Bloody do-gooders like the OHCHR and Amnesty International need to keep their noses out of internal Thai issues!
General Happiness only has the best interest of the Thai people at heart ;-)

Wow. What yellow planet are you on? You and your co-inhabitants must be smoking some powerful mushrooms.... alt=blink.png>

Well you can always go and live in Dubai happyland compond where they have installed and practice free speech and equal justice for all, a perfect democracy which is praised worldwide as a perfect democracy in action, total honesty, no nepotism, no cronyism, absolutely no interference by politicians, free and fair elections with integrity and morality the keynote, candidates must announce and talk / debate in depth the benefits of their policies which are totally focused on all citizens improving their quality of life through their own activity, no corruption allowed / corruption punished quickly and severely, and total open book transparency is the order of the day.

Soviet/Nazi style abuse of procedure to harass and bully whilst cloaked in legality. A disgrace. It happens all over the world an is used by police and bureaucrats alike. A new low for this regime but there will be more abuses of a wider range of people. Every day she is looking more and more heroic and dignified. It is no wonder that the people's admiration of her is genuine and not enforced by dictate and law. This is how SLORC used to bully and browbeat Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma. But even they did not resort to the sexual slander and sexist abuse used by the yellow shirts to attack the then Prime Minister of Thailand.

BS - It is offensive to the majority of Burmese people to in anyway compare Yingluck and Aung San Suu Kyi . Furthermore you clearly do not understand the extent in scope and time that Aung San Suu Kyi faced total oppression from the Burmese Junta and their henchmen.

Further, she had little hesitation to take up the fake puppet role of pm and thereby insulting the good Thai people, and she had no hesitation in a country where there is no democracy to make a speech about how her government was building and protecting democracy in Thailand and at the same they were making progress towards establishing a dictatorship led by a fugitive criminal.

Now she expects the Thai people should respect her.

    What gall, .

    What stupidity.

    She won, deal with it.

If they held an election tomorrow she would win again.

The Junta wouldn't. That awful Oxbridge gimp wouldn't. So I guess the Thai people do respect her.

    It isn't rocket science, genius.

Your wrong on several points, get used to it.

Can't see what the fuss is about. It would be more surprising if they did not keep an eye on her movements. Methinks they are just trying to play the victim (laughable) as white knights will be outraged just because she is female.

Wont be long before she appears on TV pretending to choke back tears and fluttering her eyelashes hoping that people will overlook she presided over a scam that cost the country over 600 billion baht.

Politics is <deleted> all around the world. All sides just play The Game at the public's expense. They enrich themselves and their cronies. In the west it is a bit more suttle,a board directors job here and there after political life.Political pension plus airfares for life straight after loss of job.Superanuation is way above the norm,i for one am sick of it.

Some truth in what you say, but that can never mean it's all OK.

And in this case were talking about very very large sums of money and dereliction of duty in regard to very very large sums of money.

  4. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

This isn't the way to go about things , the Thai people are very quiet , but push them hard enough may provoke unwelcome reaction .

The Junta are trying to create peace and reconcilliation , a little magnanimity would help .

Some truth in what you say.

However what is also very urgently needed is proper respect for the law and the process of the law. And that will only come and be solid when the public see real examples of proper application of the law for all citizens.

Yingluck and her administration deserves prosecution. To fleece this nation of up to 700 billion baht is horrendous. However, instead of some BS charge such as lack of oversight, the current regime needs to publicize the trail and follow the money trail. Doubt if few members of parliament, the upper echelon of the police force or military as well as most of the "hi/so" class would survive a true probe. For this much money to have been squandered without the involvement of all sides is ridiculous.

However at best the Thai people will get a secret plea bargain deal that will lack any form of transparency. Even though Thaksin and his cronies were involved with their secret G to G deals, most of the rice mills and business is owned by the other color of the elite. That side will never receive justice in any case.

Similar to the massive corruption uncovered thus far under the current regime, most of the charges are based on LM violations. There is no effort in this country to get to the bottom of anything. The sitting government as well as all previous governments lack and will continue to lack transparency.

"There is no effort in this country to get to the bottom of anything."

Have you been asleep for the last year or so?

