They've been going for it for at least 1.5 years or more. My neighbor told me yesterday that one of their children is starting school next week in a Russian School in Rawai. How does that happen?
If it's the one Im thinking of it's down by Rawai water park, there is a school there and a language school, children's play area and 2 swimming pools and a whole load of villas, It's like little Moscow,

I hope PEA follows through. These guys are a blight on Phuket. Although I have some very nice Russian neighbors with kids. Wondering how dad makes his money?
The Russians are going for it in Rawai recently,

Wow, lucky car owner.
Also payments on the Mazda, if he had a loan. I heard that the car dealers are practically giving away cars to move them. Someone is going to want their money.Red plate on it, maybe an hire car,

See the photo with the white Yaris parked on the left, he missed that, I should have added the driver just got out of his car without any visible damage

Thanks for the story. Much better coverage than the local paper.
Sounds like it, All the boss's from the PEA also joined in, they have requested his passport is held, around 100,000 per pole x8 plus all the machinery and equipment + labour, Don't forget all the internet cables,

Carnage at 3am on Sai Yuan Road,
First a Big Shout Out to the guys from PEA they did a brilliant job in this heat, The electric was out for 15 hours almost 6 pm before it came back on.
They brought guys in from all over the island so Im told from different areas with their equipment.
What happened you might ask, around 3 am some guy deicides to cause some chaos on Sai Yuan road not just takes one electric pole but 8 of them and then continues to smash into a parked car, I would say it's right off,
But he lives to tell the story and he was taken away by the police and the rest of us were left to suffer.
The road was completely closed off,
Im led to believe the driver on the rampage was Russian in a brand new Mazada,
That night of madness is going to cost a few quid,

This sounds like theft and he intended to keep the bike , rather than a joyride
Once you change the plates then it is theft,

Airbnb is nothing more than a property listing. if you want to make a booking you pay Airbnb and they pay the property owner less their fees. It is up to the owner to comply with all local laws and regulations.
I have used Airbnb for many years including places like China, Thailand & Vietnam, the latter being the only problem I have ever had.
I also use Booking.com and many of their listings are on a similar basis to Airbnb, I had one in Belfast, so don't understand what you mean by level playing field. I think Agoda are also dipping the toe in the same pond.
People should bear in mind that self contained acommodation and hotel rooms are hardly the same.
Agoda started before covid, also the likes of Trip.com are listing villas and condo's

What I meant is whether the license costs more for a 100 room hotel than it does for a 10 room hotel. For example, if you had a 50 room hotel and it costs 50,000 baht a year to keep it registered, that would be 1000 baht per room. Or is it a flat fee regardless of how big it is?
This is all I can find no more details
1. Hotel license type 1 10,000 baht each
2. Hotel license type 2 20,000 baht each
3. Hotel license type 3 30,000 baht each
4. Hotel license type 4 40,000 baht each
5. Hotel business operating fee: 40 baht per year per room-

To whom do you report it? Who enforces this illegality? Would he have to employ a solicitor?
It is possible most are not registered for the TM-30

Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi, president of the Thai Hotels Association, called on the government to legalise unregistered accommodation swiftly to ensure fair competition and sustainable standards.
Im led to believe it's nigh on impossible to obtain a license,

The short term rental market in Thailand is huge, It's not just Airbnb, you have Booking.com, Agoda, VRBO, Trip advisor and many more.
One big problem with the STR properties is the absentee landlords were many guest do self checkin there is no control over how many guest are checking in, one reason why they turn into parties and places get trashed things get stolen,
Some states in America require the host to be living within a certain distance from the property.
To ban airbnb altogether is not the answer you would have to ban the whole of the STR business.
Many people prefer to rent an airbnb over a hotel I think the figures and results tell you that, You cant beat renting a nice Pool villa with a full kitchen you can go and do all your own shopping for food and drink, Ha s been popular over the years with Russian families especially when they have a couple of kids,

Good for you and an amazing effort!
I didn't share the link, only a screenshot.
Of course there's nothing to stop you searching for the same DOPA link on their website and putting your own ฿2 in, but if you do - that would be more than the remaining apathetic 99.99% of the population would ever consider.
It's not on their web site it was sent out as an email which is applicable to members in Thailand, did it say at the bottom, to be filled out in Thai language. something like that

It's difficult to say, but the Myanmar army is going rounding people to join the army, between certain ages, I have a good Burmese friend but she's not here at the moment so I cant ask her, she's gone back home for a month she's beyond the age group I think sh'e about 40.
She told us last week how they are getting out of Myanmar they don't want to join the army.
