  1. Ive got my mankini all ready to go .... I just hope it doesn't make my butt look too big!
  2. Be very careful and highly vigilant when it comes to tendering your kids with others here. Make sure you vet extremely carefully. Speak to lots of parents, and ask around elsewhere about any institutions being considered.
  3. More thoroughly overloaded utility vehicles bite the dust. 2 tonnes is twice the weight max that model of vehicle is rated to carry. National load height, and weight restrictions need to be reworked and reinforced ... I reckon this would pull thousands of the death toll each year.
  4. To be clear it is NOT an International Drivers LICENSE. It is an International Driving PERMIT.
  5. That's how we tell da uber rich despots. They circulate amongst all their like mates who all look like some sort of Star Trek aliens and convince, amongst themselves, how great they look haha????
  6. Dive shops, Central Malls, Junceylon - Big C Patong has them (had them a while back?) Junceylon Patong & Central Malls on both sides of da island have surf-shops. Dont buy cheap ones cause they loose their UV protection properties really quickly (from an old surfer boy).
  7. I can smell a Road Trip ! Take a nice leisurely 2 days with one nights sleep over along the way, early morning swim at the overnight digs. Bit of sight seeing, stopping for morning and afternoon coffee and kanom ... lubbly jubbly ????
  8. A total rip off. Why oh why invest in ANY real estate - anywhere! that offers a nett return of 6% ludicrous. Go and buy a house in Australia and make 20% perm annum mean average, and not get bled pale by all and sundry off that nett profit as well.
  9. Poor choice of language in the heading me thinks
  10. RIP dear woman. Swimming on the west coast during the monsoon/rough sea season is dangerous for sure. Not only the movement of the water but the huge objects (massive trees) that abound during breaking wave season. I am an excellent surf swimmer but since moving here I always swim during this season with a flotation device due to the different current types and the way the water behaves differently to Australian beaches which I am accustomed to. The lack of lifeguards, jetski's or rubber duckie rescue craft encouraged me to get one of these too. I'm getting older so if I were to have some difficulty I can simply wrap this device close to me or across the chest and under my armpits and rest as long as is needed. My advice is don't swim on the west coast without being a very strong surf swimmer during the monsoon season, never alone, if you come from Europe or US and only know flat lake or river swimming don't go in when there is swell running, never with any alcohol (or next day after a bender), never after eating (1 or 2 hours to digest before), never dive into the shore break unless you are sure of the depth (test the depth first), always swim with advice from and in front of the lifeguards.
  11. Same family as the delicious custard apple ... How interesting says this ageing gardener
  12. Ahh ... ever the optimist Worg ... lol ????
  13. Of course he did! It's to keep the mega amounts of money from beer import and manufacture in the hands of his mates and benefactors. Nice little grift huh.
  14. Jeez !!! I'd stay home or get yourself a really nasty ladyboy minder lol ????????
  15. Seeing as you're talking a smallish amount (80K USD) then shop around to find the best deal from the US end banks. Citibank were always accommodating from my business experiences with them (although that was some decades ago lol????) If you want to transfer in a single transaction then a simple bank to bank transfer is arguably easiest ... this can be done for you at your brach if you prefer .... OR ... you can do it from your own terminal at home (if you have the account set up to do so). Watch out for the fees though > this is why I mention shopping around for the best bank. If you're going to live here and have a pension and the odd extra bit randomly drop into your account it might pay to check out other banks rather than the one you have now as they may offer much more help and better rates on moving your precious pension across the globe. If your bank won't allow you to do this from your own internet banking account then I'd suggest you go look at another bank cause there are quite a few that will accommodate such direct internet transfers > I am speaking of Singapore, UK, and Australian banks though ... US banks might be different?
  16. CPE training, swimming training, water rescue, road safety for all schools right up to high school graduation.
  17. Leave, cut any losses, and buy another plot, maybe offer moral support to the owner to go and complain to the authority. Spend more money and buy a larger block/s so you can situate your new build further away from the boundaries. Land is dirt cheap here (compared to western countries) ... even in the tourist areas.
  18. I was born in a nation that saw voting as law, and a duty to self and country (obviously not the strange, bizarre US of A), and perhaps more importantly a privileged right to honour and cherish. A nation where ones choice was honoured and respected despite the outcome of any election. most noticeably because we have a totally sane, transparent, and un-fiddled election system. Acknowledging the falsities and deceit of some/many who seek political office makes more imperative the need to vote with alacrity and wisdom. I do not see the validity of opinion of anyone who sees benefiting from the nation that bore and nurtured them (however unsatisfactorily and cynically viewed to them that may have been) not voting and exercise the freedom and social voice they have been gifted as members of a free society. Such a 'democratic (?) right seems to deny and spit in the face of the very freedoms they have enjoyed all their lives. The narrative that theres' no point because the outcome is rigged, or pre-ordained in some conspiratorial power clutching/retaining, dystopian fatalistic way only serves to support both the truth of this statement. the historical, sociological, and relational notion of making oneself informed and voting wisely for the best candidate all the more prescient. Sorry Rooster but I call a saddened BS to your notions and comments.
  19. Many years ago now I guess (in my late teens and twenties if I recall) police corruption in NSW, and in other States too I believe e.g. Qld under that crook Bejelke Peterson, was rampant. Massive task force Investigations (maybe a Royal Commission? I can't remember) and special Internal Affairs I.A. task forces cleaned the forces out of the drug dealers, extortionists, thieves, bullies, and violent ones e.g. 'phone-booking' people for confessions, bashing innocent people for fun, murder, you name it, it was being done. Now the NSW forces are all but clean, and set a high standard and example. Body cam's, longer and more rigorous training and assessment, and other sweeping reforms cemented this new era of policing.
  20. As far as I am aware as a resident here: You MUST have an International Drivers Permit apart from your UKL license. A foreign license does not allow you to drive here. This applies to all tourists who wish to ride/drive in LOS. You cannot drive any vehicle in LOS after 60 days without applying for and holding a Thai license. If you have insurances for riding or driving that insurance will be voided if you drive beyond the 60 day period without gaining a Thai license.
  21. Violent parasites the lot of em' Hope he get a few decades behind bars.
  22. Buy a good/best quality HDMI cable, buy a can of electrical circuit cleaning spray, spray out the connection on the tv wait a bit for the freon spray to evaporate and plug in and see. Oh power off the tv at the set and wait a few minutes then turn on the set at the tv again.
  23. No need to schedule watering the pot plants then??
  24. I think you mean 100 kilometres to the litre? ... For a new gen. hybrid. 10 kilometres to a litre is what an old (20-25 year old) normally aspirated 6 cylinder engine with outdated 4 speed gear box delivers litre per km. Toyotas are traditionally almost bullet proof. Not sure of the build quality of this new gen. but I'd hazard a guess its also almost indestructible like the rest. It isn't too weird looking either.