Please give us an example where the bottom of anything has been found. A one liner statement from you lacks credibility. You can call me asleep but in response I would call you dead. Where has there been transparency? Every time we get figures on the rice scandal or anything else the numbers never add up. It is just more blah, blah, blah from you and the rest of the elite and the idiots that support them.

Well, example please, before you lose (self proclaimed) status on this site!!! Just one example is that too much to ask? Hey I love to fish also, or are you just going to troll on????

I say again, have you been asleep, there are many things in process which are bringing gains to Thailand. Or perhaps you'd like to wind the clock back 1 to 2 years.

    Self proclaimed status?

  6. Hahahah dear unc thanks for the concern smile.png

Seriously its getting that bad about stops? I just spent a few days up north your way getting some embassy paperwork. Never saw anything different except for less motorbikes on sidewalks.

Cant get to the beach with all the jetskies smile.png

Ahh the tactic of trying to sideline the point of the discussion.

    Attempt failed.

  9. "Articles like this are feeding your addiction Rubi.

It offers readers nothing new, but a feeding of resentment in the minority elite class of Bangkok society.

The manic said 'the heart of corruption is entrenched'; going one step further this article does not delve into the double standards accepted by the elite ruling class in the running of the country.

Isn't breaking free supposed to mean levels of corruption and interference in Government and the Judiciary? So you can honestly say that these areas have been patched up? Or on the road to recovery?

I would suggest a 12 step meeting if your urges against the Shinawatras can't be controlled. I am sure there are a few other TV members that would attend?

Just keep letting it out son, you will eventually rid this monkey from your back. Keep coming back."

To be balanced perhaps you would like to talk to the suddenly increasing numbers of posters who make no constructive comments, just addicted to twisting and spinning everything into negative and more negative, and often less than truthful.

This reminds me of the goodies V baddies movies were the baddies nearly win (AKA the red terrorist) and then right at the end of the movie the goodies finally triumph.

Of course some will justify that the Joker, Darth Vader, The Grinch and the guys that tried to hurt the kid in "Home Alone" were the good guys, but at least most know better.

Terrorism is bad. A lack of terrorism is good.

    Quite simple really...

I hope you get the country you deserve

I hope all the good Thai people (including my own kids and my own grandkids) ultimately get the country they deserve, with capable and honest people at the helm.

NACC would proceed with criminal litigation against five former MPs who inserted the voting cards of their colleagues to cast votes on their behalf.

    That was Democracy before.

Open your eyes and ears and learn, dear posters.

Is that what you are all yearning for again?

I'm better the way it is now.................you can shout about Democracy and elections, it is your prerogative after all.

But don't give me excuses that anybody is taking away your freedom of speech.

Election is the only way for a civil society to function.

Also you should study Thai history a little, for example, 1991 during the last "serious" coup, at first it looked just like this one, pacific, then people started to revolt in May 1992, the result was mass killing, bodies was set in Silom Rd. on display, over 400 people. Some were covered in gasoline and burned. My uncle died during that unrest fighting for democracy that goons like yourself keep insulting.

The good general in charge at that time, Suchinda, was then simply forgiven. I bet you would have liked him very much as well.

Luckily you are one lonely sad sorry voice among billions that believe in democracy.

I was in Bangkok at that time, your summary is twisted, especially in trying to make the current situation a somewhat look a like.

You say "The good general in charge at that time, Suchinda". You must be joking, he was a nasty ruthless piece of work.

    Hmmm ...
Someone is spouting off like a beached whale here. Obviously he has no idea about what's going on in the real world or the current local situation here. May I suggest taking a look at your own countries political situation / mess before offering advice and comments here. And some advice .. Don't believe all that you hear or read,, examine the source before accepting it as reality. Draw a balanced opinion / conclusion based on information from multiple reliable and other origins. That way ... You won't make a fool of yourself again.

Yep, someone is spouting off like a whale - you.

Perhaps you'd like to try again with some constructive comment.

Bravo, at least guilty, but far too little punishment for this inhuman people.

The HK$48,000 is for outstanding unpaid wages.

Her punishment is to be handed down on 27 Feb. Hope she goes to jail for a long time plus has to do hard demeaning labor every day.

Great News. I've taught the CEO of a major property company, and one of his main concerns was the time his staff spent on their make you dumb fones.

It i also a major problem for university lecturers.

