  1. God bless Thailand that we old farts can have a life here
  2. I tried this trick. Said that I wanna buy a condo for 2 million baht. But they still wanted a non-o visa.
  3. That's why I have a dedicated debit card for online shopping and keep only small amounts there
  4. It's a great way of having medical insurance when you're retired. Just work in Thailand at least 6 months, and then simply keep your Thai social security. No need to pay crazy amounts for private medical insurance.
  5. Yeah, when the balance was lower than 83 baht, the transaction amount, and their attempted transaction failed.
  6. No. Did you read my post? It was more than 20 transactions for around 2000 baht in total. They only stopped when the balance dropped to almost zero.
  7. I read similar stories before and now it happened to me. Multiple online purchases for 33 and 83 baht which I didn't do, eating up all my debit card balance (which was not so high, about 2000 baht, because I never keep large amounts in this card exactly for this reason). If there was more, I think they would steal it all. The transaction info says it's for Youtube/Google, but I think it can be easily spoofed. I used this debit card for online purchases, but only on trusted websites like Amazon, Agoda, Ebay, Bolt app, nothing sketchy. And I never used it for Youtube/Google services. Of course I contacted my bank's customer service and canceled the card. They said they opened a dispute and would investigate into this issue.
  8. Now think about why they harass frequent visitors in the first place. $$$
  9. That's why I prefer paying by credit card whenever possible. In the good old times, I payed even 10 baht at 7-11 by credit card.
  10. That's why I withdraw money from ATMs in 400 baht chunks, to get only 100 baht notes, for small purchases. Less chance of short changing when you have to pay for example 140 baht and you give them 200 baht instead of 1000 baht. And yes, I have a Thai bank account and all-ATM-no-fee debit card. P.S. I miss the time when we could pay at 7-11 any amount by credit card, not just 200 baht up like it is now.
  11. No foreign mafia, only Thai mafia hahaha
  12. Thailand is not about business. Hard to make money here.
  13. What do you expect of a military junta?
  14. Do you respect them for being one of Hitler's allies?
  15. During WW2, Thailand was one of Hitler's allies
  16. In the same way, almost half the world supported Germany during WW2. There were a lot of countries devoid of colonies and other first-world privileges who were eager to turn the tables.
  17. Perfectly normal, considering how many elderly or mentally unstable individuals reside there
  18. That's what is called quality journalism
  19. Or unless he said something against the war
  20. Not so much. Basic rooms start from 2000-3000 baht per month. Street food is cheap, 50 baht for a decent meal with chicken and rice. A set of clothes (shorts, tee and flipflops) is 300 baht. Thailand is one the cheapest places in the world to be honest.
