  1. I used Mailboxes, Etc. for years until the office I used closed, then I switched to Post Net. I've got a good relationship with the Owners, and they are excellent and do virtually anything I ask. Typically, they send the non-junk mail (I trust them to make that determination) to me monthly via FedEx or DHL (premium service was chosen by me). This includes credit cards. I've been doing this for 25 years and it works very well for me. It maintains a USA address for me. This coupled with a Skype local phone number nearly makes me a resident Houstonian! I know quite a few people using "Relatives" and I've found my paid service is much more reliable. More expensive, I admit, but meet's my needs and requirements perfectly.
  2. Thanks for the information. I just successfully registered and the promo code definitely Zero'd the charge.
  3. FWIW, I've been in Thailand for a longtime. Despite what all the cynics here think, there are a lot of good, genuine people here. Personally, I think she wants to help you experience the event. She may want more deep inside but doesn't expect more. I've always found Loy Krathong a very personal event and is a simple way to let one's troubles float away. She'll enjoy a little time with you and be happy if you mutually enjoy the time. Personally, I do not believe every Thai woman is out to get you and / or your money. Just to have a foreign friend is more than enough.
  4. Too many to mention. Web search "THANKSGIVING DINNERS In Chiang Mai – 23rd November 2023" and an amazing number of possibilities pop up. Most major farang holiday dinners are available at most major hotels in Thailand.
  5. Wouldn't at least a few words supporting the notion of the headline be useful. Articles are usually poor here, but this one exceeds normal level of inadequacy.
  6. For what it's worth, I did a simple Google search: "bee keeping supplies in Thailand" and many results popped up, including in Bangkok.
  7. For me, retirement is my preference. Solely due to me and only me having control over my extension. Marriage can allow wife to have influence on my extension if she decided to do so.

  9. How can a Blue Book be your residence certificate when you, a foreigner, cannot be listed in it?
  10. For clarity, you must pay home country income tax on money earned in Thailand, or anywhere else outside your home country? I've always believed there are only 2 countries in the world that make their citizens pay tax on money earned outside of their home country, one of them being the US.
  11. I guess you like paying twice the price. Metered taxis are supposed to use the meter by law.
  12. The "Swim Ear" product you mention is quite popular in the States. I (and many others) have found that if you mix up equal parts of Hydrogen Peroxide and Rubbing Alcohol, it very effective in cleaning and drying if you use after every swim. Put a couple drops in each ear (one at a time of course) and drain after bubbling stops. You'll have clean ears from the HP and dry ears from the Alcohol.
  13. I used Crown and they were excellent. Door to door service. 14. He certainly could release the information himself or approve the hospital to do it and hold them harmless.
  15. Very different experiences you and I have had. I've had a lot of work done around the house, always performed my due diligence and routinely monitored and supervised their work. I've had no significant issues and reasonably well done work.
  16. FWIW, from my personal experience with a friend and her 50/50 son, being educated in a private school in Bangkok, the Thai kids and even the Thai teachers to some degree, have a problem with 50/50s and there is a strong tendency to discriminate against them and harass them. Other countries seem to handle this better. Unfortunately, this leads to a lot of hard feelings and embarrassment. Of course, the same can happen anywhere but seems excessive here. He's a top student, which probably aggravates the situation.
  17. What does the fact that the 2 people were trans have any bearing on this story. It's repeated over and over and frankly shouldn't even have been mentioned!
  18. Hate to be a downer but based on my experience and everyone I know with it, simply accept it and be prepared to live with it. Save your money and don't believe any of the miracle cures out there, none of them work, again, based on my wasted money and experience.
  19. FWIW: My BB ATM card only works in BB ATM's...
  20. Personally, I think DMK is exceptionally easy to get to, in and out of. Also, it's a much shorter trip then to go all the way out to Suvarnabhumi.
