Smartphone photo takes 2 seconds and is super easy to set up, you can keep it in your phone photo storage forever and/or very easily and quickly e.mail the photo to yourself. At my house my Thai son's Thai wife keeps every record possible for all the family in a file she created years ago and it has auto back up. Every time there's a new document all family members know to immediately give passport / ID car whatever and new to mum, and she makes a habit of quickly storing it in her file and adding details to a spreadsheet (e.g. expiry date of passport / ID cards, insurance policies etc), then she e.mails a copy of updated spreadsheet to all adults, with new entries in purple colour: - My Thai adult son - My DIL - Four kids - Me

Aus Mobile Phone Provider
scorecard replied to StevieAus's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
Perhaps LINE: calls, SMS, video chat etc, would cover much of your needs, and free across countries, all you need is an internet connection, any provider. For calls back to Thailand from OZ using LINE, all free and a very large % of Thai people, even Thai business houses, banks and more are using line, all free Calls. -

Cancer Patient Narrowly Escapes Death Due to Hospital Error
scorecard replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
My Thai son's MIL was diagnosed (by the head doctor at local small gov't hospital) with a leak in her heart system no treatment offered. It got worse family asked for second opinion. Refused. Family asked for referral to take her to another hospital for a diagnosis. Refused along with severe abuse about damaging the reputation of the head doctor and the hospital. She died. My Thai son tried to convince the family to request an investigation. Total no and son got abuse for his suggestion which would have damaged the reputation of the doctor and the local hospital. End of story. -
Thaksin May Face Jail If Denied Bail in Lese Majeste Case

Sure but don't forget he has several passports. And his private jet could easily be moved to one of the jet airports just over the border. He could easily get across the border and 10 minutes later be in his private jet ready to roll. -
Electricity costs for remote controlled electric sliding gates
scorecard replied to scorecard's topic in IT and Computers
What I should have emphasised in my first message is that we installed a PAT remote controlled sliding gate opener closer about 10 years ago and the machine works well, never ever had a problem. But now we have problems with the very small remote controls, 2 have totally failed. So looking to replace the 2 totally failed remotes, hopefully at a reasonable price. AN member Sandyf kindly shared that his wife has an app on her smartphone to operate their PAT gate opener / closer. Someone posted a photo of the app involved but I now can't find that post. The first word of the name of the app was Smart but I can't remember the second word and I can't find it in the app stores. Would appreciate is a member can please share photo of the app and share what app store to search in. Thanks, appreciated. -
Sorry to hear your situation. I admire your desire to achieve the best situation for your young daughter. There must be several other foreigners been through the same and got a good result. Hopefully you'll get helpful advice by PM. Good luck

"I don't appreciate it as it is a very conspicuous sign of the westernization of Thai diet (and lifestyle)." I don't see that. I live with my Thai son, his Thai wife and 4 kids. My Thai wife has sadly passed on, she was a Dr. of medicine, studied for her numerous medical qualifications in Australia. Including nutrition including childhood nutrition. Her belief was that a good variety of Thai food provided good nutrition. But her studied opinion was that Thai toddlers / children were missing the high value nutrition gained from cows milk. She ensured our son drank fresh cows milk every day in addition to good quality quantities of breast milk. When our son (our only child) was mid teens she often explained to him the benefits of daily cows milk and she had found good printed materials to prove her point. But his solid food diet was mostly good balanced Thai fare, but with some typical western foods - best example, son grew up to appreciate good beef steak. Today son has 4 kids, 18, 13, 8 an 10 months. Son remembered his mothers comments and explanations re the value of fresh cows milk and every day the family consumes around 4 litres of fresh cows milk. (Family: my Thai son, his 4 kids, son's wife now a convert, and me.) But (from 2 paras above) their solid food diet is mostly good balanced Thai fare*, but with some typical western foods - best example, son's kids all love good beef steak. *A plus is that both my Thai son and his Thai wife completed bachelor degrees which gave them vast / excellent knowledge about nutrition.

Whatever. Other benefits? I've never received anything more than my entitlement and I've never suggested I have received more than my entitlements. -
K.Heinkn has mentioned previously that he doesn't receive the OAP or any other C'link benefits. So that seems to indicate that he doesn't have a C'link CRN (customer reference number). So I doubt that he's 'qualified' to discuss C'link policies and / or discuss centrelink interactions if he doesn't have a CRN.

I've just been reading some later posts. Further to the my post above (repeated from 14 June 05:30 am) calls using 001 800 611 4136 are toll free. As I mentioned I've used this toll free number many times from Thailand. It's always connected quickly and answered quickly. I've never ever encountered rudeness from any Centrelink officer (on the phone or when I did a couple of times initially visit the local big C'link office near Narrabeen just above Sydney), always good listeners, always pleasant, and always focused on the subject of my call. At least twice the officer on the phone has said 'please hold the line just 1 or 2 minutes so I can get some advice on this from my supervisor on this point'. Calls never went dead, officer was back on the line quickly with a clear focused answer. Always ended the calls with a clear and fully focused response to my question. We seem to have some members who love to have difficulties / drama with C'link.
