Long-Stay Visa ID Cards For Foreigners
Bday Prang replied to BangkokBernie's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Verification of visa status to who exactly? How many times have you had to verify your visa status? Its hardly normal to be asked to do so, but that will change if they start issuing ID cards. Anybody staying here long term can obtain a yellow book, any ID card issued will also require some supporting documents at least one of which will be a passport (with a visa ) but do you really think the Thai bureaucracy will settle for that? No way, It will involve a trip to the amphur along with witnesses and the Poo Yai Bahn and whatever else they dream up People should stop trying to turn this country into a copy of the miserable place they have just left -

And you think a stupid plastic card will stop illegal immigration ? Please explain how. Bearing in mind, firstly, that the 1st action taken by the illegals as they approach the UK is to throw any existing ID into the sea. and secondly as it appears impossible to deport the invaders, the only option will be to hand out ID cards to them all. So it won't stop them coming and it won't affect them staying Got any better ideas Einstein -

Anybody who needs a card to constantly remind them who they are should consider applying for the alien worker ID card , The pink ID card much beloved by some on here who feel it provides them with some sort of elevated status The OP, the content which I have no trouble understanding, seems unaware of that cards existence ! I have never had to prove my visa status anywhere except on arrival -

I'm from the UK. we have, so far, managed to avoid this intrusion into our lives , (up to now at least). I am in no rush to be forced to carry an ID card here or anywhere else. I don't generally carry my passport either but have never ever had a related problem. Shove them ID cards where the sun don't shine They may well be able to print one off for you for 300 baht, that is not the issue, the issue will be how much they can fine you for not carrying it, It will a lot more than 300 baht -

most of the most vehement Trump haters don't even know why they hate him, its just like the idiots who didn't know where "from the river to the sea" referred to -
Unlikely, as most motorcycles have the lights on permanently now , you must have a very old one. Which locals told you that, would it be the ones with no driving licence ,

Why is it so important, he did ok last time, didn't start any wars, didn't crash the economy, I can't see what all the fuss is about -
Although experts now believe that it was actually introduced there by either an Australian or New Zealand rugby player possibly when they travelled there for an international match as subsequent testing has discovered the presence of the virus in players from both countries and in their accompanying sheep

Three American Bully dogs maul 70-year-old man to death
Bday Prang replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I agree with fining them serious money, but imagine the practicalities of collecting it of those who simply don't have it. If they must allow people to keep such dangerous animals then clearly some sort of compulsory insurance to cover incidents like this would be the only answer Any dog attack should result in the dog involved being destroyed immediately, even if they shoot the wrong dog, at the end of the day its just a dog for gods sake -

They are the equivalent of a tattoo on a string, useful for those who have no more skin available for further tattoos or for those who are scared of needles. Its actually unbelievable that anybody would want to keep one , and astonishing that its legal -

Well lets wipe out all vicious dogs breeds or at the very least restrict who is allowed to possess or breed them -

it certainly looks like he could have benefited from some medication, but compassion won't have done him any good

And how would you describe somebody who was perfectly happy that the nuclear launch codes are in the possession of a man in the advanced stages of dementia ? Equally worthy of a head examination would be the correct answer -
Well as it was 3 years ago I would imagine some shrink somewhere would have diagnosed him by now.

syphilis, interestingly a disease once only found in sheep I believe

Why should anybody feel inclined to express compassion for somebody they don't know and have never met ? I'd find it much more disappointing to see the usual, and currently fashionable , outpouring of hollow, vacuous, virtue signalling, sympathy over something that happened years ago. The guys a nutter who needs locking up until they decide what they can do with him , he should never be allowed near an aircraft again, Just imagine being stuck on a plane with a psycho like that, god only knows what he is capable of, not to mention the possible delays to the flight, The senior stewards should have access to taser or similar device and should be trained and prepared to deal with the ever increasing number of lunatics that there seems to be these days, Personally I blame the vaccine

International Driving Permit required?
Bday Prang replied to sheldoncollier's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The way I understood it was If your licence is in English and has a photograph then you don't technically need an IDP ,which is understandable really, as there is no Thai translation in it, it serves no purpose here other than to translate licences in other language into English however if the cop that asks you for it has a different interpretation of the law then problems will inevitably ensue. There is absolutely no disadvantage to having one, they are easy to obtain, at least they are in the UK. just a visit to the post office ,(now generally found hiding in WH Smiths) just over £5 a time , but now they last for 3 years ! it used to be only 1 (yet another advantage of brexit apparently) Its worth bearing in mind that IDPs and Foreign Licences only actually permit one to drive for a certain period of time, I think in Thailand its 90 days, I have never heard of police checking passports for entry dates, but in the case of an accident i guess an insurance company might pick up on this. For most tourists , and those on ME visas it wouldn't be an issue I am also pretty sure that one would need to show an IDP along with ones foreign licence if applying for a Thai licence so that's another thing to bear in mind along with possible issues with rental companies Personally my advice would be to get one , It may come in very handy and could save you some hassle
