Mystery Deepens: Missing British Man Boarded Flight from Thailand
fredwiggy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you can change your face that fast you belong in the next Mission Impossible movie. Immigration does this all day, every day, and aren't stupid. Granted you might get one who's at the end of his shift, his wife is mad at him, or he lost 10,000 baht playing cards, but that's not going to happen a lot. Of all the times I've flown, in US, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Korea and Chinese airports, not once did they just glance and let me go. The only place that's a little easier is your own country, with mine, the US, it doesn't take so long for me, but I've watched many foreigners coming into the US and they aren't just passed by in 10 seconds. -

You said you can sell your airline ticket to another and also your passport. Granted, there are people who can make a fake passport, although it's very hard, and still you cannot sell your ticket to another person and have them use it. I flew to Canada twice to hunt, and they kept me there at least 5 minutes both times looking at my passport, asking what I was going to do in Canada, and where I lived. Thailand has always looked at my passport picture, glancing at me a few times, to make sure it was me. Yes, there are people who look alike, but would they look like this person who's missing, eve if he sold his ticket to them, which wouldn't work unless the passport matched the ticket, meaning a fake one. Immigration knows people change hair color, lose weight, use or not use makeup, and have up to 10 years to make any changes, so they don't just glance at a passport and say go on. I've never seen it with myself, nor anyone in front of me on line. If you're in the departure area, you already went through immigration, and when you board, they usually also check your passport and boarding pass again. -

Nasty lots usually aren't too concerned about a family member's whereabouts. -

Because it's what immigration does everywhere I've traveled. Protocol is usually the same as far as travelers on airlines. -

Anywhere I've flown, the officer checking passports always scrutinized the passport picture, looking at me to make sure I was the one on the passport. This includes the US where I'm from. As far as I know airline tickets are non transferable. You can change flights for yourself but not let another fly on your ticket. -

I didn't say he was sold . I said many are sold, daily actually. Trafficking also involves drug runners. I don't need TV to keep up on what goes on in the world. News, TV news, yahoo news, word of mouth are ways one sees what's going on worldwide. TV is for movies and series. -

They keep records of people who actually do border the plane of course, by checking in at showing your boarding pass. Where could he disappear from the plane to border control? They won't tell anyone besides the authorities any information about passengers, to safeguard their, and others flight. -

He is the one who keeps in touch with his family frequently. This is why they are worried. Him getting on another flight besides the one where he's going home, as told to his girlfriend, is suspicious. Why to Finland? I don't assume things but it does sound fishy, and if it were my son, I would also wonder why he changed plans to a totally different country. -

That's true, but they would have to ask in person or maybe from a police station who can verify details. -

Well, some older children care about their parents, and keep in touch. Some much of the time because they are close. -

What battlefield might that ever be? I know it needs a military to keep order with protestors, but the police can handle those. I know the problems with terrorism need to be kept in check in southern Thailand, so there is a need, but does it have to be so big, and have a need for warships, submarines and high tech aircraft. As far as the trainers, abuse never works in training, and only creates anger. Anger that can spill over into personal life.

I read the story and watched the soundless video. Words were said, and the "bouncer" didn't like what was said, so he pushed him. The last time he fell. It doesn't say what the head wound was caused by, though the girl let go and his head fell back. I didn't see where he politely told the man not to lean on his car. The story also doesn't have where they live, unless you found more information on it. Words can surely piss one off and want them to hit, but they would have to be personal attacks to enrage a normal man. The bouncer shoved the man first, then again. He hit his head on the last shove. The story and update does say he was a Canadian tourist. This is what you said earlier................................... Maybe they have been watching the news of the riots back home and didn’t want to miss out? I think there will be more to this incident than just leaning on a car. Thais just don’t go around bashing farangs for no reason. Likely an assault on a female or not wanting to pay a bill followed by some mouthing off and drunkenness has caused this................ Assuming is more your style. I go by facts. This is also what you said...................The drunk Canadian fell over after being asked to get off somebody else’s car. .

Five Thai teenagers arrested for beach attack

You're missing the point. Attacks against foreigners, and robberies and murders, have been going on , escalating more to the present. There are people who will not come after hearing this, especially families with children. You can see the stats show it's down. People aren't "snowflakes" if they want a safe holiday. That's plain being smart. This forum, along with the news, gets out to hundreds of thousands of foreigners that are related to people here, and watch the TV and Yahoo news. Just my few friends telling me this means people are changing their minds, and that's only my friends. Tourists might not watch Thai TV or this forum, but they have friends and family here that do. The more crime increases against foreigners, and the less that's done about it, the less people will consider Thailand as a vacation destination and go elsewhere that has the same things. The ones that will continue to come here, as well as new ones, are the ones looking for sex from young girls cheap. The environmental damage from tourism will change minds also, and some places might end up being off limits eventually.

Any act of violence anywhere drops tourism in that area. There are a lot of people who want to visit Thailand, and word of mouth gets around. People see in the news daily what goes on here, along with advice from those that live here. The way foreigners are treated here will stop many from coming, with the exception of China because they are in cahoots with each other. I've heard from a couple of expats here that said their friends were considering coming here, but after seeing people killed on the islands, decided to go to Mexico, The Caribbean and Europe instead. Multiply those by all the people who have been here, stayed here, and heard the news, and it will, and has dropped. Thinking the victim will want to come back here is ridiculous. All of the foreigners that have been victims here have friends and family, who now know what goes on here . Certain areas, the tourist areas, will lose tourists.......https://www.bangkokpost.com/learning/advanced/2800713/thailand-drops-11-places-in-tourism-ranking.

1. Absent parents can't teach a boy how to be a man. Parents in the home who are irresponsible and only have children because they had sex. Parents who abuse, along with teachers who strike children with sticks when they're a little out of line. Violence is taught here daily by those who experienced the same thing growing up. Narcissistic parents who control to get a child to adhere to unrealistic expectations. 2. See #1. 3. See # 1 4. See # 1.

Someone who can readily handle themselves is going to trash one of these "bouncers" one day, because they have to fight in packs, or get a running start before kicking someone in the head that's already down. Only problem is, when that bouncer goes to the hospital, the foreigner will be blamed even if he didn't start the fight but finish it.

You actually called me gullible, which I've never been. Assuming things is being gullible, taking for granted it's the victim's fault without knowing any facts about the situation. Thais do attack foreigners, as well as other locals, daily. If you watch TV you will see just a fraction of what happens in the country. Letting these kinds of cowards get away with assault, if they do, as happens a lot here, especially on foreigners, will kill the tourism here, and eventually people will start going elsewhere.

That's the point. No one knows the number, but it's many. I never waffle, babble, or blather.

Yes, this I found that sums it up............ How Much Do 1-Euro Homes in Italy Actually Cost? While the initial price of these villas and apartments is indeed a steal when they’re sold online or at auction, you’ll notice when you read the fine print that buyers must commit to remodeling the properties and often have a deadline of one to three years to do so. Fees associated with closing the sale are usually in the $5,000 to $6,000 ballpark, and then remodel costs can run the gamut from about $25,000 if you have a construction background and buy a small apartment to $500,000 for bringing in contractors to completely gut and renovate larger spaces. “[The 1-euro homes] can involve significant investment, often amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars,” Barion says. “These houses are usually on the brink of collapse and suffer from structural issues. Remodeling in Italy is not for the faint of heart.”
