  1. You're wrong, but of course you couldn't be wrong your such an expert.
  2. He's also just made statements about aspects of gaining Thai Permanent residency which are quite wrong. He's also just said 'A Certificate of Residency', is not 'Permanent Residence'.
  3. And the government of that day has since strongly realised robodebt was a very serious mistake and there's been mention it was even illegal. Further it happened under a 'gang' of very arrogant liberal leaders who have no concern about their actions, just go for the throat and screw and laugh at the populace. Seems to me that supports the notion no government in the future would go anywhere near any similar schemes for several reasons, some being: unethical, immoral, irresponsible, unacceptable to a mostly socialist society, illegal, completely ignoring the rights of the individual and ignoring that many live in a survival situation.
  4. Similar glass barriers/doors on many stations in Singapore. Installed decades ago.
  5. That's true of course, he does deserve strong praise for his foundation has given hundreds of young people a new and successful life and happiness. But there's more to the picture, he's had plenty of moments where he's been rude to other folks on camera. The incident when he got terse about the pens at a signing weren't necessary and he should know better. The ultimate point; I've asked many brits about Camila, seems she's not liked / she's severely not liked by many folks, simple suburban folks, educated, & high profile folks and hasn't been / probably will never be forgiven for her past behaviors).
  6. '...Thai society is developing ...' Sure but I suggest it's developing at a different rate in different locations. . - Many Thai folks in BKK are nowadays more 'international'. - Many Thai folks in the remote / not so totally remote 'upcountry' areas still live in ancient times, with ancient behaviors and their knowledge of the bigger world is close to zero. Even to the point of on a couple of extreme occasions: - But don't go too far away from home - you might fall off the end of the world. - One family member who is adamant that the country just above thailand is Germany. He's also adamant that German people only eat Thai food, several meals every day. Thai folks living in Germany don't have to obey the laws of Germany.
  7. My Thai son straddles all of these 'points'. He won't aske questions in BIg C/Homepro about washing machines, TV's etc because that would be admitting he doesn't have knowledge of these items - sever loss of face. But with a group of foreigners he behaves like a farang (he speaks excellent English). Or put this another way; he can be 100% Thai or be 100% farang, as needed.
  8. Yes, or in different words, totally (and deliberately) not transparent.
  9. A western acquaitance / buddy had been buying 1 or 3 outstanding steaks from Oz every time he went to his local Central food hall, all quite expensive. He had saved up about 20 steaks in his chest freezer then suddenly had a severe stroke and died. He left a detailed will but the stock of steaks not mentioned. Several of his western buddies tried to kamoy 1 or 2 or 3 steaksbut the deceaseds' Thai son caught them and locked the door to the room where the chest feezer was. Eventually the son found an opportunity to make a simple announcement, several farng present: "I also like very good steak and my dad knew how to buy excellent steaks. It's now all mine and I will cook the steaks one by one as dad taught me for myself and my wife, no further discussion on this."
  10. So is the 'chunk of cash': - A deposit and there's a receipt with the name of the person paying and mentioning 'deposit for xxxx xxxx xx'. - Are they say 'for the showroom' because there's some language difficulty? And is there a receipt as just above? - Did the buyer sit down with the sales rep or whoever snr. person appropriate at that dealership and write doen the full price then deduct the amount of the 'chunk of money or the deposit then on the next line write the balance to be paid on delivery? And ask 2 people from the dealership to sign their names. And the buyer keep the original? My Thai son eventually did the above when he bought a car from a very high profile dealership/brand in Chiang Mai. Son and wife visited and asked to speak to a sales person which produced several people who all gave different stories about: - Specs of the car - Price, including some discount and no discount. - Free extras, ........ Son asked one loud overpowering salesgirl to write the above on a document. She refused saying that was illegal and she was insulted to be asked to do that. At same visit a new salesman came into the discussion and seemed to be the 'chief' salesperson and gave clear answers but on being pushed by the overpowering salesgirl refused to write anything down. A few days son and his wife had time to go back. Snr. salesman not there 'sorry he can't come today birthday party last night'. Son and wife went to another showroom (same brand), no confusion whatever, all clear, only one salesperson in heir discussions and all written down. They asked for a deposit of 5,000Baht, cashier came and showed son and his wife the full written details and showed a dummy receipt for the deposit and gave them a copy. A few days later they agreed to buy the car from this showroom. The cashier appeared again quickly and politely asked - How do you want to pay the deposit and final payment. We can accept: cash, bank transfer, bank cheque, bank app or if you prefer we can discuss further.
