I'm as far from gullible as you are from having a clue to what I am. I could last 50 years and more here if I chose to, but I will leave because it's not a good place to raise my daughter. I grew up in New Jersey, with a New York City area influence, and I'm thinking you don't understand what that means. It means we don't take sh*t from anyone, and always pay back those who have wronged us, no matter where we live. I learned all of the lessons I need in life in my first few years living there, and that's something you will never get. What I wrote is dead on as far as him thinking ratting out other foreigners is a smart thing. You do that you'll pay. It's none of his business, and if you're standing by what he said, I'm suspicious of your thinking also. I have no Agatha Christie books on my shelf, whatever you mean by that. I see Papillon, To Kill a Mockingbird and the Bible on my computer desk. Snap out of what? Reality? Try telling a foreigner he's a scumbag deadbeat and see where it gets you, at least the ones who aren't too old to remember payback. I'm thinking you aren't a farang by your remarks. If you are, that's pretty sad, and that makes you just like him.

Woman apologises for provocative photos at Rama I monument

I suppose my comment is somehow wrong? I don't need no stinkin chill pills. -
No, actually the worse thing is some officials looking the other way, or worse paid off while locals are involved in the trafficking of women, girls and boys for sex, and forced labor on fishing vessels. There aren't as many "scumbag, deadbeat foreigners" as you think, and crime is rampant here daily mostly on locals. Proof is and always has been there if you look, or aren't a brown noser that thinks sticking up for them brings you anything. Daily road deaths is also one of the worse things, as is how women and girls are looked at as inferior, due to generations of religious thinking. I could go on, but we aren't talking about negatives but worse things. As far as the OP's post, it seems he has a grudge against foreigners, but is one, which is pretty sad. Others have mentioned it's none of his business unless it affects him personally, and it doesn't. He wants to be a rat, and you do know what happens to people who rat. And supporting prostitution is illegal also, as others have mentioned, so tread lightly because some other farang might call the number on you.

Some of the comments here I would expect from teenagers, but not retired expats who should have been with a few women in their time, and not drool over an average looking body that is on it's way to being a chubby. I'm thinking, think about it before you post your inner thoughts, because most men my age wouldn't comment on a public forum what they're thinking. In their minds okay, because everyone lusts after young(er) women. I know most will never meet here, and we don't really know them unless you do, and even then, but it does make us look like the sexpats they think we all are. Some of us have girlfriends and wives and respect them. Women are not tits, butts and legs. If you think so, you're a very sad older man that's never grown beyond physically. And I'm not near a prude but I do respect women. I do expect a flood of childish comments so that will also point out the immature. -
Fifteen Foreign Riders Arrested in Patong Breaking Traffic Rules
fredwiggy replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Nowhere near as many Thais are singled out, because most don't have the money to pay bribes and or fines. I knew of this before I moved here and have seen it daily for over 6 years on the roads. I see thousands of locals not wearing helmets, driving underage, speeding, reckless driving, careless driving, all past police and they aren't pulled over. I do of course see check points where many are stopped, but I don't see the outcome and only go by what I hear from locals and friends here. Police in America aren't pulling people over and bribing them. You have no idea what you're saying. Police have body and car cams that record everything and I've never heard in 62 years of any taking bribes for moving violations. Of course it happened, but rarely. And Asians aren't singled out in any event by police because they would be called out for it. I get daily news worldwide and hear word of mouth by friends and relatives what goes on back home. -
Fifteen Foreign Riders Arrested in Patong Breaking Traffic Rules

Here foreigners are singled out, for money or prejudice. In America, you are pulled over if you break a law, no matter what your nationality or race. People that break driving laws aren't necessarily idiots, unless they are risking their or others lives by driving drunk, way over the speed limit, or recklessly. -

