A farang guy and his wife versus cement truck. Cement truck won
RIP to both of you.

Excellent pics, same era when I first came to Samui. Can't remember the ring road being concreted though and I am only going back about 26 years.
And some say it is paradise now!

I am hearing reports of a dead foreigner washed up on a beach in Phuket this morning.
Does anyone know any more?
RIP to whoever you are.

Rarely post simply because too many threads get hijacked and then it's the start of a downward spiral - makes interesting reading sometimes.

'Ancient Siam' in Boran , close to Samut Prakan do full traditional Thai wedding packages in a stunning location with all the bells and whistles. Well worth looking into IMHO.

Rumour has it that Toyota are bringing out a brand new model early 2015, something to rival Ford and Mazda. Might just be worth waiting.

Thought about Langkawi at all? Only a boat ride to Satun and IMHO nicer than Penang. Thailand has more 'fun' and a sanuuk attitude but could be worth a look. Malaysia also has the MM2H scheme offering a long-term visa and better rights for expats which could be worth thinking about.

RIP Swissman.
So if he washed up in Chumphon, who was it that was found floating in the water between Koh Tao and Koh Phangngan and who was it that was washed up in Khanom?

First set foot here in 1986/7. Totally unrecognizable now and today people call it a paradise island? Paradise lost maybe ..

I have seen a picture of Patong from 40 years ago and there was nothing but palm trees from the beach back to the mountain. There was one building higher than the palm trees.
Patong approx 35 years ago .. the one buidling doubled from a restaurant to hotel.

how convienent that a piece of wood was nearby.and look at the smirk on the coppers face as he squeezes his arm.
That is not a policeman touching his arm.
Correct. Khoo pai, similar to police but yam or guards who help the police.

So this topic is I assume a response to an answer I gave in another topic. If I caused offence, I didn't mean to but there are people on here and various other sites that ask questions that with just a tiny little bit of research would save themselves time and the 'effort' of having to post on a forum. Was it not on here a few years ago, someone was asking where to buy a toothbrush? Silly questions IMHO and I will stand by with what I said.

Why only negative responses? Personally, I think there is a hell of a lot more police work being done than is publicised and instead of being so critical, why not let the police/investigators do their job and if anything, be positive. So, unless any of you 'nay' sayers know exactly what is going on behind the scenes, would it not be best to keep quiet about it?
You obviously haven't been following this very closely.
@ gemini18 - If it is relevant, touching 30 years. You?
@ Phuketandsee - Quite the opposite but I am a realist. Yes, mistakes have been made but there is an awful lot going on that you, me and the rest of Joe public don't know about. It is for that reason I am not being so negative.

South post # 22.
..... because ever since this incident occurred 95+% of the posts on this thread and the multitude of others have been demeaning and negative which does not help anybody at all. That's why.

Type CTH Lamai into Google. It took me .59 seconds.
You could have also not wasted 15 secs with that smart arse response. If you are still bored and lonely perhaps you could tell me if its still open and operating from there today?
What is smart arsed about that? It states that there is an office on the ring road and it also gives you a call centre number.
Stupid questions by lazy people! Simple as.

Can't speak for Chaweng or Lamai but the waters in Maenam are fine. Agreed there is a brownish tinge at times but as far as I know, that is just the run off from the rivers which is mostly evident after there has been rain.
