Nato: Warm words but a diplomatic reality check for Ukraine
Tropposurfer replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Keep giving them the weapons to drive the vile ORC's from your land, then lets seem whats what. Seems reasonable. If they were granted membership now during an active conflict would this not put NATO at war with Russia, seeing as each member state is treaty bound to defend the other? -
I love to cook. No pics to share as I always forget to photo-bomb the cr@p outa my masterpieces lol ???? I enjoy making all sorts of fair. We are lucky as we have a great western kitchen with all the do-dads to make creating easier. I get great joy making a cake and giving it to friends as one example. The caddies at the club go absolutely crazy for my banana, and apple, and other berry cup cakes and muffins. And of course being an Aussie I BBQ like a champion ???? Made my best ever (only tried to do twice before) lobster thermidor last weekend! It was amazing from the feedback we got around the table ???????? ... yeah I'm trying slowly more adventurous and difficult stuff. Motorbike crash on Patong Hill leaves 2 wounded
Tropposurfer replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Yep a veritable quasi-Afghani war zone on LOS roads! More stellar script writing, and or translation faux pass in LOS lol???? 'Injured' would be the correct use of language me thinks, 'injured resulting in wounds to this or numerous part of the body.' -
Nah I don't think so. Maybe in some years, when we are older and less agile. I enjoy driving, golfing, sailing gardening way too much to spend years on the same cruise ship. Maybe a nice QE2 ultra-lux styled number would be cool at an older age, some shorter cruises like the river cruises in Europe seem to appeal to me looking into older age. Maybe some more private motor yacht cruising e.g Greek Islands, Corsica, Sardinia (gorgeous place to sail around and anchor). Haven't cruised in the Caribbean as yet (bucket list).

Estimates of Trump rally crowd size ‘absurd’

There are actually plenty who don't pathologically lie like the traitor Trump. Granted politicians are an odd breed who play lightly with the truth but this sociopath is in another league of dangerous inept catastrophic and cancerous. -

Its interesting to read the comments about 'woke'. Granted the extreme of the continuum or awareness has and always has been strange and full of obvious mal-adaptions and neuroses. The notion of the dictionary meaning of the word woke is however nothing but the seeking of awareness and the promulgation of open mindedness ... ... "What is the meaning of woke in Oxford dictionary? /wəʊk/ (informal, often disapproving) aware of social and political issues, especially racism This word is often used in a disapproving way by people who think that some other people are too easily upset about these issues, or talk too much about them in a way that does not change anything. (https://www.google.com/search?q=definitions+opf+woke&rlz=1C5CHFA_enAU964AU964&oq=definitions+opf+woke&aqs=chrome..69i57.290053525j1j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 "wake VERB. 1 if Gran wakes she'll want a glass of water | at 4.30 a.m. Mark woke up: awake, awaken, waken (up), rouse, stir, come to, come around; get up, get out of bed, bestir oneself, get going, come alive, show signs of life; literary arise. ANTONYMS sleep; fall asleep2 she opened the door before waking her husband | he woke her up with a cup of tea: waken, rouse, arouse, bring to, bring around; British informal knock up.3 a clip round the ear might wake him up a bit: stir up, activate, stimulate, spur, prod, galvanise, enliven, give a lift/boost to, ginger up, buoy up, refresh, invigorate, revitalise, inspire; informal perk up, pep up. 4 they finally woke up to what we have been saying: realise, become aware of, become conscious of, become mindful of, become heedful of, become alert to.5 the name woke a forgotten and embarrassing memory: evoke, call up, conjure up, rouse, stir, revive, awaken, refresh, renew, resuscitate, revivify, rekindle, reignite, rejuvenate, stimulate." (Oxford Dictionary, 2023.). The word 'woke' has like so much of the English language been hijacked by extremist, either that of the extreme left chaotic-anarchist or the far right racial-supremacists who are just as equally anti-social, anti-awareness, anti-critical thinking, bigoted and authoritarian. If you read the words in bold then to be anti-woke indicates you are one of those who a barrier to cohesive society not the other who identifies with social and political ideologies and processes aligned with free speech, free thinking, tolerance, expansive evolutionary developing thinking, and action. What then makes a person anti-woke? The simple answer to this question is fear. Fear in many forms. Most of this fear is taught in the familial home (usually multi-generationally welded into the family system) and reinforced in some circles of societies outside of the family outward and as we see across the globe. Fear of those who are different usually along racial lines is one of the base-lines of such bigotry. Fear of 'the other' has been habitually and neurotically expressed in every anti-woke trope I have ever read. Fear and its enablers justifiers; hate & rage are always palpable in such tropes. Moderate considered woke is one of the fuels which moves humanity forward and towards its highest ideals and achievements e.g the development of democracy in the Greek state of Polis (Athens) around the 6th century B.C. was a classic example of woke thinking. The paranoid ideologies that drag queens and gay people will consume humanity and make us all gay is, from histories teaching, the same paranoid fabled narrative that is worthy of compassion and engagement with those who suffer such bigoted, underdeveloped thinking and familial created emotional abuse promoted paranoia. 'Real men' don't fear gay people, or different thinking, quite the opposite. Extreme Islam and Christianity have anti-woke movements non less than political groups who court and curry favour with these religions because they recognise them as already having within them masses of bigoted and fearful patrons e.g. Sharia and the evangelical Pentecostal faiths to name but two who espouse, and energetically so, anti-woke ideologies/theologies. Indeed there are forms of Buddhism that hold such ideologies and practices. Most would identify Buddhism as being perhaps one of the most tolerant of spiritual paths but in some forms it is as violently anti-woke. They too see 'the other' as less-than, threatening. So threatening in fact e.g. Some of the Buddhist sects of Myanmar view Muslim Rohingya as less than insects on the reincarnation wheel and therefore justifiable of 'extermination'.

