  1. I totally agree mate. Taking a couple of hours the day before ones IO visit, to do the 'extension' paperwork and implying the task 'hard' is beyond belief.
  2. I have to disagree. It all depends on what one defines as 'easier'. Personally I don't think so and that's why I can't admit it. Showing 3-4 photo's and a couple more photocopies is 'harder'? You're having a laugh.
  3. Of course it's weird. The Immigration officer isn't going to steal 1,900 Baht from his boss opening himself up to prosecution.
  4. Yes I've done both to know. And I have 3 children and they are not required to attend the IO as you indicated. 'My daughter and my wife had to also go to the IO' no the children do not have to attend. Photo's of them along with their birth certificates is adequate up to the age of 20. Then you do not have to acknowledge their existence. They then become adults in Thai legality.
  5. What 'family' do you have to 'drag into the IO each time'? And it's only about 2 photocopies extra one has to provide and you can have access to your funds well before you can on a 'Retirement Extension'.
  6. I got my first home visit after about 13 years. Buriram IO. Have now been married 17 years.

  8. I can assure folk that if you're driving an hire car then the insurance is valid.

  10. Because I didn't reply to the question doesn't mean I don't know the answer. Doh
  11. On a Thai license you can drive for 12 months in the UK. For the second time of being asked.
  12. You can drive on either license. The Thai one is only recognized for 12 months from day of entry. Thereafter a UK driving test is required to be passed.
  13. I call BS on this post. 'No receipt' for an extension? No, the whole post is ridiculous.
  14. Stay out of it. If it goes tits up he'll be looking to blame someone.
  15. The last time I did an online TM47 I ended up having to go to the office, it didn't work. Today I did my online TM47 and it was dun and dusted within 20 minutes.
  16. I was in the Co-op Bank for years but in 2005 I notified them I was going to live in Thailand to which they opened a 'Smile' internet account to help me. Never closed and still operating to this day.
  17. For someone that doesn't want a dog as an alarm device then CCTV is perfect if connected to you're Android. Irrespective what one has it will not deter or stop burglars trying to gain entry.
  18. Even after you've had a vasectomy your body still produces sperm. All that has happened is the delivery line has been broken. I had a vasectomy and 20 years, or so, later I had sperm taken direct from my testicle. This was done at the IVF Nawabutr Clinic in Bangkok. After 20 ish years my/your sperm is still there but the tail becomes deformed due to your body attacking it as an invader. The tail is removed and the head of the sperm is injected directly into the egg. How doctors explained it to us. Cutting a long story short my wife produced 15 eggs of which 11 were fertilized. Those fertilized eggs are graded and used accordingly. The outcome for us was a daughter, on first attempt, followed 18 months later by a twin boy/girl, 3 in total children. A few posters on here talking rubbish.
  19. The burglars work as a gang and are continually on the move. One step ahead of the law is the term used. If they were local the police would round them up pretty quick.. I\we more or less got burgled in the same manner with similar size safe which was also in our bedroom next to our bed as per this case. But in our case they removed the safe, drove 50ish km and opened it via the backside in a farmers field. Nothing in it except documents which they left lying next to the safe. Nothing lost really other than the 2 Golden Spaniels they poisoned to get in the house.
  20. An old story but fact. https://www.tampabay.com/archive/2005/03/10/poorly-prepared-cassava-kills-27-children/
  21. Why get it from China when just walking in rural Thailand you can literally pick it up free.
  22. Thailand is awash with the stuff. You can eat cassava but if it's not cooked properly the cyanide in it can kill you.
