  1. I know this won't go over very well here, and although I do agree with many of the member comments to some degree, however, over my many years here I have met many good cops. They aren't all bad or on the take. Many are, I know, but they do do some things correctly and fairly. That's all I got to say! Let the flack fly!!
  2. Skype routes the cal over the internet to the nearest local land line provider and you only pay for the local call, extremely cheap. Cents, not dollars, if anything at all....
  3. Just a minor addition, all documents must be no older than 30 days from time of making new license. I wound up doing a couple of them a second time because I was too slow in getting them the first time. BTW, I got my residence certificate 1 hour after requesting it. This was at the one stop shop however.
  4. Sorry for my ignorance, but I have no idea what an Art Test is... Do you mean an ATK Test?
  5. Certainly, I think about them, but I don't dwell on them. I too am down pretty much to just me. Entire immediate family is gone and reasonably sure all the aunts and uncles are gone also. The good news is that I'm still kicking! Life's too short to dwell on our losses.
  6. There is some localized road flooding following a heavy rain, but nothing other than that yet.
  7. My understanding is a bit different, the self-administration of the test and waiting for test result is all done under the surveillance of a 3rd party administrator, usually online. So, your cost is significantly higher than the standard ATK test as you're paying for the time of the test monitor, but still self-administered at home.
  8. It was, and still is 700 Baht departure tax. Since it was built into the ticket cost people have forgotten or don't know they are paying it. Same will happen to the entry tax.
  9. Each to their own. Who am I to tell anybody what to do with their own body? Personally, I don't mind them. If you don't like them, wish her a good life and move on to the next one....
  10. I'd recommend using a good quality sealer first. They are designed to prevent bleed through. Them prime and finish coat as usual. I used to paint professionally and a good sealer will stop crayon, magic marker and all sorts of nasty stuff from bleeding through. Here's a quick link to the paint guru site you might find helpful: Stain Stoppers: Primers That Block Bleed-Through - Paint Gurus (typepad.com) Good luck!
  11. My BB atm debit visa card has never been refused. Looks like any visa card. You can't tell it's a debit card by looking at it.
  12. Just had to make a comment on how a legitimate question about the legalities of legally importing meat into Thailand solicited so many responses on how to smuggle meat into Thailand...
  13. You can live right next to a power plant, however that has absolutely no bearing on where you get your power from. The generated power goes into the national grid and all generation is used to calculate the price to the consumer.
  14. There's quite a bit of postal bashing going on here and I simply don't understand it. Maybe I've just been lucky, but the post office delivers at least twice a day, 7 days a week to my home. Additionally I've never sent anything that wasn't delivered as promised and nothing is extremely delayed coming to me. I think the Thai Post Office does and exceptionally good job.
  15. It will never work, but the good news is inside of a year the paint will be gone, never to be repainted again.... Up to now the only time anyone was punished for violating the crosswalk was when somebody got run over and that will not change.
  16. Simply regarding fire safety in general, my office building, some 31 floors, has had all but one ground floor doors mechanically blocked and closed for well over a year. One door for ingress and one door for egress. Not sure how a building could ever be cleared in the event of a fire through one door. I'm quite confident this was not only my building doing this. Just saying......
  17. I just renewed my 5 year license and only residence document required was the certificate of residence that I got at immigration, spent an hour at immigration, not bad.
  18. Tramadol is indeed available OTC in Thailand. In the form of ULTRACET, 37.5 mg tramadol HCL and 325 mg paracetamol. You may have to sign a non-abuse statement and not all pharmacies carry it, but it is available OTC.
  19. Here's the one I buy from Lazada: Doctor's Best, Vitamin D3, 125 mcg (5000 IU) x 180 Softgels | Lazada.co.th Many many other choices available. Microsoft Edge.lnk
