Pheu Thai closing in on a House majority, Senate an open question
HaoleBoy replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
PTP will get the PM slot but then it will be a sh*t show when the fighting starts for the cabinet positions. Prawit may not get a cabinet slot, but he's been assured his brother will (keep the corruption in the family). Does PTP really think all the junta in their coalition will let them makechanges to the military? Maybe they'll let some small modifications go through, but nothing substantial. And all the family monopolies / duopolies won't change so the younger generation gets screwed again (until the OLD dinasoars die). And all this just so PTP will get Thaksin back .... -
Pheu Thai constrained by “political mathematics”

Prime minister fast-tracks aid for firework warehouse blast victims

Police Warn Public Cyberbullying Can Lead To Penalty
HaoleBoy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The fragile egos of these arrogant junta Senators! Sometimes you get what you reap ... now stop the whining. -
If you believed your last sentence then why would the Police General MP even have to open his mouth? His party is worthless with only 1 MP in it. Pitha has given up more than the Senators, Elite Establishment and the military. The others have given up nothing. The Senators, military and the Establishment have such fragile egos yet act with such arrogance!

Retirement Visa Rule Changes
HaoleBoy replied to SailingHome's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Chiang Mai Immigration I had a problem with my 800,000 THB in the bank for Visa renewal. I used a K-Bank app and it withdrew money from my 800K Visa acct thus I was under 800K for 4 days (800 THB). These 4 days were during the last month before renewal. Immigration Officer told me if I had another account that did not go under 2,000 THB I could get another letter from the bank for this account and 1 yr statement from the bank. I presented 2 letters from the bank (validating the bank acct was mine and active) and a yearly statement from both accounts. IO accepted these and they gave me my 1 yr Visa (earlier this week). -
Thai business leaders express concern over political instability
HaoleBoy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"He is apprehensive that these demonstrations could inadvertently hamper the nation’s stride towards economic recovery." Business leaders should put the blame where it belongs, not on MFP/Pitha. Put it on the junta Senators, the military, and the Establishment HI-SOs for all the games they have played to keep MFP / Pitha out. -
MFP / Pitha got 38% and then formed a coalition. The coalition wrote a MoU with NO lese-majeste in it. Lese-majeste changes are MFP only. The junta Senators used the "lese-majeste" law amendment as a smoke screen to cover the real reasons. The coalition support, of 68% (of voting Thais), was for the MoU they wrote which stated: - remove alcohol duopoly held by the rich families - eliminate the military from ever being in politics again - reduce the military size (# of generals) - stop conscription - reduce / remove the military perks (golf courses and such)

I asked this on twitter to a couple of Thai political people. What still isn't clear is does the next PM have sway over who gets nominated or not.

Online calls for boycott of senators’ businesses top trending overnight
HaoleBoy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Funny math guy ... You trying to make your numbers work out to your benefit or your argument??? I corrected you before ... MFP got 38% of the vote. You use total Thai's of voting age, but only 70% of those actually voted - 37,987,549 . MFP got 38.00% PTP got 28.90% In this case you can add %s thus 66.90% voted for MFP and PTP. -

You with the funny math again? Combine MFP and PTP people and that is over 70% of people that voted. That just might be enough to show a drop in earnings. There are many that did not vote that still side with MFP and PTP as well. -

Online calls for boycott of senators’ businesses top trending overnight
HaoleBoy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The junta Senators all talk about the lese-majeste law as reason for not voting (or abstaining) for MFP PM candidate Pitha, but maybe this CEO has the real reason. They are afraid of losing their military jobs and priveledges.- 105 replies

Outgoing Thai PM found guilty of neglect of duty over PM2.5 pollution

Why isn't the Chiang Mai Governor involved in this as well? He sure didn't speak out against the junta Gov about the bad air quality this year. -
