Something I tried and it did work: feed a dog a valium (the ol' stuffed meatball again), it'll not just sedate the dog, it'll change it's personality from then on, mellow them out.  This is why people who train attack dogs make it a high priority to train them to eat only from the owners.

Will work well but dog will be even worse when coming down from the Vallium. It'll just want more and more. Is it really a good idea to get all the soi dogs, in your area, addicted to Vallium?

My advice to OP: (1) track down owner; (2) get neighbors in area on your side, (3) talk to police, (4) walk bike past dog (5) use food to distract/befriend dog.

    1. Soi dogs rarely have an owner.

    2. Good luck with Thai neighbours.

    3. Always a good idea, a very sociable lot when you get to know them. Need to be proficient in Thai though. Don't expect them to help you with the dog though. I find that they're usually more frightened of dogs than you are and not in their job description.

    4. Yes, it makes it easier for them to sink their teeth into your leg.

    5. Ever heard of "biting the hand that feeds you"?

Better castrating the dogs they are the most aggressive, except where pups and food are in the mix.

The dog won't be happy, would you be if someone cut your nuts off?

Castrate a soi dog and the likelihood is that it'll chew your nuts off next time it sees you. I would.

Just making a bad situation a whole lot worse.

There is extraordinary racist arrogance from some TV posters on this thread criticising visitors from India, Russia,  China as though the writers are somehow superior,  better tourists. I suspect many have racist attitudes towards Thais. There has always been a large Arab and Iranian presence in Pattaya for over a decade.  The returning Russian are mainly families with kids. The Indians are a mixed bunch both Loso and Hiso. Which bunch you meet reflects where you hang out. This bunch are happy go lucky polite economy travellers.

Just doing their thing happy to be on holiday.

"Economy travellers" that'll be about right. French connection Hotel, Pratumnak. 500 baht/night, no restaurant, eat on the floor in your room with everyone else staying in that room. 90% Indian guests.

Guest friendly. BYO team ladyboy and a good time will be had by all.

Notice that they are having a good time without women or even a single beer. Not even a bottle of water with 4 straws in sight. Popular with Indians because there's a nearby 7/11.

Does anyone think in their home country, a foreigner would get exactly the same freedom of movement and absence of reporting as them?

    In the UK, yes.

Remind me never to relocate to Chiang Mai. Sounds like hell, what with the pollution, gestapo immigration and whingeing expats, who would want to live there?

I live in Pattaya, much more chilled. I think I completed a TM30 or could be TM28 when I moved house. Otherwise, even though I go abroad a couple of times per year and travel to other provinces regularly, I've never filed a TM30. As for keeping one in my passport, I'm pretty sure that's not a requirement.

90 day reports take a couple of minutes. Mine was due last Friday, I think. I'll pop in some time this week and do it then off to lunch at a nice restaurant nearby.

This is my home, I'm not a guest here or an alien. I have a Thai wife, kid, car, house, DL, ID card and am made to feel very welcome by every Thai I meet, including Immigration Officers. No one has ever told me to go home (except the odd ringpiece on TV).

Come to Pattaya, it's Buddha's country.

    Well don't go then.

OK thanks for the advice, helpful as always. Actually, I'd kinda decided that myself.

Just thought that others might want to see the food that some rate as the best breakfast in Pattaya. I was seriously thinking of giving it a try which is why I clicked on your link. Lucky escape. Thanks again.

BTW. Still not sure of the exact location of Tinnies. On or near Tappraya, close to Pratumnak is the best I can do.

Yes, and again yes it was ignored at the national level, the same as at the local level. All in the name of racial, or should that be religious harmony.

Even at the cost of turning a blind eye to the sexploitation of hundreds or should that be thousand of vulnerable non Muslim girls, who in the main came from the poorer sections of the community.

All very true but Tommy Islam played no part in exposing and bringing these people to justice. He just jumped on the bandwagon and used the plight of these children to forward his agenda for stirring up racial hatred in the UK.

I think that it's your lugholes that are blocked with sand. There are always a few bigots in any group but you always generalize far too much, labeling indiscriminately in the process.

Mine aren't blocked with sand. I just need to look at the Tommy Islam thread and his supporters (most Brexit supporters in this thread), to know the cut of their cloth for Brexit supporters on TVF.

UK changed many of our units when we joined the EU (or EEC as it was then).

It'll be interesting to see if we go back once we finally manage to leave.  Somehow I doubt it..!!

Officially yes but it's common practice to still use the old units. I still ask for 5lb of potatoes in my greengrocers. Bathroom scales still have the option st/lb or kilos. Horse races still use furlongs. PSI is still used widely, what the hell's a pascal?

    really ?

Yes. There are quite a few indicators as to whether they are fake or genuine. My preferred method is to read the serial number on the left arm. Pop the number into google and it will return with a number of criteria. Model, lens type colour etc. Fakes invariably either don't have the serial number ot it's random and doesn't match the glasses in your hand.

Detail basic dimension and sunglasses specification.
    For Example: RB2140F-901.
    RB2140F : Wayfarer / Ray-Ban sunglasses code.
    F: Fitting for Asian Market.
    901 : color green
    52–20 : size
    150 : temple
    3N : non-polarized
    (3P : polarized)

A quick clue, in Thailand, is the case. Always sold with the correct case for the model and Ray Ban lens cleaning cloth. In Thailand, often the case is offered separately and no lens cleaning cloth - fake.

The problem is, sure if you go to Siam Paragon or something similar, I am sure you will not get aa fake pair. But, you are paying way too much, and at least as far as I am concerned it is never 100% over here you are getting a real pair. So you always have that looming after your purchase.

Easy to tell if Ray Bans are fake or not.
