 3 years ago I got a batch of counterfeits from Amazon. Amazon offered to refund and withdrew the vendor. Up to now the ones I'd bought in Thailand had been ok. The fakes are cheap latex things that are very prone to break. I've had 3 breakages within one week. I'll switch to SKYN (blue packaging) for the time being, but I'm not sure where to buy them, tips are welcome.
  17. If only the lack of seasoning were a mere lack of salt.
  18. What is increasing for sure is the envy of older/unattractive women towards younger/attractive ones.
  19. Sexual abuse, the West's booming industry and number one cult. For journalists, lawyers, police, judges, politicians, health staff, wives ... If only the Ukrainians could shoot sexual abuse instead of 155 mm shells.
  20. It doesn't say whether the victim was wearing a life jacket. Some people overestimate themselves by "not needing" one.
  21. Don't take cannabis on flights. Too risky, and unnecessary as you will find what you need in Samui.
  22. Pseudoephedrine raises blood pressure quite a lot. Not something you want to take regularly. Plus, it makes you positive for meth from what I've read. NAR (non-allergic rhinitis) = perennial rhinitis = idiopathic rhinitis. Often combined with post-nasal drip. Bumrungrad hospital in Bangkok offer the Clarifix procedure. I may take the jump and have it but I'm still not convinced. Reddit reviews are not encouraging. P.S. I noticed steroid nasal sprays (fluticasone, mometasone) had some effect in my case. No immediate effect though, should be used for a few weeks.
  23. Non-allergic rhinitis. No cure (except Clarifix or Rhinaer?). Forget diet or snake oil vitamins. One thing that works as a nasal spray is Ipatropium Bromide. Alas not available in the EU anymore. Not available in Thailand (I asked around). Only available in an anti-asthma spray, combined with some other stuff you don't want to inhale if you don't have asthma. This is a pic of the nasal spray they recently withdrew from the market in the EU. I knew when I found it to work some three months ago, I thought "something that works, they're going to withdraw it". And so they did soon enough indeed! Government LOVE to make people's lives miserable. I hasten to do some pharmacy hopping in order to buy enough to last me half a year.
  24. "What, are you defending pidofiles!!!?", said they.
  25. She would if I had one. One more reason not to marry.
