  1. You are absolutely correct, not only do the idiot foreigners need educating but Thai laws explained and enforced by all Thai guides, tour leaders and resort owners etc and especially the fisherman who are doing damage on a daily basis to many reefs & beaches. This goes untouched by the authorities and is glaringly obvious which is so sad for the marine environment and subsequently Thailand and its people.
  2. No it is the ignorance of some tourists and many Thais who have little care for their environment, whether it be lack of education or otherwise many Thais care less for their own environment than the average western visitor, believe me I see this every day on the land and the beaches which affects the sea.
  3. It seems like far from what any priority should currently be and a waste of effort. It will definitely loose its identity to some internationals and being such a major tourist destination, the possible confusion together with the authorities forever changing the already difficult entry and visa rules short term it could contribute to less tourists. I guess this is an indication of what the authorities consider as a priority, poor timing to an already difficult time if you ask me!!
  4. Thai authorities should warn tourists about caring & conserving for marine life which includes coral, meanwhile Thai fisherman damage the reefs daily and thats ok!! It should be the same rule for all but thats probably too much to ask! If only people realised how important conserving the marine life really is for the planet!!!
  5. The big players are in the law makers pockets so until that can be overcome nothing will change. Thai politicians love to talk and have their mug shots posted with no action, its all about face!!!
  6. Another waste of time on mostly low spending tourists, these morons just dont see the big picture do they. And I suppose a travel bubble will allow these "high" spending Indians to side step some entry rules given their value to Thai tourism!!!!! I used to frown when people on this forum criticised the Thai authorities but now I see exactly why they do it. Sure let the Indians come but under the same conditions as others otherwise why impose extra restrictions on others if they are not needed! Right now a travel bubble with some European & Scandinavian countries would make much more sense, come mid year a travel bubble with Southern Hemisphere countries with a reputation for frequenting Thailand should be their next focus! Given that many countries are relaxing restrictions and opening up now knowing that most of their restrictions did more damage than good & not that most will admit this but it will force Thailands hand to follow or sink!
  7. It is still early days yet as to whether we get any long term side effects from the vaccine and personally if I didnt intend to travel I would have held off getting Vaxxed until there was more confidence in it. There are too many unanswered questions about the whole Covid outbreak, its origin and so much more that is not clear and we are not being told. Regarding unvaccinated entry into Thailand, an Australian friend of mine arrived from the UK mid January 2022 unvaxed, quarantined in BKK and now back living on Samui so I guess that puts your argument to an end!!! Again there is so much miss information spread in every aspect associated with this virus by individuals & government so called medical experts what do you really believe!! Recently some NZ medics found foreign matter in the Pfizer vaccine and after publicly putting the NZ government on notice 3 other countries reported the same findings so how can we be confident with any of the vaccinations given the situation & its uncertainty!
  8. In 1988 my overseas travel agent booked me in to the Montein Hotel in Bangkok, I new little of Thailand and even Bangkok, had never heard of Pat pong !!! Anyway I arrived around 9pm in the evening and after checking in, showering and changing I thought I would go out for a drink. I asked the hotel Concierge where was a nice bar with music and he pointed across the road and said there is Patpong, I asked what is Patpong to which he replied many bars & many girls!! What an eye opener back then!!!
  9. They need to start with some personal discipline for drivers and then properly teach basic road rules. These need to be enforced by non corrupt law enforcement unlike the current status. There is no discipline on Thai roads, they dont respect the painted lines on the road as lanes, they are completely clueless of roundabout rules, they dont know when to give way and when to stop or not to stop. They drive onto a main road making traffic stop to let them proceed and so it goes on. They drive out of side roads without a glance for oncoming traffic, the list just goes on & on. Even policeman do not stop at zebra crossings and are some of the biggest road rule breakers because they believe they are entitled!! A few weeks back I tooted my horn at a van driver because he kept wandering across into my lane, he followed me for the next 5kms flashing his lights at me, what madness!!!
  10. Well they ate real food then, now its fast food from the mobile kitchens!! still tastes good but thats what MSG is for isn't it, such a shame as the woman are 20kgs heavier from this! In 1988 when I first visited Bangkok you rarely saw a fat lady, the odd slightly plump one but very few fat woman, now they are on every street corner and some!!! Phuket was then paradise, I visited 25 years later and what a transformation!
  11. I believe several of the bars, sorry restaurant bars still order in food!!! of course they are lawful and have a restaurant license, the only thing missing is a kitchen!!!!
  12. That is a very disdurbing statement by RTP, do they honestly believe that? What planet are they from?
  13. Well you would be hugely offended if you said hello to a pretty Thai lady and she gave you the finger and walked off!!!
  14. It would be beneficial to all if the authorities could make up their minds if it is Thai law to wear a face mask or not. You have individual provinces threatening fines for not wearing a mask and the DPM stating is not Thai law. So who has the authority, the governors of the provinces or the DPM??? Clarification would clear the normal confusion regarding Thai laws!!!
  15. I do not believe this statement as I have observed mainland Chinese tourists in Thailand. Generally speaking they spend the least on tourism while in Thailand and have lots of pre arranged tours and meals where the venues are owned by Chinese and are pre paid in the home country!! Like it or not Thailand need Farang, Japanese, Singaporean, Taiwanese, Korean etc type tourists.
  16. Ironically the CDC were the publishers of the information I posted and they now state almost the opposite so I guess its which week you research this type of data which makes the difference. Sadly there will be a monetary factor here!
  17. There is known proof that the vaccination offers partial protection and in most cases will reduce the symptoms of Covid 19. However subsequent booster shots become far less effective and reduce by about half in effectiveness from each administered booster. According to the CDC in the USA most covid vaccines only last for around 20 weeks and offer less protection as they age. If you get covid 19 and you are unvaccinated after you have recovered your natural immunity will give you very slightly better immunity than the MRNA vaccine itself, how long for they did not say but most likely longer than the vaccination which will not please the vaccine manufacturers and most likely why they didn't highlight this.
  18. Indonesia, 14 days quarantine in Jakarta only !!!!!!! The last time I looked Singapore was also a similar quarantine so Thailand is the one with less restrictions! Yes a 2nd PCR test on day 5 is a nuisance but not that bad really. Book your hotel for 5 days or longer right from the start then its not really an inconvenience is it! The only problem I see is many people already residing in Thailand including citizens that are not being tested may be carrying covid and not know it, they pass it on to visitors and the the visitors on day 5 test positive, not negotiable quarantine even if they also have no symptoms!!
  19. Lots of negative chat about the day 5 hotel booking, it would probably make sense to book your hotel for 5 nights right from the start. Obviously the authorities want to know where you will be for the 2nd PCR test.
  20. If the Thai legal system doesnt put this guy away then they really are just as corrupt as he is!!! Lets hope for the sake of the entire country this guy has a fair & honest trial and is sentenced according to his actions and they don't fall for some cock & bull <deleted> about him being framed or whatever!!!
  21. I guess the point he is making is take your own insurance policy by taking vitamins to help boost your immune system giving you a slimmer chance of contacting the virus!!!
