  1. Not true that elderly people in France were euthanized against their will. Quite the opposite, successive French governments have torpedoed any reasonable euthanasia bills. Infamous retirement homes are a reality. But selfish old people who don't want to die are also a problem. Bring children into this world who never asked to be born, then expect the latter to sacrifice their lives caring for the old who live to be a hundred thanks to alzheimer's. There are 2 sides of the coin. Parents are entitled to have a life, but so are the children they selfishly catapulted into this world.
  2. Apparently. However, some EU countries still do not recommend it for the non-previously infected. Reason: the older vaccine only proved to be catastrophic for the non-previously infected 3 years after being launched. When was this new vaccine launched?
  3. What is funny and unexpected is that it seems the 80k USD requirement is indeed 80k before tax. I worked from the beginning on the assumption it had to be after tax. I didn't even ask myself or anyone the question. It looked obvious. 80k before tax (and before alimony etc.) seemed absurd as it could as much mean "poor pensioner" as "wealthy pensioner".
  4. Never mind, cannabis is a national catastrophe, not sugar.
  5. Ok, reading your title I thought for a moment it was about Soi 6 Pattaya.
  6. Never married and himself a prostitute's client. Calling the women he pays for sex "whores". Not very nice.
  7. Little of what he says is funny. I was never a big fan of Maher but I gave him credit for being funnier than this. I also don't find John Cleese very funny any more. Comedians are overrated. They'll die out with television.
  8. Coz "children can't consent etc. Children can't understand anything about sexuality. Their brains are not mature. Etc.
  9. Yes you have. You've already posted 2 more posts.
  10. I already hear the nearing thunder of male-lynching and soldier-bashing in the distance.
  11. Qdengua got okayed by the EU for people above 4 years of age. I'll get it. I'll say I am from Europe so never mind I am 65. The Thais love treating people differently on account of citizenship.
  12. One Dengue vaccine is only recommended for people who've had Dengue already, otherwise it does more harm than good.
  13. The emphasis her is on "cannabis". If working in a cabbage farm, no headline.
  14. I get myself in hot waters when I explain the way for countries to have expanding population is to tolerate intergenerational sex. I get call names for "defending pedofiles". What the hell are they talking about? I only found 2 meanings for pedofile: it's either a file for filing nails on you feet (toenails), or a file in which you keep data about feet (which foot has fungus, corns etc.).
  15. I'm relieved I don't need to renew my visa every year any more. It used to expire on May 2nd, which meant the renewal process was just in the middle of Songkran when everything was closed and/or dysfunctional. I think it's time for Thai calendars to invert their colour-coding to emphasize the few working days between holidays. It's interesting how the Thais always consider that if a 3-day event is good for the economy, extending it to 30-days will bring 10 times the money.
  16. You're right insofar as a control by police is concerned. It's you on the driving licence and you live in Thailand. I'd be more worried about an overzealous car rental employee though. I've rented over ten times with my Thai driving license in Brussels with no problem. Once though the rental employee said "Thailand?? don't you have another driving license?". The way he said it suggested a Thai driving license was not a valid one. I pointed out I lived in Thailand and the license was in English. The take-home point is that acceptance by the police is not equal acceptance by the rental agencies. That's why I have a good mind to go through the hassle of getting an international permit although legally I wouldn't need one. I assume that in order to get an international permit and have the passport number updated, you need a certificate of residence again (two of them?).
  17. It could only be an issue if you drive with your Thai driving license outside Thailand. In that case carrying your old (cancelled) passport or copies of it should put you on the right side of the law. I got my 5-year renewal in Thailand through a Pattaya agency. I pointed out the fact that the passport number on the new 5-year driving license would soon no longer match my passport as the latter would soon expire. The agency man shrugged his shoulders and said not to worry about that.
  18. Only in certain countries where they accept a driving license in English. Belgium is one such country. Other countries (France, Germany) require either the international driving license, or a certified translation in the national language. If you drive only in one of those EU countries, a translation maybe best because it remains valid as long as the driving license is valid. An international driving license has a very limited validity if I'm not mistaken (1 year?). It is sometimes difficult to find what particular countries accept or not. For example I googled for hours but could find nothing regarding Austria.
  19. This may be an issue of copyrights or industrial designs, but certainly not one of patents!
  20. I don't have any travel insurance. I live in TH and I have world-wide coverage (Cigna). Whenever I file a refund claim there a box to tick regarding whether the claim is because of an accident or not. Up to now I never had to tick the box. A friend said he had once a light motorbike accident but he lied about it. He reported instead having fallen somewhere. So if I rent a motorbike a good move is to see to it that it doesn't exceed 125cc?
  21. What's the deal with scooters/motorbikes accidents? I don't mean the semantics. I mean would insurances routinely reject claims if an accident is a motorbike accident? How can you be covered then?
  22. Maybe it was just much too strong.
  23. Maybe the OP has something to sell?
  24. I remember reading that if it's very superficial, like "right under the rib", it shouldn't be a heart issue. It could have to do with exercising/stretching. There's also a condition called "pericarditis", much less serious than heart disease but requiring treatment.
  25. Immigration offices know which country embassies now refuse to issue a letter with the new passport. IO will process without a letter in such a case.
