  1. Which is exactly what i did when I first used the site - just made a jpeg / pdf file containing the required answer. That was why I queried the blank file in the first place - not something I would have tried, personally.
  2. Thanks but I wouldn't say that's true, certainly not now. What you DO have to do is complete every stage of the application in order to progress it so if a file is called for, one must be supplied. None of the requirements were difficult to comply with Also, at the end, the system reviews the application and I think a blank document would fail.
  3. Damn good book that was, along with the sequel "The Fool is Back" IMO Essential reading for every single guy visiting Thailand!
  4. Only from time to time 🙄😆
  5. I'm intrigued..... Where do you enter a blank jpeg? On the eVisa site? I didn't do that and in January 2024 found the eVisa application straightforward enough - certainly easier than when it was first introduced when it WAS a mess. Also, fewer documents were required than in January 2023, so, IMO if they do it right, this could be the same as applying for a Tourist Visa but without the payment part. I hope it is but we hall have to wait and see.
  6. Quite the opposite. ESTA, ETIAS, ETA etc etc are all schemes for those who do not need a visa, i.e. travelling on visa waiver, visa exempt etc. You're quite correct!!!!!! I meant, and my post SHOULD have said: "Although it doesn't say, I would think that it would only be required from those who already need a visa DO NOT HOLD ANY SORT OF visa. It was in response to @marin and @Lacessit who were discussing people who already hold a retirement visa, and well done @sandyf for being the only one to spot that! I'll pay more attention in future 😮 UPDATE New thread here with hopefully more accurate information https://aseannow.com/topic/1337466-new-travel-rules-thailand’s-eta-to-shake-up-visa-free-visitors/
  7. Look out for the reviews on TripAdvisor 🙄
  8. Love it 😆 And the Thais do love their bureaucracy! I read many times here that the Visa Authorities (Government?) and Immigration (Police?) are different. So, quite honestly, if it's available (and particularly if it's free) I shall apply for an ETA next time I visit Thailand. I always had to apply for a visa so the 15 minutes it should take is neither here nor there. If not needed, no matter.
  9. There's a conspiracy that says "they" are 🙄
  10. Nothing its a totally different visa category. The OP says "The Thai ETA is required for travellers from nearly 100 visa-waiver countries, " Although it doesn't say, I would think that it would only be required from those who already need a visa. EG... UK PP holder on a 60 day holiday, used to need a tourist visa costing £30, now does not, but will need an ETA instead. UK Retiree on an "O" with extension and re-entry permit, I would hope (!) that nothing changes. As I say, that would be logical, but TIT.
  11. What could possibly go wrong ? The official e-visa website is actually easy enough to use....now! When it was first launched, it was a nightmare, but I last used it in Jan 2024 and there were fewer documents needed than the previous year. It was easy to navigate and I got my e-Visa in 5 days. If this ETA is as easy as that, and I still do not need a visa for 60 day trip, I'm in favour. We shall have to see, of course.
  12. I just completed this quiz. My Score 40/100 My Time 106 seconds
  13. Very much so! I've tested BlueStacks in a Windows desktop, and found it to not only be very resource hungry as you say, but it interfered with my A/V and other security software, and despite all that, was very slow even on a powerful desktop. To the OP: You're somewhat confusing as you start out by saying you don't want to use Samsung or Apple and then say to want to rid yourself of smartphones. I can't comment about Apple, being an Android man, but Samsung, (that I don't like either), is NOT the only game in town. I have a HMD Nokia 6.1 which has no "bloatware" and does the job splendidly. Other Android phones are available. Also, remember that here are very few public phones left these days if you're going to rely on them.
  14. Quite frankly, IF you accepted "treatment" of this sort from an unqualified muppet like this, you'd be too stupid to see anything wrong! IMO the idiots here are the customers, although idiocy is not an offence of course! 🙄
  15. I haven't seen Soi Diana Inn and Soi Honey since they became one-way but there are /were very few baht buses on either, as they're not on the "circuit". Certainly cars and trucks use(d) them. Bukhau, OTOH, is a different story.
  16. Yup! got it in 15!!! 😩 It's just screwy 😆
  17. From Judge Dread's Big Seven, many years ago: Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard, to get her poor doggy a bone When she bent down, the dog came around and gave her a bone of his own
  18. One Ball ache is pretty much like another! 😎
  19. ...... in the current affairs section of the forum. ⚡
  20. Now you're talking 👍
  21. Thanks - it seems to have turned out that basically nothing has changed for we pax. Hence an old saying, in UK anyway STORM IN A TEACUP | English meaning - Cambridge Dictionary Thanks @Lorry too
  22. So basically it's become a "storm in a teacup" - one article on the Web contradicted and superseded by the next one! The power of the Internet 😆 One thing i didn't understand in that article is the term "C&F passengers", which, according to my quick search means "Cost and Freight". That's a new one to me.
  23. IMO, any beer out of a can, as opposed to a bottle is bloody awful. And that includes those Aussie lagers which are so much better on draft.
  24. Thank you 👍 all the way through this thread, I was thinking that THEY had been abolished along with the one that's hard to find. Told you i was confused 🤔
  25. So, if that's the case (and hopefully you're correct) where do biz class passengers go on arrival to get priority through Immigration?
