Well yes, on many subjects there's the law and there's local interpretation, but any diffrence in interpreation and/or process would be quite small. Ultimately re the subject at hand all of the items must be kept up to date and yes for some purposes you might be asked to show some or all of the books involved. In other words: - Ensure your PR book has room for more immigration departure and arrival stamps, and get it replaced at an Immigration office when it's full and ensure you have a single entry or double entry Exiti/Re-entry stamp as needed (in your PR book and in your passport). - Ensure you do the one year then 5 year RED Police Registration update. - Ensure you without delay remove yourself from your current Tabien Bann book and get your name entered into another Tabien Bann book when you change location. Overall these items are far from difficult and don't take long and are not subject to investigation etc.

This doesn't sound correct unless the process has recently changed a lot. When I got my PR approval letter: - When I got PR all very straight forward: get PR book at amphur office, then name recorded in Tabien Baan (can be any Tabien Baan, no need to be family, and name can be moved to another Tabien Baan, no issues whatever) at same amphur office. Then to local big police staion with above docs, within 20 minutes fingerprints taken and RED Police registration book issued. There was no interview, PR already approved, police not involved to approve anything, their job just prepare the RED police reg. book, add photo and fingerprints. All done.

I can only repeat what I've shared with you. Whether you buy or rent a condo etc. is your personal business. I got PR 27 years ago. From my experience, many comments made on this site, and a call I had with a Snr. immigration officer (speaks perfect English) when (during the Covid- 19) I couldn't get back to Thailand. In response to one of my quetions he firmly stated: Amphur offices nor the Thai police can cancel PR. PR is an immigratiion matter, no other agency/ministry can cancel your PR. However I have heard of PR holders being fined for late update of their RED Police Registration Book and taking too long to remove their name from a TB book / add their name to another TB book when they have changed their location.

"Could it be because I don’t own a condo but will be on my gf‘s house book?" I can't see this is any reason for any complication, it's just not relevant and the amphur folks (or anybody else) should NOT be 'studying' who the person who is the 'house master' is and should NOT be studying what, if any, the relationship is between you and the house master. If they do ak questons on this subject they are way out of line becaue it'e NOT relevant. I repeat: It's not the business of the amphur folks and they are way out of line if they are asking you or the TB House Master questions in this subject area. As said the amphur folks don't give APPROVAL re what TB book etc., your name can/can't be entered in. Their responsible if very simple they take the TB book, the house master indicates he/she will allow your name to be entered in that TB book (they DON"T have to give any reason / they don't have to make any comment at all) and the amphur folks immediately proceed to enter your name and your Thai ID number into the TB book. As said the amphur folks don't APPROVE this. It's quite simple, your name must be in a Tabien Baan (TB) book; can be: - The TB book for a property you own but that's not even compulsory because it can ANY TB book. If you're going to have your name in a TB book for your wife, gf, friend or whoever then that person must come with you and bring the TB book because they have to give a verbal permission for you to be entered in the TB book they're holding. Nothing more / nothing less. There is no interview / you don't have to pass an interview. When I got PR the dark blue PR book was issued (no interview because already approved to hold Thai PR by the Immigration Bureau) then the same amphur guy asked for my TB book so he could enter my name. I didn't have a TB book. Instantly my Thai friend who had been driving me around offered his TB book and said 'can he be entered in my TB book? The amphur guy took the TB pages, looked at the opening entry for about 1 second then proceeded to enter my name. No comments or questions, when completed he handed the TB pages back to my Thai friend. Neither the owner of the TB book or myself were inerviewed by anybody. PR is already approved. Perhaps also worth mentioning: 1. Applying for and approval of PR is an Imigration matter 2. TB pages/books are administered by local amphurs which comes under the Ministry of the Interior. 3. RED Police Registration Books are issued and updated by the Royal Thai Police. The 3 agencies above are different ministries who barely talk to each other. After PR is approved by the Immigration Bureau there is no further interview / there is no further approval. 2. and 3. above are mechanical administrative items which must be completed, they don't give APPROVALS for anything. They complete pure adminitrative tasks accordng to whatever is in front of them, nothing more, they have no work/task related reason whatever to be interested and they have no tasks whatever to be asking question on this let alone be conductig 'interviews' on these items. Back to "Could it be because I don’t own a condo but will be on my gf‘s house book?" This is not relevant and none of the various agencies have any legitimate reason to be interested. Bottom line, your name must be in a TB book, can be any TB book. The personal relationship (if any) between you and the person who is showing as the 'house master' in the front of the TB book is absolutely not relevant at all, and the amphur folks should not be asking any questions about his matter. And, sorry to be repetitive the amphur folks don't APPROVE where your name / what TB book is used to record your name. They carry out a simple administrative process. As I've mentioned above for the purpose of adding your name to a TB book there is no interview therefore the notion that you 'have to pass an interview' is not in the picture, not at all.

Surely there's 2 cohorts: a. The folks that no other restrictions on their time and can extend with no concerns. b. The folks who must return because of a work or family etc., commtment and they cannot extend. -
Sorry to have caused confusion. I was recalling a story which appeared on a Thai news site or web board or similar. A long time ago, I can't remember the name of the site.

Maybe depends on location. In Chiang Mai can easily get a member card, takes 1 minute, no questions etc. But from my observation 90% of customers have never bothered to get the member card. At cashier girl asks 'do you have member card?' 'NO', nothing further said she just gets on with scanning everything, all showing on the scren and a total to pay.

It wasn't me, it was reported on a news service.

