  1. Thai's 100 baht farang 300 baht sad.png

Exactly ! It is very sneaky to write the price in Thai without any numbers "คนไทยร้อยบาท", THAI PERSON HUNDRED BAHT

If they want to triple charge the "Farang" why they don't have the balls to write it on the flyer in plain English?

By distributing such an advertising flyer openly even the most upstanding and fair คนไท must get the impression that is absolutely normal to triple charge every foreigner as they are known for being rich (and stupid).

I'm waiting for the day that Big C and Tesco starts to write the prices in Thai on the shelve, at 33% of the "usual sticker price for the uneducated class that can't read Thai".

And please no answers à la: Disney Land in Florida gives also 5% discount and a free softdrink to elderly or residents of Florida.

  2. Constant use of the brakes when going down hill can lead to Brake Fade (No Brake) in europe mountain roads have run off areas (a sand or gravel pit) in the event of brake fade.Nearly all buses and lorries are fitted with aTelma braking system to illiminate brake fade.

Do you really think the trucks or buses in Thailand have a retarder brake? Do you have any idea how many headlights you can buy for the cost of a retarder brake?

  3. I've seen 5 Ford Ecosport last Thursday around 13:00 between Sattahip and Pattaya. They drove pretty fast with extreme short distance between. I was suprised to see that they splitted up in Pattaya, one stopped on Sukhumvit others drove straight on, one turned into Theparasit etc. These little Ecosports are quit fast!

In the area Rayong - Sattahip they testing the Ecosport since more then a year already, in the beginning they only drove at night (same style - 100kmh to 130 kmh and maybe 7-15m distance to each other) ususally 4-6 cars in a row.

Ecosport looks like a nice little runner, pitty most Ford dealers are overwhelmed with the requirements to service the cars in case of a problem. Good Luck.

  4. Just be aware that DTG printers whilst cheap to use and set up (expensive to buy) are not mostly very permanent after a few washes a significant amount of ink washes out.Very good for promotion work or one off use.I have a friend in Uk who set up a DTG T shirt printing business and most machines and ink supplied failed his testing.Only one company was able to supply decent ink and was able to print other than white T's successfully.

That is not always the case, there are DTG inks available which are exremely durable. A Kornit Printer for example starts in Thailand for about 2.3 Million Baht. Do you think people spend that kind of money, if you could not see the print after 20-50 washes?

If you buy a chinese printer for 20000 THB, use some cheap ink and not apply the correct finish chemical to the product - then it will fade.

DTG is not good for large runs because of the high production cost.

2 Litre Dupont ink cost about 15000 THB, 2 kg Plastisol ink in Thailand maybe 500 THB.

If you want promo wear with qty of 50-100 pieces up, it is a lot cheaper to make the old fashion screenprint.

  5. Oh get over it canopus, some people buy a Honda Wave on 48 month and pay double the amount of the cash price.

However, I think it is understable that a foreigner has to pay a higher down payment because often they disappear and right now the second hand market for young cars (1-3 years) is very slow. The prices are down! Because it is relatively cheap to lent money for a car, as some or most companies subsidies the credit.

Even amongst Thais there are different rates for a credit.

Example; physician, dentist, pharmacist, commercial pilot, judge and attorney get usually a better rate, seen in a leaflet from Kasikorn.

Even government worker or postal employees gets often a lower down payment because the risk is also lower.

  6. Hello Peter, I've just tried it with Firefox and got the same result as you.
When I copy the text with Chrome and Java I got the link to the source added, if Java is off plain text.

When I use Firefox, copy from Pattayaone.net and paste in google.translate.com it works also.

From there c&p to Thaivisa also successful. So it must be a combination between Firefox, Pattayaone and Thaivisa...

It has something to do with the CSS on Thaivisa. If you turn off CSS on thaivisa.com you can paste the text directly from pattayaone to thaivisa, but the site is very hard to read without css.

So I would rather recommend to use Chrome for that case.

  7. FYI:

Mityon has ~ 60 locations in & around Patts, including the 2nd hand lots and aftermarket shop.

Dealers prefer Thai customers as they tend to finance at high interest rates rather than buy cash.

Not much profit in selling a bike at <$2000 I guess...so ferang, don't hold your breath on tip top service.

Strange comment, most of them seem to offer 0% finance?

Wow, Mityon offers 0% finance on the mass market product like Wave, Mio etc? That must be new.

I never bought a bike on finance but met quit a few Thais that paid very high interest rate for new scooter (not only at Mityon). Something like 15000 THB on a 50000 THB bike in 3 years for interest.

