  1. I agree. When my Thai wife and I go browsing in the local markets and she decides to look at clothes for herself, I always make sure I am out of sight from the vendor. That way she always gets a Thai price quote. If the vendor sees that she is with a foreigner the quote often doubles. Once the purchase is agreed I step in and hand her the correct amount. The disappointed looks on the vendors' faces are priceless. ????
  2. There is multi pricing with substantial differences in other countries as well. For example in Hungary How much do Hungarian Parliament tickets cost? General admission prices: HUF 3,500 (10€) for EU Citizens HUF 6,700 (20€) for non-EU Citizens HUF 1,900 (5€) for students (6-24) who are EU Citizens HUF 3,500 (10€) for students (6-24) who are non-EU Citizens Free for children under the age of 6 If you are Hungarian, or were born in Hungary you get in free. I was told "free entry" by the ticket seller even though I explained (in Hungarian which helped) that I was Australian and it was the first time I had been to Hungary in more than 50 years. Note also that the lower prices are for EU Citizens, not expats or mere residents, although I don't know if an EU driver license will get you in cheaper.
  3. Even for a ST you have to pay x5 or even x10 compared to a Thai guy's ST experience.
  4. No need to give her 100 baht. He could have paid her 20 baht and just accepted the candy from the little girl then give it to one of the bargirls nearby. I don't know why people get into so much drama in these simple situations.
  5. I was approved for an online 6 month METV earlier this week and there was no requirement for airline tickets. I did have to provide details of general health insurance for US$100k but not covid insurance, but I will need a separate US$10k covid insurance for the Thailand Pass application. Also I did not have to provide any payment until after the online visa application is approved and I send in my passport. This was in Australia so I don't know if the situation is different in the USA.
  6. Thailand have made getting a visa harder as well. Their Ministry of Foreign Affairs decreed that Honorary Consuls throughout the world are no longer permitted to process or issue any visas to enter Thailand. In Australia we could go to the Consul in our state capital city to get a visa. Now only Sydney and Canberra are permitted to issue them. Yet another hoop to jump through. I sit here wondering how safe I feel sending my passport to them through the post. If you want to ask them a question over the phone you can only call during a 3 hour window between 9:30am and 12:30pm weekdays, yet another silly restriction.
  7. Because Anutin thinks foreigners are dirty and Thais need to be protected from them.
  8. I am not sure why any tourists would come to Thailand, especially 8 million of them. In the other story today, "Anutin: No indication to end of entertainment ban in Thailand"
  9. A few well aimed cans of beans hitting him in the head could slow him down. But then, being a farang, I would probably end up being the "culprit" in the eyes of the police and end up getting deported.
  10. Only the good looking girls were snapped up. The rest are still back on the farm.
  11. That is what happens when a country tries to sell substandard products. France tried to sell cr@ppy subs to Australia. China is trying to sell cr@ppy subs to Thailand.
  12. My condo is in Huai Khwang and the times I traveled from Nana to home the fares varied enormously. Sometimes the driver would take a short cut through the back blocks and manage to avoid all the traffic, especially around the Ratchada night market, and the fare would be below 100 baht. Another night the driver might just go along Sukhumvit and Ratchadapisek in heavy traffic and the fare will be 150 baht. I usually give the driver a tip between 20-50 baht anyway. No big deal, especially when I know that just the taxi flagfall back in Melbourne will be more than the 150 baht fare in Bangkok.
  13. One possible benefit from all the Russian tourists being stranded in Thailand is that they have access to news that is not being censored as it is back in Russia. At least they can see the horrendous effects their fearless leader is imposing on its neighbour. Ukraine is their "brother" nation with many having friends and relatives living there. Maybe Putin does not want them to return to Russia just yet because they have seen what the rest of the world is witnessing. We can only hope that there are some Russians who have some sympathy for their invaded neighbours.
  14. They say he is scared of catching the CCP virus. Yet he is fine shaking hands with another gangster.
  15. That photo is one of many that I have seen the past couple of weeks. Dozens of large apartment blocks burnt out or collapsed. Hundreds of homes destroyed. Schools, hospitals, a theatre sheltering hundreds of civilians mainly children... all bombed. Putin is not just a war criminal. He is a barbarian with zero morals. Satan is eagerly waiting for him in Hell. Let's hope they can meet up very soon.
  16. Where does the amount of 12 million baht come from? 2 + 0.5 +5 +7 +2.8 = 17.3 million baht. Unless they only counted the house and land.
  17. Enemas are often used to wash out a stuck turd so maybe that is the correct word when it comes to Putin.
  18. Putin must really be looking forward to meeting Satan, his future master. Let's hope they can meet really, really soon.
  19. Australia is a very friendly country, however, we do not include war criminals on our friendship list.
  20. "exported to Russia through nations such as Belarus and China." Lovely company this guy is suggesting. He seems to have forgotten North Korea in the club.
  21. "Mulberry paper making by hand" Will it be OK if I manage to automate the process? I really, really want to make mulberry paper.
  22. Probably yes, that is until they follow their Chinese big brother's example and make VPNs illegal.
  23. I just measured my balcony in Melbourne Australia and it is 0.89m which seems 110mm under the standard. Even with that height I feel unsafe on my balcony and take extra care not to fall over. I am 186cm tall and the top of my balcony only reaches the top of my thighs. I am pretty sure my Bangkok condo has lower railings than here.
