Read the full story before commenting.  The recording from Rawai Municipality’s CCTV shows that the couple was riding at a reasonable speed and was in the left lane when they were hit. The right lane was free of traffic.

It's a bit misleading that statement along that road is 2 lanes and a hard shoulder and many bikes do ride in the hard shoulder from the CCTV which is a couple of 100 meters away to me looks like the bike was way over to the left so making her have almost a clear road ahead of her 2 lanes, I live near by there I drove past there this morning, hope she did the right thing #Irina Pustovalova

If you like the open air experience, rent a jeep !

It's bad enough driving here in a car but motorcycle's forget it .

Most of the drivers here have no idea how to drive properly ! No lane control, no indication , No idea !

On top of that drinking , looking at there mobile phones ,  etc recipe for disaster!

Still pissed the following morning, it happened a couple of months ago near me, around 8 am, a truck drove into a bike killed both women and the truck driver was pissed, they were all Thai, what happened after that I dont know,

    Crazy Accident,

It was harder for her to hit them that not to hit them with the whole rest of the road being completely empty

Also very unlucky to die when being hit from behind.......and both dying. Normally wouldn't happen unless other cars on the road

I think she drove them into the electric post, the whole of the area down that main road had no electric for most of the day, from the original CCTV footage you can see sparks flying as it pulled all the cables down, the bike was left there most of the day you could not tell what make of bike it was, a crumpled mess,

It happened November 5th, no follow-up to where the Russian driver is now?  Were drug and alcohol tests administered on her?  Did she do a runner and is back in the Worker's Paradise?

Seems like reasonable questions for a reporter to seek answers to.

She was/is a real estate agent with a office in Rawai, the day after the accident somebody  blasted her FB page with the article, she cleared all that out and all of her own photo's, whether she is still operating I dont know, her office is down a soi so I would have to drive down there to see,

    From the attached article:

"Despite the arrival of Major General Saksira Phueakam, the national Tourist Police Commissioner, in Phuket the next day, no information regarding the accident has been released by the police or local authorities."

This seems very strange, plus there was CCTV footage, that has not been released? Normally isn't it published?

In the original article it did show the CCTV footage, just back from there is a set of traffic lights and the camera from the showed it all,

It used to be the case, most would drive over the border, others would fly to Had Yai but not many ventured much further North than Phuket or Surat Thani. The next tourist step further North is Hua Hin and then Bangkok which is a healthy 10/12 hour drive. Somebody recently posted the stats from land border crossing by Malaysians and they are substantial. The link below from the gov press office in 2022.

A news article in the Bangkok Post entitled, "The South Eyes More Malaysian Visitors", explains more.

According to booking.com here in Phuket, Russia tops the list,