  11. 'Patters' where's that?
  12. However note the PR holders cannot get an exit/re-entry stamp at an airport. Has to be done at an Immigration office, normal office hours.
  13. Bottom line: Many many Thai women and girls have one or several tattoos. In many cases the same as Thai men the tattoos are respecting various religious / cultural beliefs. I recall one of my male bachelor degree students showed everybody the very large tattoos on his back and legs which has been done a week earlier. He shared that his whole family had experienced a number ofproblems, and their favorite monk had decreed that all the adults and late teenagers (M and F) in the family should get the same set of tattoos and the monk gve them drawings for the tattoos. The tattoos were applied by a male monk to the male members of the family, all within the same day and by a female tattoo artist under the close supervision of the favorite monk, to the female family members of the family, all within the same day as the males were inked. My student shared that within a few hours of the activity for all members to get these same tattoos the family was convinced their problems and bad luck had finished. I heard a couple of months later that 2 other students (1M and 1F) had asked for the location of the favorite monk and ultimately all their adult and late family members (M and F) had been inked, same images are the first family, all in the same day.
  14. Example: On a full evening Singapore Airlines flight Melbourne to Singapore, Economy class. Two aussies in seat in front, one pressed the call button, hostess came quickly. The Aussie button pusher didn't say hello, acknowledge the girsl greeing, just said 2 G&Ts now. Hostie responds politely, ' gentlmen we're startin the pre dinner drinks service in about 15 minutes then we'll get to you quickly'. Ausssie's response 'I mean now, and we want second G&Ts 20 minuts later and meals served 20 minutes after that'. Hostie responded 'sorry gentlemen we are not ofering that type of service in Economy class. I'll be back in about 15 minutes with the first round of pre dinner drinks' and she walked away. Aussie press the call button like crazy, within a minute the male purser arrived and said 'My staff have explained that we don't offer the type of service you are demaning and there is no further discussion'. Purser walked away followd by loud abuse, inclusing sexual inuendo aimed at the quite beautiful hostie. There first G&Ts were served by th purser, no 2nd drinks meal served by the purser, and the 2 Aussie boys tried to complain about everyting on their meal trays using quite ful langauge. Purser came back and took both trays away. On arrival in Singapore the Sinagpore police boarded and quickly came with the purser and took the 2 Aussie boys off he aircarft. As they were moving away from their seats the purser said 'you are both banned from flying Singapore airlines or a stopover in Changi Airport for 5 years.
  15. I live in LOS, the only item I don't get is the Energy Allowance which is around 12 to 14 dollars per fortnight. (Double that amount of course for folks on the 4 weekly payment transferred abroad system.) I do receive the full pension supplement.
  16. Approx 1,700-Baht every 4 weeks.
  17. I suggest many are bothered by: - The now very long-term 'more of the same'. - Yes lots of trains but in many other critical areas very little to zero development. - No attention to corruption. massive interference is eams etc. - An incompetent corrupt police force who continue as is, still recruit members the same old ways, with massive games being played to pass entrance tests. And even bigger and bigger numberes of corrupt cops being caught, but nothing happens., nothing improves.
  18. So perhaps melania should be investigated for the mesages on the back of her dresses/coats?
  19. Want to teach rich hi-so kids. I'm aware of a very expensive international primary / high school Thai owned, very small classes, extremely expensive. Teachers come an go quickly becaue of he attitdes and behavors, refusal to sit down, refusal to stop talking, refusal to participate. Come very late, extremelu rude/insulting to the teachers and to the Thai admin. staff. And parents no hesitation to walk into the classroom and make demands... Perhaps some teachrs like this scenario.folks l
  20. Do you consider donald trumnp to be a real person? I don't.
  21. Just for clarity... you quote many prices in Australia. Are these prices totally outside of OZ Medicare coverage, i.e. totally private doctor and path., scans etc costs?
  22. "...how terrible the optics are of such lavish celebrations..." Seems to me that the enormous multi layered/multi faceted/massive numbers of soldiers & queens guards/transport & vehicles etc., seen on TV for the QEII funeral possibly shocked many brits when they did just simple calculations of the enormous cost, most of it borne by the UK taxpayers. And have now seen a sometimes gruff & impolite Charles. Now keen to see the costs massively down graded for the coronation.
