  1. Many low / zero alcohol beers now available in Australia. Some same price as regular beer, some cheaper. Several times in OZ I bought a six pack of Coopers; low alcohol / zero alchol (seems to be marketed using both descriptions, about AUD$11.xx- (about 300Baht for 6 pack. Very drinkable. On the supermarket shelves along with Coke, Pepsi etc, rather than in the alcohol section.
  2. Personal choice.
  3. Sure, and why were the pumps ineffective. Further, how come it's taken week to respond to the claims that there weren't enough life jackets on board? Is he perhaps saying that enough life jackets had been issued to the veseel but not saying anything about where they located / meaning no substantive clear statement whether they were in a nearby storeroom or actually on the vessel?
  4. Reminds me of a speech by Emelda Marcos who was trying hard to gain votes/support for a nasty convicted criminal and the opposition were trying hard to make him look unelectable. Her response was "Yes, but look how handsome he is, just exactly what this district needs, so important". Bottom line, the others on th TV show agreed with her.
  5. Is you mean value is lost in the process of transfer from Australia, that's true, but it's very minimal. The gov't uses official processes to transfer the funds OZ to the designated bank in Thailand, very very small fees involved. Mine gets transferred to K Bank, K Bank takes about 160Baht each transfer. As said it's very minimal.
  6. This re-training as a war dog sounds like a fatal calamity waiting to happen.
  7. And did you see the short video last week of him rushing to hug and hold hands with the Burmese crimes against humanity mititary/country leader. Made me vomit.
  8. I also like gin, alcohol free gin - best idea since sliced bread. But is the alcohol free fattening (real gin is quite fattening). Some years back I rented my house on Jomtien beach to an epat couple from the Map Ta phut Rayong oil refineries district. Husband from UK, a specialised refining engineer and his scottish wife. Husband was an aldoholic, only drank Guiness. Wife was an even more severe alcoholic, she drank 2 full size bottles of gin, neat, unchilled, no ice every day. Various issues and problems, she physiclly and emotionally abused her maid and her driver for no valid reason, husband thought it was all a big laugh. Company sent them back to UK six months into his contract. Big drop in gin sales in Pattaya.
  9. So what, still entitled to an opinion, especially when it affects own family. She and thksin resident in Dubai. Reported a while back her son in scholl in the UK. WHere's her husband?
  10. Friend, allies, co-conspirators, co-beneficiaries of major rice scams with one of their 'friends' still serving major time in jail (from memory about 12 years to go).
  11. I've discovered that BBL can do an international trnsfer to Poland if I have the IBAN full code which i have. Can be to a personal name and can be to a company/business name. Must be done on the BBL app*. Cannot be done from the normal BBl Internet banking screen* (so they say). (*BBL call center told me that within a short time everything must be done from the app and notebook/PC based transctions will cease to exist/be available. This doesn't surprise me, right now most banks are: buying / running /supporting / maintainning several major software programs to support all these processes/options. Seems logical a bank would want to reduce this to one program.) For banks there's also also a 'register the recipient of the funds abroad in advance' item, but: - For a once only transfer this is NOT needed. - For regular (e.g. monthly/quarterly etc.) transfers the recipient name must be registered in advance. A nuisance because it's a long form with very little real info re the recipient of the purpose of the funds, form must be taken personally to a BBL branch, they send it to BBL head office, about 3 days later sender must return to the branch to see if approved. If approved you get a 4 digit pin number to use for this transfer.
  12. But you are not an expert on these subjects, far from it, so you shouldn't be so fast to give your opinions (often sound more like statements rather than opinions). Further you seem hell bent on making people feel vulnerable. Not nice and not needed. In any case right now this is a very open subject and anything could happen. Any changes will need to go through various announcements before an election and then ultimately the full legislative process. Sure some politicians will vote the party line, others won't and that will include polies who will baulk at any changes in laws/regulations which negatively affect pensioners. (30% tax, really.)
  13. Thanks for all the comments, I'm learning all the time. I'll call DEEMONEY tomorow morning. Friend also suggested I talk to BKK Bank which I just did, sounds good also: - If customer has BBL internet banking, open that site then click on install app. - From the app can easily complete an international transfer. - No restrictions on Poland. - No need to have any supporting documents (invoices etc). - Do need to have the SWIFT or IBAN code for the bank in Poland. - Can do interntional transfer from BBL to a personal name or to a company name.
