Thailand went from locking people in rooms for 14 days even with 4 negative tests only based on fear. Then to 10 days after a positive test/symptoms start allowing them to come to work, to 5 days, and so on .... With exteme sensitivity of PCR tests people have tested "positive" for weeks after they are no longer considered contagious. There is also something with the cycle threshold different countries/labs used for testing as well as the sampling method. Nasal versus nasophangeal and oropharangeal. China even forced anal swabs on visitors. Supposedly very effective. There were some complaints. Japan asks China to stop anal tests on its citizens https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-56245404

Buy insurance: British tourist issues warning after moped crash
Captain Monday replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I already pay monthly/get insurance thru my US employer. The coverage is global and there are no limits, only deductibles and copays. If I need service outside network I pay myself and apply for reimbursement later. The company are UNFORTUNATELY not able to provide a signed document that shows the *period of insurance or *coverage limits that will satisfy Embassy/consulate Thai visa requirements or Thai immigration, coming in. -
Buy insurance: British tourist issues warning after moped crash
Captain Monday replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Did her insurance pay the hospital directly or did she have to pay upfront herself anyway? I never purchased "travel" insurance until ASQ and Sandbox period Thailand required it for entry. I consider it to be redundant and unnecessary as I'm already insured. -
Arrival of China tourists non-issue. Despite the rassist fear-mongering exactly as predicted. They tested positive but were they contagious? The most important strategy at the national level at this time re: covid-19 is just stop talking about it. Instead continue common sense public health measures like any other endemic disease that is never going away.

Thanks for checking my tone, "richard". I intended differently but that is what I saw. The poor bloke was covered in them and , well the next day there was another bed in the ICU available. Maybe if the OP wants better advice he should see a doctor not amateur medical sleuths on Thai Visa.

I saw that on fathers death bed, after they let us in on the final day because of "covid". Have you made your final arangements?

One of the problems as I see it we brought the horrid tipping culture I have been told there are good farangs and bad now, those who give money for nothing, then it becomes an expectation.

What should I do?

Nobody likes a grass. It was the OPs idea to send money now he is sorry he was fleeced? -
Where do Thai people get these yaba pills? I dont see ANY who appear to be tweaking out of their minds in Chiang Mai like I do every day while in the US. Nobody offered me druggs in Chiang Ma. Soem years ago foreigners in lower Sukumvit appeared to be selling "Mon what you want?". A Thai man who looked a penniless beggar offered me "cocaine LSD marijuana extasy " more than 20 years ago on Samui. I assumed that was a police scam. In any case I keep walking.

100 percent cotton design t-shirts are available in night markets but I mostly use underwear and socks purchased in US and self-imported in carry on luggage.

Is it that good? Just tourists following a flag probably.

If her face was OK in the bar will she look so bad in a darkened hotel room?

married to ladyboy
Captain Monday replied to ayseaf's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Research a third country where the Thai partner can travel what allows a same sex marriage to be completed, to two foreigners on a tourist status. Now legally married apply for US spouse visa. Good luck -
I gave up resigned to the understanding no matter how good my listening comprehension or reading I have a fundamental problem. Call it pronunciation, tone, or syntax? I don't know. I am incapable of rendering the vocalizations to make myself understood to locals

Noi pulled me off the floor of Angels disco in the Nana hotel about 1998 and instructed an ivy league level introduction course. Mongering 101

Noi from Buriram. She just dropped her second kid off to granny in the village on the bus with her Thai boyfriend as he takes her to a new life in Bangkok as a "cashier in a restaurant".

Malcolm. A retired bricklayer from Barnsley on first trip to BKK meeting Noi from Buriram who has only worked in bar for "2 weeks as a cashier and has never gone home with a customer".

I have never had a job and hold Thai bank accounts for years. Fist time I was issued in Thapae road based on passport alone giving a hotel address. USA and OK financial rules are irrelevant. KYC rules mainly hurt the innocent Thai sells longstay visas, elite cards, and markets the country as a retirement haven. There does not appear to any regulation against non-resident accounts. So why make such a big deal about it? Just my question. Making people go traipsing around like an idiut looking for a foreigner friendly branch, or agreeing if they buy some accident insurance so the bank staff get a spiff. I can tell people where to go in Chiang Mai. The requirements are clear. Maybe it is because foreign crims occasionally luanda money? Thai people do that too We could do a better job of keeping foreign criminals out in the first by requiring police background checks from home country

Insurance is not really "insurance" in America unless you have a golden plan like CEOs and politicians who are fully indemnified from costs. It is a discount program you cannot afford to be without, unless you are broke. In an emergency like you son abdominal pain you get the same care a as a bum off the street. Vagrants don't have addresses and poor people never get sued waste of money for the hospital simply throw the bills in the garbage. Nothing happens. However a person with a job and assets would be sued and even have wages garnished. So we all pay for lack of Universal coverage in the end.

I had similar experiences taking years to get YB basically had to wait for some harpy to go away. Finally seeing some huge file of foreigners issued yellow books, facial photograph and personal details visible fully I asked so what was the problem I had to wait for years? "Foreigners move away, sell condo or die" and don't surrender the yellow book " creating some paperwork problem for the Amphur. So this month I went to renew my 5 year driving licenses in Chiang Mai. I used an agent to cut in the month long reservation system. She was shocked I had a Yellow book said now "impossible" to get even with an agent. How to Thai banks benefit by not issuing accounts to foreigers? Still no answer to that.

I would say it is OK if you earn $200k plus per year per person. I dont know how normal people with kids now survive with housing and food costs. I went to great schools and public universities basically for free. Now thats all gone, But even if you are rich the bad cant be avoided. Pay huge taxes get nothing in return. I don't want the worlds biggest military. You cant be safe from gun violence. Not White? Treated like criminal in public, shops. Police kill you with near complete impunity 30-50 percent chance in a get rear ended in traffic accident the other side is uninsured. Unless you are seriously maimed or killed they won't even be fined. Insurance? You suffer pay for all damage even you are not to blame. Been there done that will never again own a car in USA. Then your rates go up. Health Care. Again you better have a good job with good group insurance. 60 -70 dollar per person meals in New York or SF basically dreck at times. Better check Yelp reviews
