At 73 I'm quite content. I've done virtually everything I've wanted to do, seen what I've wanted to see, and been where I wanted to go. Frankly don't want or crave 10+ hours on an airplane anymore, so content to simply enjoy my family and Thailand. Still working full time simply because I enjoy working and I'm not sure what I'd do with all my time if I didn't work. Money isn't an issue, I don't need to scrimp and save, I buy what I want and do what I want to do. As far as I'm concerned, I'm living the dream life, alive and well in Thailand and don't miss a thing from my PR, the USofA. Haven't been back there in many years and don't see a need to rush back anytime soon, if ever. I'm not anticipating EoL, know it will come when it comes. Not waiting for nor embracing it.

This thread amazes me. If it had been about Thais being dupped, everyone here would be busy bashing the Thais for stupidity! But this is about Americans being dupped (yes, I'm American) and no body mentions how stupid the Americans were! The difference in responses stupefies me. And that's my 2 cents worth....

This is so common. It takes 2 minutes to do the TM30 online, so why not just do it every time you come back, required or not. Biggest effort was getting my wife's home in the system. After that a piece of cake.

Originally searched (google) for something, Lazada came up, ordered what I wanted, got it, was happy and simply continue to use them. Have encountered no unresolvable issues, basically satisfied with the experience and service. Personally, have had no need to set up an account elsewhere, so continue to use Lazada. Just for my 2 cents worth, vaping got me off a 50 yearlong smoking habit. Once I eliminated cigarettes, my ability to breath improved dramatically. The vaping with only nicotine entering my lungs improved my ability to breath almost immediately. I was able to quit vaping much more easily than any of my repeated attempts to stop cigarettes. Of course, this was spurred on by Thailand making it very difficult to obtain my vaping products. Today my respiratory health is tremendously improved and personally I owe it all to vaping. Once Thailand recognizes the number of income streams that vaping could establish for the Kingdom, I fully expect vaping will be legalized.

I know quite a few that speak and read/write Thai, so I'm not sure what your point is.

FWIW, in my opinion, it has nothing to do with their salaries or already getting paid, it has to do with the level of service I receive. A few baht can equal significant differences in the level of service and timing of receiving requests. Fortunately, I can afford to leave decent tips that have essentially no effect on my lifestyle but have a significant effect on a housekeeper's lifestyle. My Thai wife originally argued with me about tipping, however, now after over 20 years she has learned that a reasonable tip translates into a tremendous improvement in treatment received from the staff. Now she has become a reasonable tipper herself and has moved beyond the 20 baht tip! BTW, tipping at the end of a stay has no positive effect on the quality of service received during the stay. The other benefit generally received is a decent relationship (friendship) established.