  14. You're way too personal and not your business to be asking folks here to explain themselves / explain details.
  15. A small point, my Thai granddaughter is 17 just finishing high school here in CM. She and many HS students (her school and many other schools) have become quite focused on the whole political situation top to bottom (by top I mean the absolute top). A western friend in Pitsana look (Thai grandson just started uni there same stuff. My Thai son) listens to his granddaughter and tries to calm her down (there's no yelling etc.), he doesn't want to forbid the discussion and he tells her regularly 'many countries have problems, try to be balanced, yes change is needed but not with violence', and more. In the last 3 or 4 months she's announced she will join protests here in CM and in Bkk. So far that hasn't happpened but...
  16. Need to send funds to Poland for education support of Thai nephew we are sponsoring for his enginering degree in Warsaw. In the past we sent the funds direct to the student at a local bank in Warsaw using the SWIFT code process from 2 local Thai banks and he quickly e.mailed a photo of the receipts after paying the bills. Now suddenly Thai banks won't transfer funds to Poland and/or want more documents that we or nephew can ever provide. Many times I've read good reports on this board about WISE for international funds transfers. I always blindly though it was all Brits receiving pensions, and sending money back home for family support/pay bills etc. Can a few members please share their experiences, if any, in using WISE to send funds from Thailand to the EU, specifically to Poland. - Any complications because the receiving location is Poland? - Did you have to submit copies of purchase invoices / bills or whatever? - Fast? - Can you transfer the supporting funds direct from Thai bank (local internet banking) to WISE to support the transaction? - Do you need to use SWIFT or IBAN codes? - Can you send the funds to a personal name and also to a company name in the receiving country? - Any other comments, positive or negative you think would be useful. Thanks, much appreciated.
  17. Could be true, they will make sure they block any new party. And regardless of whether the block is moral or otherwise and regardless of what the public thinks. Stand by for more protests which I suspect will step by step grow bigger.
  18. Corrupt and unethical too.
  19. Yes miracles do happen, and things do change. Nov 2019 to Jan 2022.
  20. I tried electric years ago but found it gave me skin rashes, flaking skin and and skin roughness. Wet shave with throw away 3 blade shavers; so easy, quick, light weight., portable, very easy to replace and effective. Some folks like expensive shaving creams, for me just a little shampoo to remove the dirt and grime. Second application of a little shampoo and 5 minutes later all done. And doesn't add to tour electric bill.
  21. And as usual you will invent a negative to stir people up.
  22. All agreed. Seems to me there's less than a 1 in a million chance a labour or a liberal government will make cuts to the OAP and similar allowances and same chance they will ever impose any new taxes of Pensions except perhaps changed to limits on income / assets etc., (right now of course pension payments are exempt from taxation).
  23. That's my experienc. In the time I was back in OZ I called 132 300 many times to ensure I had the right understanding on many points. Always answered very promptly. My longest wait time perhaps 15 seconds (just guessing). Seems that many posters have a very negative view re Centrelink and I understand in the past there were issues. But my experience from the first visit to a C.link suburban office to creat a CRN (Centrelink Reference Number) and to complete proof of identity were fast and pleasant and the staff always polite and helpful. The pleasant lady asked me 'is the big file (that I had put on the desk) your OAP application and the Assets and Income statement?' I said 'yes'. She resonded politely: - Do you know that OAP applications are not processed in suburban offices, they all go direct to Canberra for computerised processing. - She continued; you can send your completed OAP application by mail to Canberra or if you wish I can scan it direct into the Centrelink central OAP application file right here / right now. - She also confirmed that nowadays OAP applications are 99% processed by the C'link Canberra computers. - She then asked 'would you like me to have a quick look at your completed application'. I said 'yes please'. - She checked every question carefully one by one, then said, 'It's complete and I can't see any items which could cause any confuion or delay, it just needs your signature and if you wish I can put it in the multi function scanning machine (near her desk) and send it to Canberra right now'. Two minutes later all done and she copied a receipt from the scanner and stapled it to the first page. Seventeen (yes 17) days later I got a polite phone call from Canberra to tell me 'your OAP is all approved'. The young man asked me to get a paper and pencil and he carefully gave me the main details step by step, then said 'you will get a letter by speial delivery sometime tomorrow to explain all these details and the back payment and first payment will be deposited in your XXX bank account by closing time tomorrow. The letter arrived the next morning and the funds were deposited mid afternnon that day. (I kept my OZ internet banking open and monitored it every few minutes). I well realize some members will claim ""BULLXXXX, IT TAKES 3 TO 5 MONTHS ETC., ETC., GET APPROVED"". My eperience was as I described above. And I never experienced 90 minute telephone wait times, perhaps this experience goes back to decades ago?
