I had printed off Thai regulations re customs duties, in both English and Thai. When I went to collect the boxes, I was "informed" I had to pay 20,000 baht. No reason wa given. I refused, and pointed out the regulations that I did not, given my Visa status applying. I then asked to speak to the senior officer at Customs. Lovely fat ,gross female, with a magnificent moustache.
She looked through all paperwork, grunted, and demanded I pay 40,000 baht. I asked to borrow her cigarette lighter, have my 9 boxes placed in vacant land nearby, as I intended to burn the lot, rather than they get their thieving hands on them. I was promptly offered discount price of 10,000 baht. In disgust threw the money at fatty. No receipt offered or given. Went downstairs to find some female officer tearing my boxes apart. I suggested to her she desist, or I would remove her head from her shoulders. She demanded 3000 baht. I threw 2000 at her feet, and while she was grovelling around on the ground picking it up, gave her a free slime ball on her head ..I was rather p....d off by this time. Since that date, my opinion of Thai officialdom has deteriorated even further. So go to it, bring lots of money, you will need it.
Sure you did! ????????????????????????

Get her to take out a mortgage, keep your money in the bank for your retirement VISA extensions, or buy an Elite VISA with it.
Just give me one sensible factor that makes it better to take a loan on something you have the money to buy and therefore pay extra interest?

Road safety is popular TVF topic.
Maybe this interesting for some member.
It should not be interesting, but unfortunately it´s is for some. Tragic is a better description.

I guess they can refute whatever they want. History has always told, that when the people had enough governments crumble.

Warning people they would need to follow the guidelines, Jonathan Van-Tam said: "We have got to start taking this very seriously again".
"If we’re not careful we’re going to have a bumpy ride, people have relaxed too much," he said.
Only the thought about the need to say a thing like this to their people baffles me. And that after 6 month and already many deaths. I guess it´s like some countries can do this, and some just lacks the possibility. Thailand can, UK and a couple of others can´t.

Maybe it is just me but this sounds very suspicious to me .
Yes it´s just you, and a few more looking at the likes. ???? What is suspicious? He and his friends are some of the people that entered Thailand on a tourist visa when that was possible, have been riding out the pandemic in Thailand. As he entered with a tourist visa, he is still seen as being on amnesty on the same.

Yep, not strange at all. Just read above. They have been writing a lot about such situations in the news lately. ????

Should be the absolutely normal way and not needed to be mentioned.
Yes, according to yours and my standards. However, that was very long time ago. Today you just have to look at where you are in the world, and take it from there.

Just try to be better and not degrade every single thread you post in into an argument.
I can’t recall reading a thread in which you have contribute where you have not use an argumentative tone and pick on irrelevant points, sidetracking the thread and generally destroying any reasonable discussion.
Take a step back and look at yourself, you are not contributing towards threads, you are ruining almost every single thread I see you post in.
So if I am argumentative, and you are???? Whatever you wish to call it. ???? You almost always have a different opinion, and that´s ok and accepted. Your opinion is that I am ruining every thread and not contributing. Whenever are you going to stop, dear Mr. Richard? Do you realize that you are focused on me, and feel the need to have an argument with me, who ever I quote. That´s called an obsession. Also, you are focusing on me, and are not very relevant to the thread either. Better you take a step back instead, and look at yourself. If you have problems, just ignore me comments and posts.

A typo is when it was done without intent. It may have been done intentionally but in error. I constantly see A.M. and P.M. misused here, such as 'OPEN 12 A.M.-12 P.M.' Best to double check those flight reservations too.
Oh, sorry that I do not live up to your ideal for the use of the word. Try to be better next time.

Yeah. Outrageous they don't build hospitals at the base of every waterfall.
What in the world prompted such an idiotic remark? What is outrageous with that, it´s just not possible?

As you describe in point 2, you have problem going out during the pandemic. That must mean you have someone helping you already, because you have to buy food or groceries, right. How would it be to send that person with the letter at the same time?

Is this something you would recommend for a newbie on a “big” bike?
Sure, the only thing that springs to mind is "wrooom, wrooom & a lot of broken bones"
So, my take on this is that the possibility of dying of Covid-19 was not enough for you.

I could see it taking time to get to park, especially in the middle of the night. I haven't been to that national park, so can't speak to nearness of potential rescuers. Victim wasn't going anywhere. Rescue teams just hang around cop shops day and night?
No reason to get snarky about North Pole business. Sheesh
Like Will Rogers said "I only know what I read in the papers". It's not my job to proofread for errors
You still don´t get it. It was not in the night.

I think yes it does as we want to know if it was a stream full and overlapping the entire body and therefore washing off all the blood or only half full and not overlapping the body and not washing off all the blood. ????????????
He is still dead, right? Or are you calling Harry Potter for a good spell and the resurrection stone. With a comment like that, it actually looks like you would be more ready for the invisibility cloak. ????

"...foreign tourist fell from the cliff at around 12.50am." That would be after midnight, right?
Perhaps mistook am with pm. If not a mistake, what the heck would a group of tourists be doing at that hour at that location? Drunk?
Of course it´s a typo. As you can see it stands 2,20 pm as arrival time. You really think it took over 12 hour to get to him? Did you also read that he fell at the North Pole?

I am going to duplicate this post answer, as it applies to two people I read on this forum. You are so aloof and cock sure of yourselves, until... you wake up and go to the ATM and your balance is 1000Baht. You just have not met the scammers of ATMs here yet. Be very careful.
Yep, just go to right and put yourself in the line for the membership of The Paranoia Club Thailand. Please to not complain of the long line. It seems to be a popular club for the members of TV. ????
So, fear mongering gets you nowhere.

Yes, please! I want to hear about the medical bill he got after behaving like a dork, throwing money and dropping a slime ball on a customs officers head.