Best I can recall was the taxi driver who could speak some English, half way swampy to the city said 'please show me the taxi card you received at the airport, see, it says 50Baht for airport taxi service, it's a printing error, it's actually 500Baht'.

Former national police chief Chakthip to face corruption charges

Years back a police colonel was at my condo door with his Thai wife. I opened he door they quickly came inside, with a teenage boy lackie who quickly closed the door. Never seen him before, he and his wife asked me to help him improve his English. Later discovered he and his wife approached me because I was the only farang she regularly saw at the local supermarket. In fact the policeman spoke excellent English. It soon became obvious that: - His wife wore the pants. - She came from a very wealthy family. She spoke English at Native speaker level. - She sought out and married the cop because there was a history of high ranking military and police in her family. - At her insistance the colonal cop had a personal uniformed chauffeur who was not a cop, and his car was the biggest/most expensive Benz*. An enterage followed in another smaller car with fresh Thai food and 2 teenage boys assigned to continuously keep the Benz clean and keep extra sets of shoes highly polished for the colonel cop. - The wife openly told me the reason for all of this - she was ready to pay the big money to buy hubbie his general rank, but wanted to be able to say he brought something valuable to the table - perfect English. - They were offering big money for English lessons (which I wouldn't attempt partly because I have no knowledge of how to structure any lessons at his current English level and because I'm not intersted in teaching English, I already had a very good position in a consulting firm.) Even in the first discussion in my condo the wife was already ordering me what to do. - I had to politely insist NO thanks, she was angry that her 'orders' were being challenged. She approached me again the next day and the following day. Her attitude was polite but insistant that she should have what she desired. * At that time Benz was the much preferred European luxury high quality car. -

Iregistered with OFX years back. They only wanted basic information. But I should mention the initial reason to register with OFX to transfer funds from Australia to Thailand. Maybe to other regions they ask for more personal details? I'm sayin that because I recently tried to transfer using the K Bank online(K Biz - 0nline internet banking) to transferfunds Thailand to Europe (Lithuania), K Bank instantly asked for full details of the benfifiary and then more details. I called the K Bank call center, the officer nstantly understod what I was talking about and shared: - All Thai banks are now required (by more serious Bank of Thailand regulaions) to look for 'flags' that transfers being set up to go to many countries (including many in Europe are not in some way connected to cryptocurrency. If the 'flag' is strong or if it identifes actual/real links to cryptocurreny then the bank must block the transfer / fail the transfer, and no further discussion available. -

Interesting points of course, however many high performance companies will say that the live interactions* / discussions* in the workplace within* and across teams* have great value, produce innovation and creativity and competitive advantage which brings higher revenues and if reduced costs can also be achieved this brings higher margins and is a winning formula. In my consulting work I had contact with employers who would agree to some 'work at home' but found it took too much time and resources*** to keep that work focused, to achieve productivity targets and achieve deadlines (and avoid delays regarding outputs being delivered late to another department*, even to customers. *** Which is a cost. In Singapore I'm aware of companies which manufacture and market their products; in times gone bye the Mfg. Dept, and the Mkt. Dept. operated quite separately, even ignored each other** but nowadays they sit in the same room and the staff from both departs deliberately sitting alongside each other (mixed together) and sharing valuable discussions and building of strategies, including a winner - continuously building competitive advantage. (And sharing resources, which if structured can also bring cost savings.) ** A hangover from centuries old military structures, where it was seen as productive to keep different army/military functions apart. Perhaps the worst example - 99% of the time the Air force operates totally alone with zero/close to zero contact with the army, then for a few minutes coordinates bombing or whatever with the army on the ground, then instantly the air force goes back to 'no contact' with other parts of the military, perhaps for years. -

I can't provide a complete answer. I can share that OFX has a one size fits all charge of AUD15- for international transfers. -

Used OFX many times / many years. Great service. Affiliated with Macquarie Bank in Austrlia, one of Australias most progressive banks. -
Why not: - Amnesty to register. - Hand in and watch made unusable for thos who want that. Decades back in Oz, authorities and the public quite surprises how many folks handed guns in to me rendered unusable: - Barrel bent. One end in a vice, steel rod put maybe 10 cm into the barrel and end of steel rod bashed. Barrel bent and very dangerous for the rifle / shotgun to be fired. - Firing / loading mechanism area bashed with sledge hammer or squeezed in a big vice with wedges to force total misalignment and crushing. I watched it happen when my grandather handed in a .22 rife and a shotgun.

Not always. There's plenty of unexpected times when you meet someone and a quick conversation prompts you to realize 'I should keep in touch with the guy/gal, something coming up soon they may have the equipment/contacts I need. So you both quickly politely exchange business cards. I can't see this scenario ever going away. Sharing of business cards in Asia, especially with Japanese business folks, is a solid ritual and not likely to go away in my lifetime.

My granddaughters high school has been doing a lot more work to give teens realistic practcal valuable information with good diagrams and with good focus on how/when pregnancy occurs. Talks for girls - F presenter), for boys - M presenter and mixed groups - M&F presenters. All mid/ late twenties, young doctors, med. students and snr. nurses. No eachers from the school. Granddaughter has menioned, less than 1 minute into the talk 'any questions', and presenter carefuly approaches a student and says 'I think you have a question, what's on your mind? etc., to get the students thinking and talking. In one mixed lesson mixed stduents M&F 2 presenters M&F showed rhe correct way to use a condon. Three lessons, same presenters talked about: -Costs/issues/problems of students having babies. -Boys must provide help, they are equally responsible to tke care of the baby etc. -Where to find help and advice. Talking to parents. -For both boys and girls 'How to say NO' -Human respect etc.
