Pink Id card for foreigners
paulbrow replied to Enquiry123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Mine was a piece of cake. My Thai wife handled it all, I simply signed where I was told to sign and got my picture taken when directed. Yellow book for my (wife's) house and Pink ID took about 2 hours at the Laksi ampur office start to finish. -
Been there since 2002, so must be doing something right.

I must be the luckiest guy in Thailand when it comes to shopping with Lazada. I buy from Lazada often, several times a week, every week. Granted there is an occasional glitch and certainly some dishonest vendors, but I'd put my order success rate with Lazada at at least 95%. I do try to use vendors I've used in the past and had no problems. And yes, you have to watch the prices as some vendors are 100% higher priced than some others. All in all, I'm very happy with Lazada from all aspects.

Yet another article that essentially tells you nothing useful and only raises questions.....

I have enough to help him

Excellent link. Thank you for some factual information. -
Personally the "Land Bridge" makes no sense to me. However, a canal, call it "The Thailand Canal", seems like it would be very useful, a good income generator and would certainly save ships many miles.

For me the model year is much more relevant than the sale year. After all, it's quite possible to buy a 2022 model year car in 2024. And if you go looking for new or replacement parts for your 2024 car, you're going to be very disappointed when the don't fit/work. Also, the infamous Blue Book deals with model year. The only point in the sale year is if you're trying to convince somebody to buy it based on sale year.

Thailand police, and ridiculous statements
paulbrow replied to CanadaSam's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I don't agree with that. If he turned left from the right hand lane (where there are 2 lanes) across her lane, he used the lanes improperly. She could have been going the same speed as him, not overtaking in the left lane, then she did nothing wrong. I still remember my first driving test video here, keep left, keep left, keep left!! -
I've had hundreds of positive experiences with Lazada. There have been a few issues over the years, probably less than half a dozen and all were vendor issues not Lazada issues. I did get pissed at Lazada once as I had to take the returned item to their pickup center. They refused to pick it up from me. Again the vendor sent the wrong item, Yeah, I know I'm lazy.

The 2 seem fairly comparable and reliable. I tend to use surface mail for purchases, nothing terribly expensive mind you, a couple hundred $ at the most. Have never had one go astray or missing. Maybe just sheer luck. Mail parcels tend to always surprise me on how quickly they get here. And I do have things sent directly to my home, even have it as my address with the SSA. I guess I've been lucky over the years. It often bemuses me to read some of the tales here, mostly how complicated the folks seem make the simple issue of sending/receiving mail from home. Wishing you all a very merry Christmas (or other applicable holiday) and a Happy New Year!

I hate condensed milk in most applications!

Yes, correct, Houston. I think I pay about $90/year for address and box. FedEx and DHL run about $50 for an International Envelope, can fit a lot of mail. Naturally this can be cheaper by USPS, I simply prefer the premium services. Occasionally, maybe 10% of the time, some businesses have an issue with the commercial location, but I've always been able to work around it. After doing this for 25 years I've gotten pretty good at it. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions.

What will you be giving the Wife or Partner for Christmas?
paulbrow replied to Keeps's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Hmmmm... Monday December 25, 2023, same as Monday December 18, 2023, normal work day. Pretty sure I won't get anything beyond my normal salary for the day. TIT -
I used Mailboxes, Etc. for years until the office I used closed, then I switched to Post Net. I've got a good relationship with the Owners, and they are excellent and do virtually anything I ask. Typically, they send the non-junk mail (I trust them to make that determination) to me monthly via FedEx or DHL (premium service was chosen by me). This includes credit cards. I've been doing this for 25 years and it works very well for me. It maintains a USA address for me. This coupled with a Skype local phone number nearly makes me a resident Houstonian! I know quite a few people using "Relatives" and I've found my paid service is much more reliable. More expensive, I admit, but meet's my needs and requirements perfectly.

Russian Woman Arrested at Phuket Airport For Alleged Fraud
paulbrow replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Fairly useless article ala in all. -
FWIW, I've been in Thailand for a longtime. Despite what all the cynics here think, there are a lot of good, genuine people here. Personally, I think she wants to help you experience the event. She may want more deep inside but doesn't expect more. I've always found Loy Krathong a very personal event and is a simple way to let one's troubles float away. She'll enjoy a little time with you and be happy if you mutually enjoy the time. Personally, I do not believe every Thai woman is out to get you and / or your money. Just to have a foreign friend is more than enough.

Are there many/any venues offering Thanksgiving dinner, next week?
paulbrow replied to passingas's topic in Chiang Mai
Too many to mention. Web search "THANKSGIVING DINNERS In Chiang Mai – 23rd November 2023" and an amazing number of possibilities pop up. Most major farang holiday dinners are available at most major hotels in Thailand. -
Chinese tourists are returning - but not to Thailand
paulbrow replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Wouldn't at least a few words supporting the notion of the headline be useful. Articles are usually poor here, but this one exceeds normal level of inadequacy. -
For what it's worth, I did a simple Google search: "bee keeping supplies in Thailand" and many results popped up, including in Bangkok.
