  1. I'm sure some of them have good reason for their firmly held beliefs. But I will have no truck with those who, unless there is good medical reason why they should not be vaccinated, decline the offer. I'm my view, they are selfish, dangerous to themselves and others.
  2. I can't agree more. All the vaccines are signed off by WHO. A vaccine produced in Thailand is no different to that produced elsewhere. Astra Seneca has signed off on that, as an example. Otherwise, why put their name to it?I As for mix and match, I'm not an immunologist, but why would it not be OK? The vaccines all work, to a certain level, against all known strains of the virus, and thus, in my albeit, uneducated view, should be OK, yes? Talk about reinventing the wheel multiple times. Surely, if it's given the nod by WHO, all countries should accept it. Seems stupid to me, that a vaccine approved by WHO has to be approved by each of the 193 sovereign states et al.
  3. The use of helicopters in a country like this, for visiting policemen is a bit silly. What was he doing? Showing solidarity for police doing their jobs? They have a Provincial Commander for that, surely? Helicopters could be utilised better. Helimed, for example.
  4. I'm sure the press does not need a demonstration. They have seen it in action on the protesters. I'm also sure that they do not want the demonstration used on them, either. If the old Bill's not careful, tear gas and rubber bullets will run out. Not available on Lazada either.
  5. In error? In error...? Blimey O'Reilly. Can these <deleted> holes get nothing right? Mind you, at least some have got a response, even if it was 'in error'. I'm still waiting for my in error message.
  6. Around 5 million foreigners? 7% of the population? Wow, didn't realise there were so many.r around 350,000 Brits, 350,000 Americans, 350,000 French and so on...I'm surprise the number of French people who have not been vaccinated, as the French Embassy was going to import the vaccines and arrange vaccinations for the French citoyens...non?
  7. Sorry. Not changed the way I shop...or rather, the way the wife shops. Takes the car, does a 10 minute journey to get nom cheen noodles. Just that, the noodles. 15 baht. Grocery shopping from Macro once a month, Big C and Tesco Lotus perhaps once a week. Local shopping is an excuse for the wife to get out of the house...once a day. Oh, and fresh markets anytime we go to the big supermarkets, too. And sometimes the local markets, Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
  8. Altruism doesn't exist. Stop the export of the vaccines. Who ever decided that exporting vaccines was a good idea wasn't thinking straight. Experience around Europe and US should have sounded alarm bells as soon as exporting was mentioned.
  9. My BIL is mentally ill, according to the medics. He couldn't be prosecuted for attacking people in the village with machetes. They wouldn't section him. Not sure if that's a well known term outside UK. It means place him in mental institution. Forever. Same as nephew next door, talks to himself, and when high on drugs, destroyed his mother's kitchen, cut down the trees in their garden, is violent towards his sister... In jail for possession with intent, now, though. So much for mental illness...I guess his was drug induced. What's a ping pong bomb?
  10. The guns in the pictures look like war weapons to me. Unless air rifles are modelled on automatic rifles....
  11. A lot to be said for correct PPE now. Assume everyone has covid and plan accordingly. Boys in brown PPE suits, I can see it now...I Hazmat suits with wings and lanyards, silver bullion around the face masks for higher ups. Seriously, though. 30 people in quarantine for want of correct protective equipment. I'm tempted to say, sufficient baton rounds, water cannon, tear gas grenades and such like, but no PPE...
  12. I noticed no brown bread and very few eggs in the local Lotus's early last week, around 3pm. They were putting out more white bread... Plenty of rice and seems to be loads of other stuff too. No food shortages, as far as I can see.
  13. Are we sure he's the last one? Aren't Battalion commanders senior leaders?
  14. Why? Thailand is supposed to have shed loads of foreign currency reserves. It has domestic vaccine production facilities. Why all these donations? It is certainly not altruism.
  15. Regulation regarding fake new has been cast down by the courts. Regulation is unlawful. Tough <deleted>, son. Man up and take freedom of speech.
  16. Interesting. The 'employer' dies. Who is liable for severance pay? Is it applicable when the 'employer' dies? Does the estate have to cough up? What happens if the estate has insufficient funds for the payment? Oh, and the surgery is not covered under the Thai 30 baht national insurance? Medication also not covered?
  17. Speculation was never my good point, but I would suggest canning travel here for at least another 18 months. Unless you want to go the Phuket sandbox route.
  18. I predict I will relax this afternoon with no restrictions. As to the question regarding covid restrictions, your guess is as good as mine. And I have no guess and the be honest, little interest. With the borders being c!osed, the wife cannot gamble in Cambodian casinos. So, you see my point...?
  19. Nothing from expatvac. I'm 63, in the boonies in the Northeast. All eligible villagers here were offered Sinovac last week. I don't know how many took up the offer. With regards to the site. Why would 44,000 registrants overwhelm the site? Why would logistics be an issue? After all, the Air Force took 2 tonnes of Longans from the South to the North, the other day. If civvie logistics can't cope, give it to the military.
  20. It is reported he didn't know she took the money out until he went to the bank some days ago. It does not say this is all he had. He could have had sufficient funds to top up immediately, but the rules require the cash in the bank to be at a certain !level for a fixed amount of time. If he was 2 weeks overdue at immigration, it would not be possible to comply. The figure may not be a lot for you, but for others it may be. We do not know his circumstances, with regards to how he funds himself. His wife, knowingly or unknowingly, screwed him handsomely. Whilst it would be interesting to know how and why, it's not relevant, and I don't think immigration wants to hear the sob story and pleading. If I were them, nor would I.
