  1. You can pick up beetles in good condition for 200k all day long, find deals for 120-150k and find projects for less than that.

Buses are not a whole lot more.

i believe you had not take a proper look at them, they are no where near good condition, even at some "reputable" or "popular" beetle shops here. look underneath the fenders, look at the rubber linings, flip up the rear seats, grab a mirror look at the underneath. they are all nothing but a typical amateur job, looking great on the outlook but anything beyond need work. i too was looking at afew beetles here and was terribly disappointed as afew shops i went are supposed to be reputable. they need work, plentiful of it. the chassis, the suspension, the body, the brushing etc etc any classic beetle lover could tell

to properly restore a beetle is not a easy job, you will need to do a great deal of sheet metal works, welding and stuff which i believe your friend is looking for

Yes that is what my friend is looking for.

    Thank you for your information.

Black Artemis Do you know the name of the shop and what the name of the general area it is in.

Don't know the name of the shop. But that's right on Ratanagosin road before the bridge. Keep going straight and you will be at Prince/CMIS/Payap ad the 2nd hand weekend market.

  2. Flew them for years from 2005-2008 and watched them steadily decline in quality. Their in seat entertainment was a bit odd, economy had the selectable userface, but business class had to make due with channels that looped movies.

I have noticed that they are more expensive than the rest, at least for me. BKK to EWR (Newark NJ).

I flew Singapore air in April and it was fantastic, I also LOVE Thai Air, but they discontinued their BKK to JFK nonstop flights...

  3. Could I afford the plane ticket? Sure, just bought a few. But I'm in no rush to get down there and back, so a one way plane tickets costs the same as 2 ways by train.

Though it isn't a huge amount of money by any means. And it may be a safer bet than gambling on the train tracks being clear...

  4. Was at Mandalay a few years back, spoke Thai and was let in for free. After going once, I never wanted to go in twice. It was quite boring, maybe it was just when I went.

And yes, it's called "Mandagay" for a reason.

Been the Fabrique once in April, they tried to charge me, asked if my Half friend had to pay 150B and told them my money would pay directly to the bar, not a voucher and I got in.

But dam_n were their girls bitchy. I have never had a problem meeting Thais at Riverside/Good View/Warm/Monkey/Infinity/Vision etc etc. But even a hello or cheers was turned down and I was not trying to score a girl, just be friendly to those around my table of friends. I was also dressed in my usual jeans and button down shirt.

Had farang friends who love it there go there on Sat night, turned down the invitation and ended up staying in, was more enjoyable.

I prefer Warm and Riverside for the atmosphere and music. If I have good friends going or a band I like is playing, I will go to monkey. But they pack you in there as others have said.

  5. Also, fine, the person may be on break. But don't sit down in the seat in front of the service window and proceed to ignore everyone.

Furthermore as I mentioned above, Nok has 4 counters. 2 is not enough and running just one is a joke.

I still will use AA, but make sure I do everything inmy power to not end up at their counters and if I have a problem, I will complain to the higher ups.

  6. If your ok with the Fiberboard stuff, you can get a

Desk, a few "book shelves, a wardrobe, bed frame, and a decent mattress for about 20k

A cheap pleather coach is 2-3k 5-7 for a cheap cloth one, 10-15k for something better

electronics, that depends on the brand and what you need.

  7. wondering how different the thai non-turbo engine block, internals, compression ratio etc if it would be viable to get the parts to upgrade it to a turbo?

would think a manufacture spec turbo install, maybe with a mild remap would be more reliable day to day than an aftermarket conversion?

    cheers

Was just wondering the same thing. Would they just make the 1.4 with forged internals as per the norm and then just leave off the turbo? Or would they be making weaker internals as well. If it's forged internals an aftermarket turbo install would be fine, just get whatever the rest of the sonic/cruze community is upgrading to. If it's a plain jane engine, maybe a beefed up after market kit for large HP would be an option, though then you would be looking at 100-300k extra in parts...

  8. I picked up a Honda nice for 9000. Jumped on a Yellow truck at 5am on Saturday and rode out to San Patong for 20B to "Gat Hua" (probably mispronouncing it). THey had tons of bikes from 2000-100,000. The guy wanted 13,000 for the bike so I walked away, tucked all my money away except for 9,000 and told him I only had 9,000. He took it, he wasn't estatic, but he took it. Then I rode the bike back into town where the next day I proceeded to strip it down for parts and from what I saw, it was a good, clean bike.

  9. Check here Google maps 18.779983,98.988229 There is a Chinese guy there who has a lot of bikes, they range from about 15,000 to 30,000 baht. He's got a fairly good rep.

    http://maps.google.c...ved=0CAkQ8gEwAA

known two people to buy utter beat bikes from him and he offers and exchange, but low and behold the only exchanges he has at the moment at all a bit more expensive, despite there being multiple bikes at the original price point. Furthermore the bikes they got the second time were still not 100%.

My mechanic work on the far end of Nataram at the front of the temple, he has never suggested me to go look at this guy's bikes when I wanted something new...

  10. One thing you have to remember, if you are going to up the CC and power, you are going to want to increase the stopping power, maybe elongate the wheel base, look at some wider tires and maybe even up the fuel delivery system.

Just increasing the engine size will lead to a fast but unstable bike.

Also consider what you want to use this bike for, a wild cam set up and a bore up to 300cc might need a rebuild every few thousand KM as it is more for drag racing rather than around town.

My Nice 110 can bore out to 270cc+ but I don't see the point as the cost and upkeep is not worth it, the 150cc upbored, cam, crank, clutch, and carb replacement will cost 10,000B already. I am getting done on Chiang Mai road, there's a shop there with a bunch of guys always working on bikes. The seem to specialize in monkey bikes and KSRs but I have seen a Mio or two there.

  11. Stickers.............they add at least 20 kmph. wink.png

Oh yeah, well Sumet stickers add at least 30 kmph. It's the special nano materials we use. Seriously though, I would go with KRS1's advice and get some light weight rollers with a modified variator first.

Awesome, my bike is going to be so fast!

I've seen those stickers on bikes and cars a lot lately. I don't understand it, they look rubbish.

It's stickerbombing and seems to have blown up, Sadly the amount of effort I have taken with mine has put me behind the trend curve. You can simply get vinyl wraps with different themes, where I have individually cut out stickers from graffiti books and trimmed away the white. I probably have 20hrs into it and 5-10 more to go. My work is about a B, too many wrinkles on the odd shaped parts for me to call it an A.

I also think it will look fantastic accenting my Chrome Yellow Honda Chaly. 150cc of garrish power.

  13. I know at Panyaden, at a primary level, if you bring your child there you choose which language will be the first and which will be their secondary.

Meaning if the student is going to be studying in English, they will study with others in an English as primary class and take a Thai as secondary class. The reverse is true if you enter on the Thai side of things. The student will also receive textbooks based in the language they choose. Furthermore, the students are not grouped by grade and age during their English an Thai lessons, but rather by proficiency, so there may be 3rd graders studying with 5th graders during that period and they will be moved depending on performance.

When I heard about that I liked it better than just 1 class having English or Thai at the same time, so all sorts of language levels were mixed together

  14. The school specifies Apple, really? Let me guess: Prem? Or Panyaden? wink.png

Anyway if it can be 4 years old then likely it doesn't need to be the Air model, but could be any Apple Macbook?

Panyaden does not require students to have computers, don't know of any N-P6 schools that require students to have a laptop.
