I don't know where you fly from but every person I know flying from the UK has been asked for an onward flight ticket.

You are correct in that it can be fixed with an escalation to a supervisor & you signing a release form but for the sake of $14 I'd rather not have the hassle.

I agree an onward flight will most likely be checked for but what I said was they've not been asking for a flight out within 30 days since the visa exemption duration was increased, as wpcoe claimed.  They've been looking for a flight out within 45 days.

If I can get past the hurdle at the airport when the airline carrying me to Thailand insists on seeing a flight out of Thailand within 30 days, that would be fine.

They've not been asking for that during the period when visa exempt entry has been increased to 45 days.  If  a checkin agent has asked then it would be soon be fixed on escalation

A workaround for the OP to download and install it may be setting a UK VPN on his PC or laptop, logging into his Google account, finding the NW banking app in the Play Store and selecting which device it should be installed on if his phone shows in the menu of available devices. Then Google will do an OTA installation.

Geolocking is nothing to do with IP address but the home country of your Google Account as mentioned upthread, so a VPN will have no effect on its accessibility

E.g. Using made up figures to make the maths easier...

       - Pension Pot £1,000,000

       - Income if take no Lump Sump - £40,000pa

       - Tax Payable - £5,486 (20% of £40,000-£12570 PTA)

       - 25% Lump Sum £250,000

       - Income PA - £32,000pa

       - Tax Payable - £3,886 (20% of £32,000-£12570 PTA)

       - Tax Saving £1,600pa

Not quite if you work on the premise that if you take no up front lump sum but take the tax free amount as part of your regular income (based on these figures) would give you:

    Income £40,000

Taxable Income £30,000 (25% or £10,000 is tax free)

    Tax Payable £3,486 (20% of £30,000 -£12,4570 PTA)

Has anyone been able to download the Nationwides UK Phone banking app in Thailand.

It may be geolocked and therefore not accessible using a Thailand based account.  You can create another account based in the UK, login and download, or else download from somewhere other than the Play Store.  I found this location - it's an older version but updates will process regardless of the geolock.

Have done as much research as I can on this & can find no evidence that if you don't take your 25% tax free lump sum you can take your Defined Benefit (Final Salary) Pension income at 1st 25% tax free so can only think that people are talking about Defined Contributions or Draw Down income type pensions.

I was definitely referring to DC type pensions but a quick google search threw up this article which suggests it's also true for DB pensions, although not so simplistic and different rules may apply across different providers.

MY Nationwide Flex account DOES NOT have free International transfers.

As far as I know, neither does Halifax. Nationwide Charge is £20 and Halifax is £9.50.

He/she meant foreign currency transactions (counter withdrawals in this case) not transfers, which with the right card is true.

Similar experience with Qatar....booked the Q-Suite for me and the missus.......sorry we changed planes....no Q-Suite....suck it up.

Qatar will give you a free change if they change away from a Qsuite aircraft.  Pic is from a few years ago but it's still the case today, however they make so many changes it's often difficult to time it right and be sure of a Qsuite.

. . . . and good luck talking to a huma, only machines and no phone number, while in Bkk i could chat to a human

here in Oz only to a machine in GB, have tried to use VPN to contact Thailand AirAsia but no luck only the UK bot is talking to me, pity, because i like

AirAsia when they don't play games like that.

To talk to a human on Air Asia live chat rather than the bot.

    Type "Change email" to bot.

Ignore responses until you see a "Talk to all star" button.  Click on the button.

    Enter requested details.

You'll be put in the queue for a human.
