  1. It could...but the way Thailand is going, that's one helluva gamble, don't you think?
  2. Case numbers (so-called) aren't that important where people are vaccinated - "cases" should be called "infected people" where they are asymptomatic. IE if everyone an infected person comes into contact with is vaccinated, none actually get sick. IMO that is where all of UK is heading...I'm pleased to say
  3. That would work...today. What if the currently amber country then imposes restrictions on arrivals from Thailand? As you rightly say "The rules changed recently" and, IMO, are likely to change again with little notice. I agree that if your journey is essential, that might be a plan, but it wouldn't make for a very relaxing holiday.
  4. Which is why at some stage, we (UK) have to say "Most of us are vaccinated, let's open up and live with Covid" As ever, let those among us who are vulnerable / worried avoid people or isolate in some form. Most Brits though want to take the chance...IMO.
  5. MODS: Might it be wise to close this thread in favour of the main one (posted by @webfact) on the subject:
  6. As one of the three, ???? sadly, I have to agree with that - I was surprised too. And the idea, mooted in this thread, of flying from Thailand to a "green list" country staying 10 days and then on to UK, is fraught too. What if your chosen "green list" country decides to block arrivals from Thailand? Back to before square one! ????
  7. So just a few days then? ???? Sarcastic.......moi?
  8. As I debated with you on the other thread, that is (hopefully) the logic.
  9. I do get that although I think it's more than that but haven't bothered to get the exact figure which I'm sure is out there. The principle is, it's a majority and rising daily. Similar response to @ukrules So far the vaxxes have been at least some use against all variants and at some stage we have to "bite the bullet" and say, "now we're vaccinated, let's treat Covid like any other disease". After all, those who are worried can continue to avoid people but with the vaxxes, those of us who are not concerned can get on with our lives...as in fact we are doing within UK. I suppose, shooting myself in the foot, that this measure might help life within UK stay on track, so I'm not blind to your thoughts....just frustrated!
  10. And that's what an efficient vaccination policy achieves. @ukrules I don't see it as reciprocity - just predictable. It was almost a "given" that Thailand would be added to the Red list - unfortunately! I still disagree with fully vaccinated people being affected, however - also, carrying Covid into a country that has vaccinated 85% of its people should NOT be seen as dangerous - here nature should now be allowed to take its course....not the case in Thailand. I, and most people I know here in UK don't care who we mix with now we're vaxxed - otherwise what would be the point of vaccination at all?
  11. Exactly. I've been banging that drum for over a year - the word "cases" is misused all over the world. It should, IMO, only be used to describe sick people: the rest should be described as "infected people". Of course that's only helpful when everyone is offered vaccination - when that happens, the number of "infected people" is largely irrelevant.
  12. I love the bit in that that says: "Each mRNA “package” is designed to be absorbed into your cell, but only 25% stay in your arm at the site of the injection. The other 75%, Hoffe says, are collected by your lymphatic system and fed into your circulation." Ummm....... yes....that's why it's a circulatory system genius.
  13. I would like to agree with you (really), but do you not think that perhaps the reporting in the UK was ever so slightly more accurate than that in Thailand? The amount of testing in UK has increased all the way through. Is it the same in Thailand? Having had my shots and watching Thailand from UK, I would so like to be planning a winter trip and yet..........
  14. Take a look at this topic Why can I never top up myAIS app using a visa debit or credit card - Mobile devices - ASEAN NOW formerly Thai Visa Forum I am using Ding very successfully from UK https://www.ding.com/ Multiple 10Baht topups each extending validity by 30 days. If you're with AIS you can login to see your balance here myAIS – Personalized to Delight I'm guessing that if you lost the SIM it would also work but you wouldn't be able to check it,
  15. I just thought your sarcasm deserved mine ???? I do agree everyone has the right to choose but countries have the right to choose who to let in. As I said elsewhere, this is not new, a Yellow Fever vax has been mandatory for certain countries since the 1980s to my knowledge, so why should we treat Covid differently in this regard? Like you I choose to be vaccinated - and have been. I have friends who won't and I've told them "Up to you but you may find your options are limited in the future" Again...their choice. Like you, i hope i don't infect them but if i do I shan't blame myself but I shall wish them a speedy recovery.
  16. Agree with you. YF has been mandatory for some destinations since the 1980s!!! I have 2 books of records from then when I was travelling round Asia / Africa for work - arms like pincushions! ???? For the life of me I cannot comprehend these idiot anti-vaxxers especially people of my advanced age who were all vaccinated as kids. Almost as if they read nothing but conspiracy theories - they actually anger me....despite the fact that I still do support people's right not to be injected against their will! Just keep away from me please! Oh, and @4MyEgo you said "Maybe they should have vaccinated and unvaccinated flights...lol " Better. (IMO)....."Maybe they should have vaccinated flights only....after all......it's still voluntary...(lol)" ????
  17. In the UK one fills in a questionnaire before getting vaxxed: allergies, existing conditions, meds etc. That, IMO, is how it should be done. And, as I said above, your choice.
  18. So is travel! Quite simple...get vaccinated or show medical exemption or stay at home...your CHOICE
  19. Well they have taste....this thread is about Russians, after all. ???? I'm rather excited about a new Thai restaurant opening up in my UK town..... can't wait to try it, although Thai food in UK is generally pretty bad but I live in hope. So pleased I've learned to cook! ????
  20. Bit like the people who blamed the Gates organisation for some children in India being disabled by their Polio vaccination. Fact Check: Conspiracy theory says Bill Gates-backed polio vaccine disabled 47,000 kids
  21. Pretty much like most other vaccines in history then? Rocket science it is NOT!