I'm guessing they don't realize that this forum and all news in Thailand is broadcasted to other countries, both online and by word of mouth, letting them know what goes on here. Tourism will continue to drop and hate crimes will continue to rise because of this information. Over a million Thais live in other countries and when people are targeted because of being a foreigner in Thailand, news travels fast.https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-family-on-scooter-in-fishing-village-andaman-coast-thailand-17666638.html?imageid=6619579D-A514-48EF-8098-85A0479090BF&p=10330&pn=1&searchId=32a9e17394f1b301d35a4f3d8750a0d4&searchtype=0 -
Making an Automatic so it can be pushed
fredwiggy replied to Negita43's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Actually, all I've been in, which is most, didn't allow blocking others cars in or you'll be towed. My point is, it's not only illegal in most places, but stupid, as people blocking others in are inconsiderate and lazy. Someone might need to get into their car for an appointment or emergency and what happens when you can't find the owner and you can't push their car out of the way? -

America for one, and I'm guessing most others have laws against blocking people in. Pretty much a common sense thing, and sticking up for people breaking the law or inhibiting others from being able to move their cars when they want to is called brown nosing when you're in another country than your own. -

I don't like it for many reasons, and many are the lack of enforcement of laws. Are you actually sticking up for behavior that makes things harder for others? -
Thai businessman rapes woman, leading to attempt suicide

Which is idiotic because when you have to leave, and maybe in an emergency, somebody is blocking you so you can't. Another moronic third world fact that other countries have laws for. -
Bangkok shrouded in mysterious smog late Wednesday night

When, and only when, something affects the rich or politicians will they do something about it. Living in an air conditioned life makes it easier to not care about what's going on around you. This goes for anyone living here. Thinking this is a warm , sunny paradise and hiding from it most of the day doesn't make sense. When you can go outside and not worry about pollution is when you can really enjoy the outdoors. There are ways to get the burning stopped that have already been introduced elsewhere. Paying a fine when you break the law is the best deterrent, especially if you aren't wealthy. Same goes for traffic laws and regulations that are ignored. -

Thailand police foil illegal immigration operation, 66 nabbed

When those involved in human trafficking are given hard sentences and fines. When corrupt officials who let this happen are arrested and jailed, fined. When judges who are paid off to let them continue are arrested ,jailed and fined. Human slavery is higher now than ever before. There are reasons for this increase and they all involve money. When an official is put into jail for years this might slow down. ................https://www.ilo.org/global/about-the-ilo/newsroom/news/WCMS_855019/lang--en/index.htm -
Foster father’s violent assault on seven year old boy exposed
fredwiggy replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
How is this man a foster father if his mother is also there? This means step father, and sadly, one of the ones most likely to assault , abuse and molest children. Of course most step parents aren't like this. Severe physical abuse and multiple injuries are discipline. They are abuse, and a mother that allows this isn't a mother but a perp also. Physical abuse is rampant here and a lot of it goes unpunished. I see moms carrying sticks and hitting their kids when they get out of line. What is it with using weapons here? A population of cowards who don't understand or care how to raise their children in a non violent manner? This is something learned through generations. -
700+ illegal foreign workers exposed in Thailand’s reserved jobs
fredwiggy replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They are missing the point. Who hires them? In America, the migrants get hired by rich farm and ranch owners., and some to work as maids are gardeners in their homes. If they get fined big it would slow down. First offense, second offense higher etc. -
Thai businessman rapes woman, leading to attempt suicide
fredwiggy replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Rape is about control. It's not all about sex but hurting the opposite gender. Reasons are being controlled and abused by a female role model in childhood, taking out that anger on other women later in life. Some have had bad relations with women as adults and again use that anger on other females. No amount of sex toys or porn will stop a predator. They do it to control the person, dominate them. This is but one link about the topic.............https://www.victims-first.org.uk/what-we-do/myths-about-rape-and-sexual-violence/ -

Jealousy rears it's ugly head many times here. I look at people as all the same, no matter what they own or control. They are. No one is any better than anyone else except by the way they treat others. Being a country leader, king, queen, dictator, president or any other means nothing except that some voted you in or you took control by force. You aren't superior by any means, and many that are rich are there because they took advantage of others, over developed land, bought out people who were jonesing for cash, killed people in their way or did one of many useless jobs moving around money for other rich folk. When your religion says women are inferior, that makes a lot of women fear and dislike the male gender. When you are controlled all of your life by narcissists you learn to hate others, or fear them. If you can speak Thai well here, some look at you as invaders, thinking you will take their women away, when it's their fault they run. Some other nationalities are here for profit, using the locals any way they can. Human trafficking is huge here, which makes women look at all men as takers in some way, because they know others who are being taken advantage of. The more they know the real us, meaning the good farangs that aren't here to use but to take care of some, that like the lifestyle and want to stay, or that have children and want to take them back to their own country for a better life, the more they understand our motives. Bad farangs, users, takers, abusers etc are what makes the rest of us look bad, and in a nation known for gossip, this gets out everywhere, and some believe the lies because they trust the liars more than common sense and personal experience. -

