Australian Aged Pension

Who are you referring to? Me? -
And don't try to understand this, it's very Thai.

Thanks for your post, I like the content you have shared, in fact 'sharing' is the key word my parents used to explain it to me when i was a kid. I used the same key word in my efforts to make my Thai son (now in his early 40's) more aware of the subject (which he has strongly embraced, but his siblings and more especially his Thai wife's siblings are not on board.

Disgusting cigarette smell from ur neighbour
scorecard replied to villageidiotY2K's topic in General Topics
I hate cigarette smoke / smell. I don't say a lot but I couldn't maintain a close relationship with a person who has cigarette smell on their body, clothes or hair. But I wouldn't expect that person to change their habits. -

No. The DVA permanent disability compensation payment (which has several levels) is administered totally by the DVA. Other 'agencies' are not involved in any way. The various DVA levels never mention any other items, payments, benefits from other agencies. In the 14+ years Centrelink / Service Australia / OAP benefits/payments has never been used in the DVA text words. (Note: The DVA permanent disability payment was called the DVA Disability Pension, but about three years ago the DVA changed the name to the DVA permanent disability compensation payment . Regardless of the name always administered totally by the DVA. Centrelink / Services Australia never involved in any way in my experience. I've never had any communications or discussions re this item with Centrelink / Services Australia.) -

Receiving, transferred to K Bank : As per the website I receive the rates after September 2024 six monthly cost of living adjustments: - Fortnightly OAP rate AUD1.047.10 - Fortnightly Supplement rate AUD 83.20 TOTAL AUD1,130.30 Transferred 4 weekly, so AUD1,130.30 X2 = AUD2,260.60. No changes after every six monthly cost of living adjustment. I returned to Oz, did the 2 years then returned to LOS. -
Does any CM member know of the doctor provides consultation with children? I have a Thai granddaughter 10 years old who has severe itchy skin on several areas of her body and legs. I'm assuming that Dr. VACHIRAPORN Sujaritwanichpong' study / experience would cover severe itchiness, hopefully with children. Please advise me if this a wrong assumption. My Thai son and his Thai wife have taken their daughter to several hospitals and clinics CM and Bkk and tried numerous soaps, creams, tablets, liquid medicines but to no avail. Any information you can share much appreciated.

Quote: I lose both when I am outside Australia for more than six weeks. I know I lose both, because I have checked the fortnightly payments when in Australia and Thailand. Clearly the way folks who 1). Move out of Oz on the Portability 'system' re handled re allowances is different compared to 2). Folks who remain permanently resident in Oz but take holidays abroad then return home to Oz. Re situation1). It's been confirmed many times (me and others) there is no loss of the OAP supplement (ever) when living abroad but other allowance: energy, rent assistance and more do cease. Re situation 2). Living permanently in Oz / some holidays abroad / return home to Oz. Seems that there is a reduction in the OAP supplement when the pensioner has been out OZ for 6 weeks. But restored on returning to Oz (And CLink know because they have a live 24/7 link to immigration passport departures and arrivals records.) -

Member 380 Posted 34 minutes ago On 12/7/2024 at 7:52 PM, scorecard said: The pension supplement of AUD83.20 continues forever if you move abroad. I rang Centrelink International today who advised me that "continues forever" is incorrect as will cease for all OAP after 6 weeks outside Oz. He scoffed at the notion and cautioned me re scammers, trolls, etc. OK, well here is my understanding: I returned to Oz after decades of absence, did the 2 years 're-establish a home', gained the full OAP portability, moved abroad, been paid the full OAP and the full supplement for many years. Never been queried. Earlier when I asked the CLink officer to explain 'portability / OAP supplement etc., she said clearly it continues forever unless you break the law or die. This was after some discussion n the 2 years / gaining portability etc. It seems that other who achieved continued payment abroad but did not go the 2 years route are managed under a different policy. No further comment. -

Anyone know if Makro, Lotus, Big C accept contactless?
scorecard replied to scubascuba3's topic in General Topics
I use my K Plus app at Makro. Just scan the QR code and all done. I did ask the Makro cashier 'Do you only accept K Plus? She responded 'No, any bank app which uses a QR code'. Whether that includes foreign bank apps I don't know. -
And don't trust any 'advice' given by the amphur staff, they are not lawyers and not experts on these matters, but they will tell you they are. One example is getting a will for your Thai your wife. The amphur staff will tell you they know how to do this. But they don't. Example: My Thai nephew decided he wanted to make a will (because my Thai son had just made his will, but Thai son did it with a Thai lawyer we have used before, but not free, 3,000Baht). Nephew was told 'Amphur staff will do it free. So Nephew went to amphur office with his new wife. Nephew had found a template online and I alerted him to the appropriate clauses in the Thai Commercial Code. Nephew had completed the will template. Amphur lady said 'but you have to leave 100,000Baht to your wife's mother'. Nephew was not convinced and contacted his old high school buddy who is now a lawyer. Lawyer said he was not convinced and went with my nephew and wife to the amphur office. Amphur lady insisted have to leave 100,000Baht to your wife's mother'. Lawyer asked the Amphur lady: - Are you a qualified lawyer? - Answer NO. - Have you had specific training about writing wills? - NO. - Please show me a Thai Gov't book / instruction / policy / document which states 'have to leave 100,000Baht to your wife's mother'. She couldn't. Supervisor now in the discussion says 'but she's just trying to help'. Lawyer calls another lawyer who confirms there is no such law. Amphur lady now says 'but I think It's a good idea'. Nephew scoops up all the documents and go the his lawyer buddy's office. Lawyer writes the will for free. Lawyer reports the matter to a government department who issue a letter to nephew saying there is no law / policy etc., saying have to leave 100,000Baht to your wife's mother'. A few weeks later they go back to the Amphur office for a completely different matter. Lady who had claimed she knew the law but didn't not to be seen. Amphur boss comes to the counter and says 'don't come here and make trouble, you made my staff member very upset'. But she does help with the new matter at hand.

The above is cut from this main document: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/how-we-can-help-with-international-services?context=22471 You mentioned "...I may contact Centrelink in respect to a few of my OAP mates living in LOS ." This is clearly not my business but I wonder if Centrelink officers would be allowed to discuss details regarding other members. Surely that would be a breach of privacy. Your business entirely however I wonder if you might give the guys in Thailand the toll free number as above and suggest they call: Thailand 001 800 611 4136 Calls to this number go direct to the CLink International office in Hobart. They don't bite. As with all gov't agencies nowadays all calls are recorded so it pays to be careful what you reveal. -