  8. 17 MPG (US) = 7.3 km/L

    17 MPG (US) = 13.8 L/100 km

lol thanks for pointing my mistake out. I checked my convertor again and I had it set for L/100km instead of km/L.

    Hello Spoonman,

thanks for your answer. Then I probably misunderstood your post #46.

I thought it was unusual that the car uses less fuel when in city traffic compared to highway...

I think the Ranger has a 80 ltr. tank. So if you refill it with only 5 litre still inside, you used 75 ltr.

If you can drive 950km on 75 ltr diesel it is 7.89 ltr /100 km or 12.67km/1ltr, I think that is very economic (for such a big car).

I have a 6 year old Vigo Auto and I never get below 8.3ltr/100km.

  9. 17 MPG (US) = 7.3 km/L

    17 MPG (US) = 13.8 L/100 km

lol thanks for pointing my mistake out. I checked my convertor again and I had it set for L/100km instead of km/L.

So your new Ranger needs 11 litre on 100 km on the highway and around town only 9 ltr. per 100 km.

Is that the 3.2 engine from Ford?

  10. Diesel is not subsidized, it is just given a tax rebate. CNG, LPG and cooking gas is subsidized.

With the weaker baht diesel could go to 32-33 baht/l, but no reason it should cost 40 baht.

Really? you should tell the govement as they call it a subsidy.

They also call the past 7 years a normal political process, what is your point?

My point is that the if govement themselves call it a subsidy and not a rebate then chances are it might actually be a subsidy.

    Source:

Gasoline and diesel were subsidized for many months in 2004. Diesel was subsidized in 11 out of 12 months in 2004, and diesel, but not gasoline, continued to be subsidized by the fund in 2005 until Aug. Diesel was again subsidized in 2008, in Jun 2009, in the first four months of 2011 leading up to a closely contested national election in July 2011, and again in Aug and Sep 2012.

In addition, the oil fund levy was eliminated for both gasoline and diesel in the last four months of 2011. By Apr 2011, the oil fund reserves had been depleted. Aside from periodic subsidization of gasoline and diesel, the oil fund has been used mainly to subsidize bioethanol and biodiesel in recent years. The Oil Fund had a deficit of 22 billion baht (US$0.7 billion) in Jun 2012. In 2011, the issue at hand was how long government could prevent the diesel price from rising above 30 baht (US$1)/liter. Monthly average prices of diesel in Bangkok and monthly average benchmark FOB prices relevant to Thailand since 2007 are shown below. The plot illustrates government’s attempts to keep the retail price at or below 30 baht/liter.

Tax reductions: In Apr 2011, the cabinet approved a cut in the excise tax for diesel from 5.31 baht (US$0.18)/liter to 0.005 baht (US$0.0002) effective from Apr 21 until Sep 30 to keep diesel price at or below 30 baht (slightly less than US$1)/liter, a move widely criticized for being political even by the Federation of Thai Industries.

A tax reduction of Diesel is not uncommon as it is an instrument to influence the economic development.

  12. Hi Gone,
I think deep inside you are a nice guy who wants to be liked by others, but sometimes you should really engage your brain before you start to write, speak or even upload a video to youtube.
You wrote that you never had a problem with a Thai in thirteen years? Do you really think it is the German guy who let you go through this all?
It is his Thai wife, which you know because of the remark about the skirt!
You need to understand that the words you wrote have a far stronger meaning to a Thai person then to Farang. If you say that sentence to a Thai in a Karaoke bar in Rayong or somewhere else outside Pattaya it is very likely that you would die for it, not within 2-3 years but in the next couple of minutes.
Instead of wasting money to lawyers and police you should had offered a reasonable amount of money, a very very deep wai on your knees and a sincere apology to the couple in public. It is almost impossible for the woman to decline such an offer in public.
But you thought your behavior was a minor offence and you had the right to answer in the style you did because of your personal situation and all the good things you done in the past.
You still have this opinion, don't you?
On the other hand I think you have suffered enough for that mistake.
Why not accepting the help from others? I would gladly transfer 500-1000 Baht to your bank or Paypal account, if you include me in your next prayer..
If 50-100 person have the same idea you don't have to sale the car, motorbike, ipad or macbook etc.
That is your good Karma in action:
You can continue to keep your spirits up by making some of your music, enjoy a can of Leo (is that healthy with diabestes?) , have a funny smoke and surf on thaifriendly...
And Mr.M from Germany has the pleasure to enjoy the companionship of his lovely partner for the rest of his life...laugh.png
What you think who is more happy?
So in the end Justice is done.clap2.gif
Have a nice sunday in Pattaya.