Overpass collapses in Lat Krabang, injuring many
Tropposurfer replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
As a monumentally stupid person I resent that! ???????????????????????? -
I wonder what the motivation for his murder was? The previous conviction for sexual child abuse is awful and heinous. I wonder if it had anything to do with that, or any current perverse behaviours he may have been acting out? I'm reminded of some of the US mafia films I have seen where mob guys would cut up people then put them in industrial mincing machines or feed them to pigs. A gruesome ordeal all around.

Cluster bombs are bad sh!t. They're wrong doing this, really wrong. Perhaps (and I aint' no world conflict savant) if the West had not trickle fed the Ukraine as they have with weapons to date they wouldn't need such sh!t cruel (to civilians after conflict) weapons in the first place. The grind of set piece trench, artillery led warfare won't get it done for Ukraine.

Don't bother to help anyone
Tropposurfer replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
This manoeuvre is banned in Australia and has been for many years (St. Johns ambulance staff, no para-medic, doctor, nurse or hospital staff use it anymore) because it risks breaking ribs and causing internal organ damage (especially if the person has some spinal damage or spinal abnormality you don't know about - spurs). The standard procedure for dislodging food in the oesophagus is a firm flat hand slap between the centre of the shoulder blades. Repeated numerous times if warranted. As an added note: Putting your fingers in a persons mouth to try to clear an obstruction can be very dangerous to you - especially if they are unconscious - reflex biting can be extremely strong! It may be necessary especially if the person has vomited considerably ... ... Drowned people often have this symptom. Clearing the mouth and positioning the patient correctly in the 'rescue position' is then done quickly prior to, and sometimes during resuscitation if the patient begins to revive, cough and express material from the mouth. Other posters have already said; No first aid should be offered or administered unless the proposed recipient (so long as they are conscious) agrees to your assistance BEFORE you touch them at all. If the person is unconscious, you are trained, and are willing to take the responsibility of any impact your first-aid intervention may have then by all means assist the person. But be warned if you hurt them or they die under your care you may be considered liable to some degree. As we get older we produce less saliva. it's a a good idea to have some liquid when eating and take sips between mouthfuls to lubricate the mouth and throat.
