Thailand Implements Financial Requirements for Tourist Visas in 2025
I haven't had a paper bill or account statement for 5 years or more. All online so a simple matter of downloading a couple of PDFs, or screen grabbing and making PDFs. Just redact the account number on bank accounts. Some years ago, when consulates offered Non-Imm O visas, I used to do exactly that. If you do happen to have paper bills, scan to PDFs. Having said that, as others have said, the amount is ridiculous and its all rather intrusive for no obvious benefit.

Indian Tourist Assaulted in Pattaya by Ride-Hailing Rider
Normally I'd agree with you there, but if the tourist did "allegedly grope the driver and reach into his trousers" and if he was drunk, then the driver is defending against a potential assault. Thing is, we don't actually know how much of a "grope" and how drunk the tourist was.

Can Fiction Capture Pattaya’s Bar Scene Honestly?
There were books called "Hello My Big, Big, Honey" and "A Killing Smile" both set in Bangkok which I read in the eighties. Similar ideas, so basing a new book in Pattaya would be a variation on a theme so to speak. Maybe @owenjones would like to read these for additional inspiration? But, whatever you do, do not name names - there will likely be both legal and physical repercussions if you do!

British Tourist Seriously Injured in Thai Waterfall Fall – Family Appeals for Help
It's a crapshoot. I've made 3 and got repaid but one was a medical issue and I had full doctor bills - it was less than 2,000 Baht. Another was for theft and I spent 4 hours in Pattaya Police station getting a report (!!) That was "only" 30,000 Baht and they still stung me for the excess (expected) and a minor deduction. One was for a new flight home in 2020 when lockdowns began almost worldwide, but I made it almost impossible for the insurance company to refuse it! That was still relatively small (approx. 91,000 Baht) AFAIK, insurance companies employ specialised people to dig deeply into the circumstances of every claim - the higher the claim, the deeper they dig. Theoretically, this is fair enough, but it does turn it into a crap shoot as you rightly say.

Grab Taxi Suvarnbhumi Airport to Pattaya....I got some news for you...
This is one occasion where Grab or Bolt are not cheaper than a known taxi company. No help for first-timers of course but those of us who travel to Thailand regularly, could do well to cultivate a relationship with such a firm. There are several posts on AN recommending taxi firms in Pattaya who will meet you at SUV / drive you back there on departure. I take the opportunity of advertising my friend Dar - no I do NOT get a "commission" before anyone asks!

Does the world need a pope?
Precisely! Thus making religion irrelevant.
-
Does the world need a pope?
Progress, by definition "development towards an improved or more advanced condition." Progress must, therefore be positive. The problem with accusing certain rules as being minor is that yes, they are minor to you (and me) but go towards forming the tenets of the whole religion.
-
Does the world need a pope?
Which is where you're (unwittingly) agreeing with my earlier post. The book is of unknown provenance and rather than development, I'd use the term modification - to something that was imaginary in the first place. The books referenced in other religions share similar characteristics.

Does the world need a pope?
Acceptable to whom? "Society" consists of a heterogenous collection of people. It's not a homogeneous "lump"

Does the world need a pope?
It's possible that some of the advice was relevant 5000 years ago, but is no longer. Example: Jews and Moslems are forbidden pork because it is "unclean" in their view. Well, 5000 years ago, when there were no refrigerators, eating unrefrigerated pork was possibly responsible for stomach ailments. In 2025, that is hardly the case. Catholics apparently eat fish on Fridays, or rather abstain from meat. Something to do with an imaginary person dying on a Friday. How is that relevant? Now the 10 commandments, taken in isolation, make some sense. Stealing and similar are covered by laws, such things as adultery are, surely, personal matters. @BangkokReady Surely, being liberal and progressive is progress, not as you imply a negative thing? Yes, my opinion is somewhat contentious but only to (respectfully) explain my refuting your opinion.

Does the world need a pope?
It's not what other people believe it's more how some of the "believers" force their beliefs on others. See @dinsdale post above. If people want to worship something, and don't harm others, then it's basically harmless, BUT look at fundamentalists of various faiths, taking religion and twisting it to cause dissent, violence and war. THERE's the harm.
-
Does the world need a pope?
Couldn't agree more!
-
Does the world need a pope?
Religion is certainly the biggest and longest-lasting conspiracy theory there's ever been. Books of unknown provenance, people conversing with their imaginary friends. It's all medieval nonsense.

Leaving food out
In my albeit limited experience if food cools too quickly, the tasted and texture seem to suffer. As bad is if you defrost food too quickly. To the original point, this is what I believe:. https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/stories/tips-and-tricks/can-you-put-hot-food-in-the-fridge
