You can substitute a domestic SWIFT transfer in place of an ACH and the transfer will arrive in your Bangkok bank account just as in the "old" ACH transfer. Domestic SWIFT transfers are not free like the ACH of old, but they are often cheaper than international SWIFT transfers.
Thanks. Looks like my bank only accepts in person SWIFT transfers. Doh! I guess I will try Wise.

Apparently there is some way to transfer money from my USA account to my Bangkok Bank account going through the New York Bangkok Bank branch that is cheaper than doing an international wire transfer. I can't figure out how to do it though. I guess I'll call my USA bank to figure it out but I just thought I'd check in and see if anybody has successfully set it up.
I know I can use Wise but I like the security of staying within the regulated banking system.
I'm not using it for a retirement visa so that is not a concern.
Thanks.

Just checked my order, didn't realise that a specific store was nominated - Big C Extra, Rama 4.
Did you get your watermelon? I ordered it from Bog C Rajadamri but later received a phone call that it's actually not in stock.

I ordered online for a Bangkok delivery, no idea where it comes from specifically, does it matter if what you want is delivered?
I mean what store? Big C and Lotus show out of stock for me.

Thanks for the links, next time in BigC,
I now have a photo to find it
I have chosen to ignore some content, but that branded seedless watermelon never seems to be available, must be a limited seasonal crop. Happy to proven wrong!

The number of seeds in the watermelons here! I wonder why there are no seedless watermelons in Thailand. I guess you have to buy seedlings and it doesn't make economic sense for the farmers. I like watermelon juice and it is just darn annoying.....

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments and advice.

Thanks! I will check out BPC. Can either of you recommend a specific therapist by name? Or is it just one person?

An orthopedist in Chiang Mai treated my shoulder with a cortisone injection, after he suspected a rotator cuff sprain or tear, which really helped for almost a year. When the gyms opened back up I returned to fairly low level fixed weight lifting and gradually the pain returned also. Another cortisone shot did not help much. I guess it is time for an MRI as suggested by the orthopedist and I will likely do that.
I am now in Bangkok and I wonder if anyone has had a good experience with a physical therapist and avoided surgery? Hoping to get a recommendation for a specific person and maybe an orthopedist also. Thanks.

I bought shoes one time online. That was a mistake. The only way to get a good fit is to try them on imho. I'll check out the CM store. I didn't know it existed.
I predict will be very happy to have discovered Decathlon in Thailand, as I was.

But you said someone was convicted. Make your mind up! There IS a law.
The law applies to the lessor only, not the lessee. ????

More recently, 2 foreigners were escorted out the building neighbouring condo just over a week back - someone complained about smoking on balcony, juristic visited the room, found undocumented tenants, and called the cops. To be fair, they have warning signs all over lobby. No idea what happened with guests, but they didn't return. Taking info from condo's Urbanice app social board. In our condo we have a few rooms renting out rooms on AirBNB, but we usually see same foreigners around for several weeks. They are mostly young couples. All it takes is one resident getting upset and making a complaint, though...
And about "there is no law against renting a condo for a short time", I assume you read this: https://www.juslaws.com/articles/renting-out-a-condominium-on-airbnb-in-thailand
If a court rules that something is illegal, are you still claiming the law doesn't exist? What basis did the court rule that short term rental violates the hotel act then? Please substantiate with a comment from a law firm at least, not a personal bar stool opinion.
I am not claiming the law doesn't exist. I am saying it is not enforced.
In addition the lessee, the person who rents from the owner, is not breaking any law and has done absolutely nothing illegal by renting through Airbnb or another site. (My bad that it was not clear that I was referring to the lessee not the lessor.)
It is not a personal bar stool opinion. I am a lawyer here (well a legal advisor technically) and I teach Thai business law.
I'm not arguing that short term rentals should be allowed. I am just telling you the reality of the situation.

In May of 2018 a Hua Hin condo owner was convicted under that law. Since then??? Maybe one other conviction that I know of and that was a short term party house rental in a mooban. Everybody knows it is a law that is not enforced and that there is no legal danger, although it may be against condo regulations.
And, by the way, there is no law against renting a condo for a short time. The renter
of a short term condo has not broken the law no matter how long he rents for.
That said, it is a no brainer. Don't stay where you are not wanted.

Can anyone recommend a specific doctor by name that they have had a good experience with for a dental implant on Bangkok? I'm also curious about people's experience with the different brands of implants. There seems to be a lot of price variation. Finally, any comments about the implant process in general. First time for me. Thanks!

They don't want the business. They could offer a sort by English menu button with virtually no programming effort but they don't.
You can use their online site with Chrome and Google Translate the page, although logging in to see the prices is annoying as you must use a phone access code each time. It is the easiest way though.

Would these be genuine? Compare to 31$ at Walmart currently.
Well, I bought them. I hope so. Lazada says double your money back if they are fake if sold in LazMall. They haven't arrived yet though.

The simple truth is that the Gillette Fusion is an amazing piece of technology that provides a quick smooth close shave in virtually no time at all. And the Mach 3 is also extraordinary compared to the shavers of yore.
If you like to romanticize safety razors and all the processes surrounding them go ahead. I understand there is comfort in a masculine ritual. It is of course delusional but what the hell.
I gave up trying to find genuine cheaper Fusion and Mach 3 blades online. It's painful but I just buy them at Boots or any supermarket. Because they are far far better than anything else.

I am a fan of Siam Pharmacy in Manhatun Plaza at the Ploenchit BTS station. Large well stocked pharmacy with helpful friendly English speaking staff and low prices.
Shoulder Orthopedist Recommendation
in Health and Medicine
Posted
I am having a shoulder MRI for a suspected rotator cuff tear this weekend at Prachachuen MRI and then plan on taking the results to an orthopedist. Any recommendations for a doctor, preferably at Saint Louis or Bangkok Christian hospitals.
I have seen that Sheryl recommends Dr. Mason at Bumrungrad, but I just recently had a series of GI tests there that left me thinking I would like to avoid them. However, if that is the best I will go there. Sheryl? Thanks!
I suspect a full tear and surgery given the amount of pain I have, but I hope I am wrong. I do have inpatient insurance so if need be I can go to a more expensive hospital.
