  1. Thanks again for the update, much appreciated. I can't find anywhere (within the documents the traveler must upload) any mention of: - Airline name - Flight number - Flight departure/arrival time. This leads me to think that an 'approval' is good for a number of days. (could be wrong of course, especially since the traveler must provide proof of their hotel booking which does show specific dates.) Further info/clarity on this aspect will be appreciated by all, I'm sure. Thanks again.
  2. I don't have the knowledge to discuss the type of test but this service has been operating for about 14 months and seems to be accepted. In fact to be very sure about no bumps at check-in on the day of travel I asked Singapore Airlines Sydney office if they accepted the report issued by this lab (as part of the check-in process) and they replied yes. I'm not sure if I can post the name of the lab but let's try: Histopath (well established company/lab service, well accredited, many branches across Sydney for many pathology needs). Further, Singapore Airlines now requires a negative report no more than 48 hrs old if the flight is transiting through Changi Airport. I had intended to be at Sydney Airport on my departure day at 6:00 am (time the one hr. report lab opens) and take the test. but my departure time is 9:05 am, so the overall timing is quite tight. I was becoming more concerned about the timing tightness so more recently I found another well established and well accredited lab service (no branch at the airport but many full branches across Sydney), they have a four hour reporting service* so I now plan to use this service, getting the swab taken at their walk-in lab (not at airport) just under the 48 hrs factor. (* I checked the booking document I'm holding for the 4 hr reporting service, it says 'COVID- 19 Real Time RT-PCR test - Nasal Swab (NCP)'. Perhaps this is the test you are referring to.) I'll get the report (backed by an international accreditation) by e.mail four hrs. after the swab is taken and this keeps me within the Singapore Airlines max. time of 48 hrs.
  3. I'm not sure what your question is. From my understanding the Australian item I attached is for online use. I didn't mention that when the QR code is scanned at check-in or by passport officers at arrival point the personal photo of the passport holder also comes up on screen for the officer to compare to the actual arriving person at the passport desk and instant facial recognition scanning of the arrival person is compared to the passport records photo to check there's a match/no match. It also mentioned that a coming soon further development will include a facility whereby the holder can call up their vaccination record then click for their passport photo, to show at a restaurant etc., where vaccination/identity is being checked. If the person has no passport? I don't know the answer.
  4. Being released Wednesday 20 October in Australia: Airlines and other authorized agencies can scan the QR code and get full details of the personal: vaccination records and passport number, name as shown in passport records, date of birth, gender.
  5. Regarding test at departing airport, there's a professional walk-in accredited lab set up on the departures level inside Sydney airport, 5 minutes or less walk to the departure rows. Cannot book test, just walk-in. Opens at 6:00 am, swab taken within 5 minutes, report guaranteed within 60 minutes. Passenger can select to receive the report by SMS/e.mail/phone/printed hard copy at the lab. Lab also negotiating to send report direct to the departure airline if passenger requests. Cost AUD$100- can be paid by credit/debit/cash.
  6. You seem to be pretty familiar with the Thailand pass, good news! On the schematic that's appeared several times I can't see where the applicant submits flight details (arrival date/time/airline/flight no.). Does this perhaps mean that the 'Thailand pass' is good for a period of time, perhaps 30, 60 days? Would you please share your thoughts on this. on the other hand of course maybe it's still too early for all the details/answers.
  7. Further regarding the Covid 19 Health insurance, mentioned on the Thailand Pass' schematic. My situation is: Re Covid 19 health Insurance. I already took a policy which has the coverage needed for the previous COE. - Loss of life by Covid 19 equivalent to US$100,000-. - Medical expenses (inpatient and outpatient) from Covid 19 equivalent to US$100,000-. Because I have PR I must have the above but coverage just for a couple of months (not for the whole time in Thailand). Premium was 2,880Baht. This policy is available for folks up to 99 years old. The policy came by e.mail with 3 documents: 1. Typical policy full of insurance jargon 2. Easy to read summary with all the details the embassy wanted to see for COE, and several signatures. 3. Receipt for payment. I'm assuming (hoping / keeping my fingers crossed this policy will also suffice for the Thailand Pass. Any comments as to my small paragraph immediately, and: "- Loss of life by Covid 19 equivalent to US$100,000-. - Medical expenses (inpatient and outpatient) from Covid 19 equivalent to US$100,000-. above welcome." Comments welcome/appreciated.
