Former national police chief Chakthip to face corruption charges
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Its the sad reality of Thailand, they just cannot help themselves from being corrupt! Why would they need to import BMW's for the RTP when they assemble many other less costly brands in Thailand. Like others on this forum have mentioned, probably most of them have been repainted and are now personalised vehicles of RTP employees or their wives & girlfriends!!! -
I would say the usual poorly written Thai article, they not refugees. Some are genuine tourists and some are avoiding the conflict or maybe a bit of both, also some actually work in various industries. Who can blame them for not wanting to be part of the war and right now its cold in Russia and life is tough so if they can afford it why not come to sunny Thailand. Some are very nice people and others are undesirables!

Training Launched To Help Drivers To Get Their Points Back
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sadly another typical Thailand ridiculous idea, the driving test is a joke and this along with no road discipline is why Thailand has one of the highest road fatalities on the planet. Some idiot will have been paid a nice fat wad for dreaming up this stupid idea that defeats the whole purpose of a points deduction system. -
I have used Q-Con blocks which are a light weight L= 600 x H = 200mm with vary widths from 75 - 250mm. They also do lintels up to 3.6m in length so great for most windows and doors. They are fantastic but you have to know and follow the correct construction procedures, they have a web site which is very informative. They are more expensive than your old style concrete blocks but so easy to use and so much better for almost everything from construction to noise, sound and insulation. I would absolutely use them again if I were building a house.

There 2 sides to every scenario and without knowing the facts how can we positively comment. Sure he has got some Thai chick on the go so its fairly certain there's no "go" at home! He's probably at bit naughty but again we dont know the facts and sadly the old girl maybe getting a rough deal. She has a house and is most likely well looked after so maybe she should just get on with what she has left of her life and enjoy what she can while she can.

Swedes and Thais fight each other over traffic rule in Phuket
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
If you are Thai you are allowed to not follow the traffic rules but foreigners must abide by the rules. Standard in Thailand as Thais never obey the traffic rules and foreigners observe this behaviour and try the same!! -
Police deny extorting money from Taiwanese actress
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well it all went rather quiet so maybe he never actually made it to jail, I wouldn't be a bit surprised and someone had to oversee the dividing of his assets to all the police and authorities involved so who better than Joe himself, that was probably his agreed punishment! -

Bill Heinecke: "Crazy to give vaccines to tourists"
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Making statements like this I think this guy wants to become a Thai politician!!! He certainly has some of the right credentials to not look out of place as it were!! -
Is there any country on the planet where there is no prostitution, I doubt there is even though many countries try and claim there is none. Its the oldest profession so get real, Thailand would have to be one of the largest prostitution hubs on the planet and its not going away any time soon so make it legal and support it.

Horrific death of 11 in passenger van crash in Thailand
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I have often said the Thai Department of Transport really needs to teach its citizens how to drive properly, the driving test here is a joke. They must learn and obey road rules, the lane marker lines painted on the roads mean nothing, they dont stop at pedestrian crossings, they pull out in front of you on a highway, they stop in front of you on the highway to let another driver enter which disrupts the main traffic flow and causes congestion and accidents. Roundabouts are complete chaos, they have no idea or training on this yet roundabouts are so practical. Motor bikes are the biggest offenders, no helmets, 3 on a bike, pull onto a main road with not so much as a glance left, weave in and out of traffic, drive on the wrong side of the road because they would like to turn right up the road somewhere, It is an appalling situation and really needs to be addressed by the authorities. I wonder why Thais drivers, especially motor bikes have no sense of self preservation?? Having a drivers license is a privilege and road rules should be learnt and obeyed, not taken for granted. When I sat for my Thai drivers license I watched a movie for about 40 minutes, I was the only Farang and watched the entire rediculous movie while the other 20 or so who were all Thai's slept! So I am not surprised when I see the road accident statistics here, it is very sad and the outcome of an irresponsible road transport department. -
When Will All These Annoying Tourists <deleted> Off ?
paul1804 replied to NickyLouie's topic in Pattaya
There are approx. 70 millions Thais and probably several million migrant workers so thats a lot of mouths to feed, how else would they earn a living if there were no tourists? This is a major tourist destination so if you are not happy with that I suggest you move else where, I hear Burma is pretty quiet right know, also Laos as long as you dont mind lots of Chinese!! -