Yes, I read all of the posts of people I know here that are intelligent (based on what they say), and on topics that interest me. It isn't hard to read a few long paragraphs unless English isn't your first language, or you've learned it well enough to comprehend everything a long paragraph says. -

True with some here, but a lot want to ,and do learn English. I help at an English school here and I've met a few teens that speak very good English. It's all about desire. My girlfriend speaks and understands English very well. Not perfect, but learning more each day. Those I knew in the US spoke very good English also, and some perfect. -

Some people have their phones out all day long, looking for useless things to record, then post, to the many who like seeing people hurt, killed, tormented, abused etc. Normal people carry their phones to communicate to others important things. When things like this happen, those before mentioned people are the ones who record to post. Some are necessary, helping to catch people in the acts of hurting others. Most are just to post nonsense that only the bored will find interesting. I'm thinking Bob was talking to this woman and didn't think of shoving a camera in her face to show others how she was acting. He's an adult. It's usually the younger crowd who have their cameras at the ready. Maybe I'm wrong, but I keep my phone in my pocket unless it's needed to call someone. -

It also boils down to how women are looked at here, and it's from the teachings of Buddha. They see what life is like in other countries and some want it, and have deep seated hate towards men in Asia because of the way they are perceived. This is a small part of a topic...................... Talking about the present day status of women in Buddhism, it can clearly be seen that nuns are placed at an inferior positions as compared to monks. They should speak after the monks have spoken, eat after they have eaten, sit behind the monks in rituals and ceremonies, and cannot hold the highest positions in any ceremony and many more. One of the Gurudhhamas which states that even a senior nun should bow down to a monk who has just been initiated shows how inferior the women have been placed in Buddhism. As already stated, it is said that a female nun can never become a Buddha though she can become an arahant. Very few times, questions have been raised about this inequality and when raised though, have been suppressed by the large number of people who still believe that women should be placed at an inferior position as compared to monks. Even in Taiwan, where nuns status is highest, and where nuns and laywomen far outnumber monks and laymen, only two leaders of orthodox Buddhist sects, Master Yin Shu and Master Xing Yun of Buddha’s Light International, have publicly rejected part of the Eight Garudhammas and other rules and teachings that imply that women are inferior to men and should be treated as such. Few other Buddhists in the country have made such public statements, or given vocal support to equal rights, opportunities, or status for women [11] . In many cases, women themselves have deep rooted feelings that they are inferior to men. They think that they cannot be in the same place as men are because they are more jealous, short tongued, evil, weak, vain, and ignorant and so on. This also makes it difficult to bring out this deep rooted feeling in women and establish a level of confidence in them. During his research, Goodwin found that this concept is changing very rapidly in Taiwan, especially in the young generations. They do not hold these negative views any more. There is also a growing consciousness within the Buddhist community that these negative teachings and unequal rules should be abandoned. This shows that the number of people supporting equality is on the rise. I think Dalai Lama’s effort to eliminate the discrimination of nuns should also be mentioned here. He says that this discrimination causes harm and should be abandoned. He has advocated that reforms should be made. We come to see that Tibetan Buddhism has moved forward in this context. Many of the Tibetan leaders have expressed a desire for improvement of the current conditions. In the west, I can say that the situation is a bit better. Half of the teachers and leaders in western Buddhism are women. In the west, many view that Buddhist men and women are equal. They get equal opportunities. In Asia, however things are yet to change. The nuns here receive less education, respect, training and material support as compared to the monks. They have very little or no chance of advancement. In some of the countries, women are barred from entering shrines or temples. Not only so, even a monk who supports women of ordination may get severe punishment which can even result to his expulsion. This is a clear illustration to show that things are yet to be changed...............................This is the topic...........................https://www.scirp.org/journal/paperinformation?paperid=75673
