2 days since we were tested so it does appear there is a lag in testing results being reported nationwide here. Wonder how long the prison testing takes before they are informed. How many have died in the prisons, that seems to be a statistical note not reported often.
Its probably not just slow test results. likely also poor systems for the data reporting from the laboratories and collation of the data for release. My gut has always said we are seeing data from testing 48 to 72 before they report it.

Covid related deaths 3032/372,215 infected = 0.81458297%.
If one calculated the above percentage into the population of 67 million there would be 54,577 deaths, about 10,000 more than the 2018 Influenza and Pneumonia figures back then.
Am I missing something here ?
Yes you are

Only 11 foreigners – all members of the media – will take the Bangkok Airways flight from Bangkok to Samui on Thursday, according to the Koh Samui Tourism Promotion Association.
Won’t help if they report back home the devastated and deserted tourist areas all boarded up and totally devoid of life.
I know there is still life in the Northern Areas were there is large expat community. But the tourist areas are in a very sad state ???? -

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is accelerating the setting up of isolation centres across the capital to ensure Covid-19 patients get immediate treatment and curb transmission of the virus.

Very long queue outside the Thupatemi Stadium in Pathum Thani's Lam Luk Ka district for free #COVID19 swab tests. 500 out of 1,500 tests to be conducted today will be of the Rapid Antigen method. All the 1,500 slots were fully booked up by 9am this morning. #Thailand
If they were negative before they arrived there, they will likely be positive in a few days. That kind of lining up and crowding just smacks of stupidity.

The Department of Disease Control on Sunday reported that 880 medical professionals had been infected by the virus of the around 700,000 cases since the start of the latest Covid-19 wave in April,
700,000 cases ?? Finally revealing the truth ? or just a typo

In 2019 Thailand only had around 4,500 nurses, what that figure is now? So considering it won't be all of them that have high risk contact on wards thats a pretty high number of infected nurses and RIP to those 7 that have died, unfortunately more to come
I think you may have interpreted it incorrectly. I believe it means 4.45 nurses per thousand population.

Very damming report on the situation in Thailand tonight on SBS News in Australia. Senior Doctor stating 2 doctors had died after being in ICU despite being fully vaccinated with Sinovac vaccine. Interviews with members of the public saying they were afraid and did not want the Sinovac vaccine and want the administration to purchase other vaccines.
They indicated it would likely take till the middle of next year to vaccinate the whole country.
It would be an understatement to say there are challenging times ahead for the people of Thailand.- 4

I can’t see the restrictions coming in to effect on Monday having any impact on these numbers. Why wait till Monday giving people the opportunity to move out to the provinces where facilities and resources to deal with large local outbreaks will be very limited.

Yesterday, I mentioned the decline in infections that happened in India as a possibility for Thailand. I can’t explain why case numbers have dropped in India, but maybe this wave will run its course before the vaccination levels reach the point of achieving herd immunity. A natural decline would still leave infection numbers at a high level, but far lower than at the peak.
Maybe because the virus has migrated out of the large cities into surrounding areas where there is little in the way of testing and medical facilities and official reporting.

PM
@prayutofficial
will reportedly consider more restrictions “similar to last year’s hard lockdown” that *could* include movement restrictions and a curfew amidst ever escalating #COVID19 infections in Friday’s
@oc_ccsa meeting.
UPDATE:
@thaimoph
is proposing movement restrictions, shelter-at-home and closing “non-essential” businesses to curb the escalating #COVID19 situation. The
@oc_ccsa , chaired by a quarantined-at-home PM
@prayutofficial , will make the final call as early as tomorrow
https://twitter.com/SaksithCNA/status/1412999257343156224
BREAKING: The Ministry of Public Health are proposing a “lockdown” similar to the restrictions we had in April 2020. You may be told to #StayHome and only leave for essential reasons such as to buy food, see a doctor or get vaccinated. The CCSA will meet soon to discuss this.

We only know that the proposed “lockdown” will be similar to what we had in April last year. Expect closure of non-essential businesses, a nightly curfew and a ban on interprovincial travel. This will most likely be for 2 weeks and in the high risk provinces and their neighbours.

2 weeks would do stuff all to help quash the delta variant. They will be back at square one a week later.

Good article here on vaccines from the Sydney Morning Herald relating to concerns about the Chinese vaccines. Interestingly it states that Pfizer efficacy drops from 92% for Alpha to 64% for delta.
Chile with a large vaccinated share of population with Chinese vaccines has seen a significant rise in hospitalization and death with the spread of Delta and have gone back into full lockdown.- 1

Given the ongoing reports that people are being refused testing due to lack of available beds. I think it’s fair to say the case numbers are now utterly meaningless and do not represent a true reflection of the current situation.

I don’t recall anyone saying that most do need to go to hospital or that we are not allowed to mention it. But unfortunately a significant number do require hospitalization.. That number is already putting pressure on the health system particularly ICU capacity. If that number continues to increase it won’t be just Covid patients struggling to get treatment and dying.
Only the narrow minded think is just about number of deaths and fail to see the bigger picture and long term consequences.- 10

My statement is based on conclusions yesterday, probably by qualified experts, not what I'm thinking.
But this is then my speculation: I don't think you can compare India and transmission of virus with countries with just some level of precautions, Indian seems to be beyond control, whilst both Europe and Thailand actually are quite well controlled.
The migrant worker exodus from Dark Red-zoned Bangkok in the recent news stories is not that different from the European football fan-exodus, which actually have caused experts Delta-variant alarm in today's news from Europe.
I beg to differ on many of the above comments. As previously started the expert opinions I have researched say the evidence is not conclusive.
Making statements that delta is far less deadly without conclusive evidence may lull people into a false sense of security which in itself could prove to be deadly.
And I would hardly say Thailand and Europe have the situation under control. -

Well, here it is. From Director of National Vaccine Institute: AstraZeneca has informed it will NOT be able to deliver 10 million doses per month to Thailand for July and August. SBS production capacity of AZ is 16 million per month and just 5-6 million doses will go to Thailand.

No problem. China will come to the rescue with more delta busting Sinocrap.

They did 77000 tests in Sydney yesterday a population of 5 million. Thailand probably did the same number for the whole country.
