  1. Buddhism favors men. Women are looked at as inferior and the hope is that a woman is reincarnated back as a male.. The school system here is lacking but women are more likely to favor education.
  2. That's not from intelligence but a desirable body.
  3. For drug charges yes, but many get away with a lot of things here with an apology and a small fine. Those under aged in the US can be tried as adults, and they will always be punished, unlike here. If you kept up on local news here, there was an ex policeman that killed 23 small children in a school here, along with a few adults, his own kid and himself. I've raised 5 children back in the US and none of their schools ever had any gun violence. Of course it happens, because the precautions they need cost money and they haven't been pressured enough to install them, but they will. Here, the violence will continue for a century basically because no one really cares much about it, and those that do are too few to change things.
  4. A lot worse happens daily in most countries. Police in America do go overboard and it's something that needs to stop, but narcissists are the first ones to apply for police positions so they can exert their control. Sadly, they get in. I'll never make excuses for those kinds of officials, no matter where they are. America is still free,as opposed to living here.
  5. You left out water, music, hobbies and a good Riesling.
  6. I said besides the metal detectors. America has hospitals where they have to take everyone, especially without insurance. I've been to a few myself, as has all of my friends. America is not the only country with nuclear weapons., if that's what you're suggesting. I've never heard of a Nazi scientist in modern day America. Plenty of disturbed Nazi wannabes disguised as white supremacists, KKK members and racist idiots, right up to the White House.
  7. The most important point being a good relationship with her dad. If he's a loving, caring, non abusive dad she will love him, and know how to receive love from a man in her life. She will watch not only how he treats her, but his wife and other women in his life. This time here my ex's dad died a few years before I came into the picture, and I didn't see anything. I did see how her and her mom got along, after I visited here, and it was okay the first couple of times I visited, but appalling the remainder, after I had moved here. 11 kids and neglect and abuse were her childhood days, and this repeated itself in our relationship towards me. This is where a covert narcissist comes from.
  8. Guess you've never been there and only go by what some say online. Every country has what you described. Besides the metal detectors, which should be in all schools to keep out the maniacs, like the one here who killed 23 kids and a few adults with a knife, former policeman, and the military here isn't as necessary as the one in the world's superpower, because America, a nation of all countries, has its disturbed enemies that don't like the freedom we have and want to take that away from us by acts of terrorism. By the way, there are hospitals there which have to accept you no matter what.
  9. Following that advice would increase the daily road deaths to 80
  10. I'm thinking not all are stupid. After all, the US is a world power with some of the best schools, teachers, doctors, scientists, inventions, and military.
  11. This is the question you answered......when do noodles stop being noodles and become spaghetti , with this..............As soon as they are made from wheat............. I replied to that statement, that noodles are made from wheat, just like spaghetti, and also made from rice, like the OP said. Of course I read the OP's story, because I have had rice noodles many times since I moved here. I've also had Udon noodles made from wheat. Others made from buckwheat and vegetables. Noodles made from wheat are still noodles. Thai noodles are made from wheat, rice and mung bean.
  12. That's noodle soup, made with rice noodles and sometimes ramen .
  13. Most noodles are made from wheat and rice. Spaghetti is also made from the same, along with other flours.
  14. You take your foot off the brake the cars moves. In her mind was a lot of things. Getting arrested for shoplifting the primary one I believe. The first step to getting away is to take your foot off the brake. Accelerating the second step. A lot of thinking goes on in those seconds and she was shot very quickly after moving only a few feet.
  15. It seems you don't have a clue that it's harder to shoot a person at waist level than aiming at a tire lower, and less likely to miss the car at that angle and hit someone behind it, and besides, you don't shoot at a car unless the person is a murder suspect trying to get away, as I've said before. It's a hell of a lot more dangerous to aim at waist or above level.A policeman is supposed to know his limitations and his job duties, and pulling out a weapon in this case is ludicrous. You use your time to get out of the way, and standing in front of a car is plain stupid because a person can hit the gas pedal and run you over accidentally also.
  16. If she shoplifted, she panicked and tried to get away. The only reason you draw your weapon is if they have a weapon intending to hurt you or others. He could have shot the tire as easily as he shot her. She wasn't brandishing a weapon. If someone tries to intentionally run you down, you try to get out of the way. Shooting at them is a waste of your time to react, and you might hit someone else that's standing around. This wasn't a murder suspect that's armed. She stole something and died for it.
  17. I think everyone on the road doesn't know the basics of road safety and stay as far away as possible.
  18. Defensive driving is exactly what you need to do here to survive. They aren't looking to hurt you. They are just incompetent and don't look at life as a precious commodity like most westerners do. If it's going to happen, it will, and thinking that, you don't take precautions to ensure your safety. I rarely see locals looking in the mirrors besides to put on makeup. I'm constantly looking at all of them while driving, either in a car or scooter, as you never know when someone will be coming up behind you and taking their eyes off the road to look at their phones and running into you. If you see them coming, you can take evasive actions. They drive under the speed limit right on the line, not looking into their rear view mirror so they can see you want to pass, and move over. You pass them and see their eyes are still looking straight ahead,as if that's all that matters. The best rule here is to stay away from everyone else if at all possible, and to know they aren't paying much attention so be ready. There are some good drivers here as I've seen them, but they are in the small minority. If you're in the right lane, and either going the speed limit or just over, they will pass you on your right, heading into oncoming traffic, instead of in the lane on your left, showing you they own the road and you should move over even if they haven't flashed their high beams. Risking not only their life but the lives of others instead of just passing you on the left.
  19. The real problem here is what will happen as far as punishment. Seems a teen can do whatever they want here and the punishment is never harsh because of their age. This shows the rest of the teen population that you can pretty much get away with anything and all you'll get is a reprimand and maybe a small fine, while the victim's life can be changed forever, or lost. Swords, machetes and knives are used daily here to hurt and kill. What is the thinking where you can carry these weapons all over the country and nothing's done? I'm sorry, I didn't mean it, no one ever taught me respect for human life, my dad's never around, my dad was never around, my mom's working in Pattaya, and grandma is too busy on the farm to show me what life means, etc etc etc. Another reason not to raise my daughter here.
  20. Some are trained since childhood what a woman should do, even though it's a chauvinistic approach, but that's expected in a country favoring men. They do appreciate any effort made, even though it's foreign to them. What their mom's did, they do.
  21. Mine is 5' 8" 74 kg. Me, no matter where I go, I do my share by washing the dishes while she cooks.
  22. Bought a propane oven here and use it weekly. Brought a clothes dryer here and they couldn't wire it to work. Dishwashers also I miss. gets dishes clean and easy. No hot water here either in the kitchen. Many food items but I'll be bringing them back when I visit this Fall. Lived without them but wish I had them.
  23. If you have 2 kids and a wife to take care of, you do your best to make a living and stay out of trouble. This means dad will not get to see his grow up for awhile, unless of course a Wai and a few thousand baht will make amends, as it does around the world, nowhere. If you took all the knives people carry in this country away from these cowards and melted them down, they would have their submarine and an extra battleship .
  24. Nothing wrong with catching a buzz using alcohol or weed. Letting it control you is wrong. Over doing it also is wrong. You build up a tolerance and it takes more to fell that buzz again. The longer you abstain, the better everything is.