  8. What's your understanding on whether the 'Thailand pass' will state a flight number/date? From what I can see so far there's no requirement for the traveler to submit this detail. Does it mean the traveler will receive a 'permission to enter Thailand pass' but date flexible, but probably of course with an end date (maybe 30 days, 60 days after the pass is issued)?
  9. Thanks Joe, agree this is what seems to be the situation. Just hoping that if there's early reporting of the (neg) report then folks can immediately move on. In fact it seems the aim is 1 test on arrival and no further tests (unless there's a + result to the 'arrival' test'. Therefore holding tourists/arrivals overnight would be seen by many as way too strong, unnecessary, very police state/inappropriate. Back to a situation where a traveler arrives at say breakfast time and swab done by say 8 - 9 am and neg. report received say mid afternoon or even mid evening the same day then tourists/travelers will be protesting loudly in regard to: - Having to go to a hotel and unnecessarily pay for 1 night at that hotel. (And the taxi costs of getting to the hotel). - Having to unnecessarily delay the next step in their domestic travel to reach their holiday destination. Not exactly a good way to achieve happy travelers who want to return for more holidays.
  10. Well said. I agree, in retrospect I've achieved more than I expected when I was a young adult. Not because of good planning but things happened along the way. The real centre/focus of my life came when I bumped into a great lady and I started a wonderful relationship and had a son (my only child). My partner (Thai lady, Dr. of medicine) has passed on, son married with 3 kids, they are all so loving and caring every day. My son is my best friend in life, and very attentive to his wife and kids. Bottom line, I worry a bit that the uncontrollable aspects of life will go in a direction which gives them good opportunities and their life together as a family and for each one of them remains strong with much happiness.
  11. Good question, I'm waiting for same info. Also brings up the question whether foreigners travelling from abroad to their permanent home in Thailand can do whatever test on arrival and then very quickly continue their travel to their home and do 24 hrs isolation at home?
  12. Re Covid 19 health Insurance. 13. Good question. I'm in the same situation but my guess is test and 1 night in Bkk, then to CNX, & hopefully no further tests or monitoring etc.
  14. On the Thailand Pass process schematic that's appeared on several sites, the first item on the left side says: - Passport -Vaccination Certificate - Covid 19 Health Insurance - Hotel booking
  15. So we land at Swampy, they get taken in a mob to a PCR test location. How many Baht for the PCR test? Further, studying the Thailand Pass, I can't see where the traveler inserts their flight date and time? Did anybody spot it? Or is it open as long as you arrive with an approved Thailand Pass (but with no flight details)?
  16. Agree, from now to 1 Nov hopefully all the details needed by travelers and with full clarity and early enough so that travelers needing to travel further for their planned holiday (e.g. flight to Chiang Mai) can get on with their bookings.
  17. And does the 1 night hotel have to be on an approved list? Or any hotel?
  18. True of course but hopefully there will soon be more details from the Thai gov't to give travelers more details: e.g. - Will travelers know in advance the location of the swab hub they will be taken to? - Who selects the 1 night hotel? (Connects to the point above.) - What happens if test result comes early? Can traveler immediately check-out and commence next in their travel to their actual holiday location. - Without answers to the above (timing details) many travelers can't book their next flight (if they are travelling as quickly as possibly to another location in Thailand for their holiday. And not sure what arrival date to give to the hotel/resort whatever for their holiday. But still 2 weeks to 1 Nov so hopefully a lot more details in that 2 weeks.
  19. Thanks for your informative and valuable post, much appreciated. No doubt many members are 'watching this space' right now. My main interest has been whether Australia would be on 'the list'. Initially a total number of 10 was mooted. Then a first list of 5 announced but the additional 5 not mentioned. Then a total number of 27, then 39 but no full lists. Now your post mentions a total of 12 with Australia at 11th spot (but whether the position on the list is meaningful I don't know). But of course there's 2 more weeks to 1 November, so plenty of time for the 'the list' change and for other factors to change. We wait and see. Again thanks for sharing.
  20. Does anybody have a very clear copy of the whole Thailand Pass process schematic? Can you please share. Thanks.
  21. I had an incident of trying to use my Thai issued UOB credit card at a duty free shop at KLIA. As soon the card started processing, the process stopped and with perhaps 10 seconds I got a live call from UOB in Bkk. Polite young man from UOB Bkk explained that KLIA is a severe hot spot for CC fraud/theft of data etc., and the shop I was in was is top of the negative list. He finished by saying, sorry but we will not process any transactions based at KLIA. I was very glad to get his call and glad that they refused to process the transaction.
