How long will this "supposed" crackdown last I wonder, I guess once the RTP have a few thousand baht in their pockets they will retreat to the station until the next major crackdown which we know is just a pathetic attempt at improving road safety so the authorities can say they are addressing Thailands world status road fatalities!

I am surprised to hear so many non Thai citizens gunning for Thuksin, I had a friend that worked for him when he was in power, she is a fine upstanding extremely intelligent lady. She told me of the many things that Thuksin was trying to do to improve the lives of the not so fortunate Thai people but was continually blocked and ridiculed by the Thai elite, hisos, the generals and so on. Maybe he did screw up but he made his money prior to becoming the leader unlike many others. If Pita from move forward party had been allowed to lead Thailand would be a different country now and many of the reforms that Thaksin was trying to push through would be again on the move!

A sunny place for shady people!! I guess with their back grounds they felt comfortable in Thailand's "honest" environment!!!

I dont feel intimidated when I see police on the street, maybe if I had done something wrong I would! I cannot see a public toilet or garbage bin spoiling the atmosphere, I live right in the middle of a tourist attraction so know first hand what tourists are asking for, toilets, directions, information & can I put my garbage in your bin? Fortunately we have little crime here but Phuket & Pattaya have become almost daily news alerts. This is not good for pending tourists and Thailands image, the longer it goes on the worse tourist numbers will be!

Its not about who cleans it up but more to the point is addressing this common problem throughout Thailand!

This is a common problem in Thailand, the authorities just dont see the connection between getting quality tourists & their money and providing simple basic ammenities. This is just another reason for people to choose other destinations with easier visa rules that are not forever changing, the street violence in Thailand is rising so the need for better policing, maybe even just seeing police walking the streets would be a good start to sending the right message. Address the corruption, Taxi mafia and their constant rip off prices & with their aggression towards competitors who offer a cheaper service. Places like Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Hua Hin etc etc that have large concentrations of tourists at beaches with no garbage bins, no public toilets, no tourist information centres and so are just missing the big picture. Obviously the same ammenities at other non seaside tourist attractions. You want tourist dollars then provide basic amenities to cover their needs. So instead of spending 3.5B baht on some brainless scheme of attracting the Chinese who are poorly toilet trained and get confused between a toilet and the street spend that money on tourist related infrastructure and getting the "police" to actually Police which may address some of this growing street violence!!

One could say this entire submarine saga is a joke but quite honestly it is way beyond that, when will Thailand get a leader with the common sense to say we have no sensible use for a submarine but we could do with another Frigate to replace the one that sank!! They were never told that boats need maintaining so consequently it sank with no reason made public although it was quite apparent that the sea water pumps weren't up to capacity and unable to cope with the water it was taking on in rough seas!!

I cannot believe these TAT morons, their last news flash was that tourism had slumped dramatically, then they claim down by 1% which is hardly a slump! Also just recently they claimed whilst numbers were down spend per tourist was up which probably confirms their statement that Chinese numbers were down & being budget tourists that makes sense. Now they are "positively beaming" because European numbers are up which is good news but I have a restaurant and I can tell you my numbers are well down this month on 2023 & 2024 & April wasn't flash either!!

TAT are not known for their truthfulness!! If it were only 1% we wouldn't really notice it but it is down substantially. However its low season now, the Chinese economy is struggling and Chinese like Indians are generally budget tourists despite what TAT tell you and the money they waste trying to promote these regions. Historically May sees a spike in rainfall although the last 2 years it has been quite dry, especially here in Samui unlike this year which also seems to be effecting other regions! If TAT have any grey matter they should be spending their money & efforts attracting the Europeans for the August high season which we rely on so much.

The Thai authorities have the belief that its dangerous to have electric cables under ground and in most instances insist that power poles with over head wires are used on new installations !!! Sadly its Thailands way so the victims pay the price for this phobia!!

I was hoping the new Thai leader would "can" this ridiculous purchase and thought Thailand was purchasing 1 submarine but now I see its 3! Germany has repeatably told you no MTU's for china so why is this story back in the news!!! Spend the money on education & infrastructure within Thailand you morons!!

I think I should stop reading Thai news because its so juvenile and blatantly corrupt but I guess thats south east Asia and of course "big daddy china" who are like this tourism stunt so often at the centre of these scams! If its not a construction scam then its a call centre or a trafficking ring etc etc!! Very sad yet the Thais still embrace their northern neighbours, why, because they, to a lesser extent are benefiting. Look at the Burmese scam centres mostly on the border with China, why because the Chinese are the ring leaders & major beneficiaries. The Chinese government is no different and will rape and pillage the poorer countries mostly under the guise of development to the detriment of those countries and Chinas financial gain!

The teachers should first be reeducated so they can implement the new system as well as basic learning because its fairly obvious that many of the teachers lack qualifications and the ability to teach! So while we are on the subject of Thai education when will the Thai government schools get proper English teachers to teach the children an important 2nd language because apart from the Laoations no other countries can converse or understand the Thai language and given their reliance on tourism it would be fairly correct in saying 95% of the tourists speak English to some level of proficiency despite where they are from, maybe the Chinese are the exception but they are not the big spenders in Thailand, quite the opposite and those very few Chinese that do spend generally speak English. Its easy to criticise as a foreigner but Thailand really needs to get up to speed globally and education is key for them to drag themselves out of third world status which is the status quo outside of the tourist areas!

When will Thailand wake up, exactly as the Chinese said, the trip didnt cost much because they are predominantly budget tourists so how will that fill the shortfall that Thailand needs? no more to be said.

The Chinese are doing this all over the world so nothing new here, brown envelopes are their usual way of dealing with legal situations a lot like Thailand in that practice!!
