  2. Thailand is the land of corruption, ingrained into the DNA of Thai people. Corruption encompasses every level of Thai society. The Thais are born with a corruption gene passed on from generation after generation.

  6. So true Sherwood, I have tried so hard in the past to make a difference in Thailand but to no avail. I'm with you, Thailand is certainly a dump, but its home until I leave.
  7. So true, after a long drive in Thailand I will get out of my car and realize that I am just shaking in fear. Driving in Thailand is a horrible experience.
  8. Most men are embarrassed about their bodies and feel it is necessary to wear trunks that fall below their knees. Of course, no one can swim with those bags on their bodies. But in the name of fashion or self modesty, most men with opt for drooping bags.
  9. Very sad for such a young lad but any foreigner that gets on a motorbike in Thailand is a fool and takes his life in his own hands. No one else is responsible to pay for his own stupidity.
  10. It is interesting that you mentioned your memory of 1958. I was only 6 years old back then. My father had bought a new 1957 Chevy the year before. There was a recession during the years 1957 and 1958. My father lost his job because of this in 1958 and had to sell his car. My mother was a house wife and did not work. Our family of seven also suffered during the winter of 1958. I had to walk to school in the snow with holes in the bottom of my shoes. I put cardboard in the bottom of my shoes before leaving for school but by the time I got there, the cardboard was mush. How can one forget that?

  12. The best insurance that you can have is to not get on a motorbike in Thailand. According to the Bangkok Post, seventy four percent of all deaths on the road occur on motorbikes. Thailand is rated in the top ten countries for deaths on the road. Riding a motorbike in Thailand is a death wish.
  13. Maybe it is a good thing that the Department of Land Transport is so busy. The time you spend at this office should be used to really contemplate if you want to take your life in your own hands by applying for a motorbike license.
  14. Life is cheap in Thailand therefore no need for mirrors, head lights, helmets, brake lights or any other motorbike necessities. And another one of the millions of reasons never to get on a bike in Thailand.

  16. You are one of the few smart parents not riding a motorbike on a regular road, its a death wish.
  17. It does not matter how big or small or how expensive a motorbike is, they are still death traps and only fools ride them.
  18. So true MRT, corruption is ingrained into the Thai society from birth. Its like the Thais are born with a corruption gene.

  20. So true, condos in Thailand are terrible investments and continue to depreciate year after year after year. The Thais do not maintain their buildings or their wives.
