I think there was a horrifying accident in Rawai Phuket 2 night ago. Apparently Russian on a big bike drove into the back of 2 people ( 1 Thai one Swede ?) killed outright.  Phuket is becoming more and more dangerous.

It was true I live near to there, 3 killed and one badly injured

Good for you and an amazing effort!

I didn't share the link, only a screenshot.  :cheesy:

Of course there's nothing to stop you searching for the same DOPA link on their website and putting your own ฿2 in, but if you do - that would be more than the remaining apathetic 99.99% of the population would ever consider.

It's not on their web site it was sent out as an email which is applicable to members in Thailand, did it say at the bottom, to be filled out in Thai language. something like that

"an economy increasingly reliant on foreign tourism"

    No it is completely reliant.

I remember covid they basically sat around cracking nuts all day, eating rice handouts not knowing what to do with themselves.

What other industry does Phuket have? I certainly haven't seen anything other than domestic tourism.

Phuket was in a coma, I reminded some Thais of that the other week, ok we go back to covid when you had nothing, many had to go back to sticky rice land.

36 yo Russian on the R1 showing out to his 18 yo Thai cutie, plows into Swede and his Thai wife at top speed. That's the summary as I gather. Tragic and undoubtably avoidable. Stupidity, speed, poor lighting (which is everywhere in Thai at night), slick asphalt roads... a receipt for disaster. Not that it would have mattered much, but I assume not a hemet a worn by anyone.

That road is well lit, 4 lanes wide with a dual carriage way plus the hard shoulder, plenty of room for both of them,