Hopefully, this will be used as a precedent for work, education, and dare I say it, even socially.

Let's all learn to speak to friends, in our own time, again.

"It i also a major problem for university lecturers. " Certainly agree with that point.

What's also emerging is the keen students:

    - Complaining to other students 'please stop talking on your phone I want to listen to the professor and learn'.

    - Complaining to administration that the professor is not stopping / punishing students who talk on their phone all the time.

As long as they're not doing it while walking in front of me! if they aren't doing their jobs then it's a problem of course. It bugs me but I have to admit if you have some incredibly boring retail job just sitting there for hours on end then it's a blessing for those poor souls.

Retail boring job so it's OK to play games and talk on the phone, customers not noticed and treated as a nuisance.

Well they could be stuck in a situation where their only work options are hard physical labor 8 hours a day in the hot sun, perhaps then they wouldn't be bored?

Its not a fact lost on rhe Thais, educated or not. At the moment rhey acquiesce, they remember rhe message sent by the army in 2010.
    Don't confuse acquiesce with supporting.

I agree on dismantling the Army's power structure. It's the only way that Thailand can progress politically. They will fight to keep power. The question is, in the long term, who would win?

"I agree on dismantling the Army's power structure. It's the only way that Thailand can progress politically"

Ever though that total respect for the law, political leaders being role models for respect for the law and for good morals and political parties / leaders having capability and the public respect their capabilities and impressive track record for policies and implementation which brings a large % of all Thais into a better quality of life through their own productivity their might be the answer?

Phuket: - A Chinese tourist was charged Bt90,000 for two damaged jet skis he and his friends rented in Phuket on Saturday.

But after the case of Zhang Cheng, 27, was raised to the complaint receiving center at the Phuket Provincial Hall Monday morning, the owner of the damaged jet skis agreed to return Bt40,000 to him.

Zhang was led by Anusorn Saleh, former chairman of the Bang Thao Beach Jet Ski Operators Club, to file the complaint.

Zhang and friends rented four jet skis from Yotharak Co in front of Dusit Thani Laguna in Tambon Choeng Thalay of Thalang district. But five minutes later, two jet skis crashed against each other. The owner of the company initially demanded Zhang to pay him Bt200,000 for the damage but he negotiated for the reduction to Bt90,000.

After he paid the damage, Zhang filed a complaint with the Choeng Thalay police station, saying he was taken advantage of.

Anusorn told the complaint receiving center that all jet skis should have been insured for accidents so tourists should not have been charged for the damage caused by any accident. Anusorn said members of the club had agreed to charge patrons for no more than Bt15,000 for each damage jet ski for the loss of income.

After filing the complaint, Zhang left the kingdom.

The owner of the jet skis reported to the complaint center in the afternoon and agreed to return Bt40,000 to Zhang via a representative. He claimed he had to collect the damage fee because his insurance policy for the jet skis had expired.

And how much was this criminal fined for letting his mandatory insurance policy expire? Was he arrested? No. Was he fined? No. Why? The RTP Corp. are his partners in crime.

He didn't renew his insurance, a very simple task. Because it had expired he believes someone else should pay.

Someone needs to remind YLs lawyer that this country is still in martial law and that gives them the right to allow or prevent anyone from doing anything and everything. Including preventing her from going to Hong Kong or China or anywhere else for that matter. Maybe this is another lawyer who needs to have a little "attitude readjustment" session with the Junta. Hehee

Thank you for reminding that a coup have taken place and democracy been crushed and all freedom, rights and liberties have been taken away.

".....all freedom, rights and liberties have been taken away."

Actually, apart from those under investigation, nothing has changed. Thai people are free to travel anywhere in the world that their visa, providing they are eligible to receive one, allows.

Thais and foreigners can move around this country freely and providing they abide by the few rules existing under martial law, not a whole lot has changed.

We all know they can't vote yet, so that's no argument.

Thais have the right to associate with whomsoever they wish, providing that it is not illegal.

Regardless of how many times we hear North Korea, North Korea, we aren't there yet. But some people are looking forward to that end.

He does like his over-exaggerating hyperbole, doesn't he?

Another newbie with nothing constructive to say.

The newbie list suddenly very long, must be attractive.

What's your task, just be negative negative negative and spin away from the topic, same as many on the newbie list?
